His eyes changed becase the original color wasn't still said by Kubo, so the anime industry thought that red eyes would be badass. After a bit Kubo wanted 'em cyan so the eyes' color changed as soon as he opened them again.. In a late Arrancarr Enciclopedia with Ulquiorra in 2nd release I guess.. That's all.

@luckyirishxxx welll colour-wise it's def just an animators fuck up...they have one in the episode with Dalk vs Ichigo as well (Bounto Arc) ...Ichigo's eyes are white instead of yellow due to a mistake...it happens sometimes...the last mistake was fixed for the english anime...as for opening and closing his eyes, Gin always keeps them closed so Aizen can't hypnotize him with his Zanpakuto....Gin's eyes are intended to be blue...

True, but back when they made this episode the anime creators did not know what colour Gin his eyes were, because he has silverly/white hair and is pretty pale they assumed he was an albino, but when Tite Kubo-San drawed Gin with his eyes open, he made them blue, which I think is a beautiful color for Gin his pretty eyes.

@londea88 Shikai (and also Bankai) can only extend. The only difference between the Shikai and Bankai is in the speed of extending. And no, he cant use the blade like whip. Blade is blade, nothing more, nothing less.
