@fitbikes8693 i think its a transfercase.........my knowledge of welding differentials means you weld the spider gears so you end up with a poor mans posi.......im guessing they welded the tcase so front and rear are lock in together...cheap way of getting a true AWD
you want the rear end to "sink" if it was too stiff the weight transfer would go directly to the rubber spinning on every shift with a really powerfull talon. :)
Some drift cars use a spool "differential", which actually has no differential action at all, the wheels are locked to each other. Budget drifters also use the welded differential, where the side gears are welded to give the same effect. This makes the car very easy to slide at high speed, but difficult to park, and is hard on the driveline
Or, in the case of these vehicles, welding the center diff locks both the front and rear sets of wheels together giving a perfect 50/50 power split at all times. Adverse effects then become scrubbing/binding of the tires in tight radius turns because the wheels aren't allowed to change speeds from one another.
i bet the guy was wondering "how in the hell did i get this crotch itch?"

Well that depends weither it FWD or AWD.
93TSIDSM 2 years ago
you're right but in this case its awd
ctc2531 2 years ago 2
@93TSIDSM technically not AWD anymore as the centre diff is welded up, so now its 4WD
