That depends on your definition of "poor". I would consider myself poor, because I don't have enough money left over after paying bills for frivolous luxury items like iPads, etc... yet I currently pay about 16% of my income in Federal taxes.

"they say it like they pay no taxes at all", or is it everytime they say it, they are being asked about income taxes? When you talk about taxing the top 2%, guess what, thats about income tax. You cannot up the top 2%'s gas tax.

Republicans piss me off so much. They bitch about people receiving government handouts when in fact the states where these herds of ignorumus are the overwhelming majority receive the most shit from the federal government. Out of 22 Red states only 1 state which is Texas pays federal taxes. All 22 are the largest reicipients of federal taxes.16 of the most progressive state pay federal taxes and only 10 are lucky to get anything from the feds.

Conservatives are not refering to pay roll taxes, sales taxes, etc... They are exclusivly talking about FEDERAL INCOME TAXES.

Also, the wealth held by the top 0.1% is not liquid, it's mostly assets. For instance, much of Donald Trump's wealth is tied up in real estate and casinos that employ people. You can tax them more but it will result in less expansion of their businesses thus less jobs.

However, that said, if the Government stopped assistance the job market would have to raise wages and bring down the price of items or they would go broke from people unable to purchase anything. They, no matter what, must rely on the 51% to purchase their products. If they don't the business will fail always without exception.

Low, and middle class incomes have less disposable income to pay federal taxes, however they DO pay taxes. Any working adult can look at their pay stub and see that there are taxes taken out of their pay check. This is why there's gross pay, and net pay. Also, there's payroll taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, surcharge taxes, etc. So, the idea that 50% of Americans don't pay taxes is incorrect. Another FOX News lie.

i am a contract pumper. i drive many miles a day, everyday. no days off. i make 2100 a month. i get paid monthly. all expenses that come about come out of my pocket for the most part aside from really expensive things like oil field equipment which costs alot of money, but the main point is that all my pay is untaxed. i dont know what the taxes are going to look like at the end of the year. i might be royally fucked.

wanna hear something fabulous? i was on food stamps myself. my wife up and left me with our two children. no child support. nothing. i got a job that is UNTAXED. all my gas and things that i use for work come from my own money. im self employed. when i talked to the srs office about my new job they informed me that i now make $200 dollars to much and are cutting me off. i said " it's untaxed!! im going to get raped on taxes! i also use my own money!" they replied. dunno what to tell ya.
