  • ....that´s my LORENGAR at here best ,thanks for posting

  • sublime!

  • Never heard before..great surprise for me..warm velvet voice!! thank you for posting.

  • one thing that also impresses me about lorengar is that she always sings on the line and never wavers. The note could be high or low..and yet it all still sounds the same...so seamless...the best legatp ever

  • I like this just slightly better than Te Kanawa's preformance only because she is healthy. Still, both ladies have a long way in topping Tebaldi doing this aria.

  • and see, i only half agree with you. While Tebaldi was a voice from heaven and no one can debate that, it also didn't have the most secure top in the business. I think that Lorengar's top and her use of the passaggio gives her the edge in this aria.

  • i'm in tears. she always manages to give a gripping, honest performance while never being overly dramatic or over the top. and on top of all of that, her voice is gorgeous and her technique is flawless! mamma mia! when i am reborn, i want to be like her.

  • By underplaying the first phrase , she accents the second, thereby exposing her passion dramatically without 'straining at the bit' as it were: a great talent!

  • An arresting, characteristic, and genuinely touching voice, always employed with an elegant and aristocratic sensibility.

One of those rare singers who seemed invariably "inside" the music.

  • Truly a desert island soprano...

  • The most beautiful and distinctive "timbre" of the post WWII sopranos. Simply magnificent.

  • agreed...I have some operetta on lp that is one of my favorite recordings. Her voice on lp is stunning...they cut the top when remastering for cd, unfortunately.

  • Glad you agree. Thanks for your comment.

  • Beautiful voice, large but controlled...and a great lady! Viva Pilar!

  • Wonderful!. Despite the narrowness of the image and the poor quality of the sound track, the skills of Pilar Lorengar are clearly noticeable: smoothness in all the register, brilliancy and a unique timbre. What´s more she was rather beatiful and had an elegant presence at stage. In that program for Spanish TV she also sang arias from Don Carlo, Cosi fan tutte and Lohengrin, which would be worth listening too.
