From the moment I heard this song I fell in love with it. I have fallen asleep many times while listening to this song and I never tire of it. In fact, this is one of my all time favourite songs ever! Also, the guitar at the start sooo reminds me of the chocobo song from Final Fantasy V; total nerdgasm haha
This song (to me) is about doubting unconditional love because you're stuck in the same droll relationship most are, but then seeing that sort of perfection and being floored. There is also a parallel to fighting(debate) causing you to doubt whether you found that sort of love, and giving yourself up to the same old pacification just to be next to someone at the end of the night.
Man alive! I totally missed out on this song when I first started getting into DCFC. I'm listening now after a few years, and I'm convinced that Ben's lyrics are some of the greatest that popular music has seen in the last 20 years.
@NorthWriter lol I just did the same thing with "company calls epilogue" listened to that cd as a kid and somehow completely missed the song, then I just heard it recently and it blew my mind. There should be a name for that phenomenon, it's one of the best things in life.
@strokesfan1107 Now, go write a paper on it and it'll be an academically recognised term. I would do so myself, but I'd feel as if that were plagiarism.
this song is allll about the blend of music and lyrics, it's done perfectly, so that by the end, the music makes you feel as if you've been drinking, you're numbed with love, and swirling around and confused and staggering when you're alone. Just because the lyrics end sort of with him making sense of his love life/life, but the SONG doesn't end there.. the music makes you feel as if this is all about cycle after cycle of the same behavior.
i honestly dont like the second half of the song so much, lol i am an audiophile and love this track and blacking out the friction most out of this album but i feel this should either be two separate tracks, or extend the catchy verse/chorus/verse meat of it a bit.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this song!
