What about my favorite fruits, like bananas, mangos, persimmons, papayas, mandarins, jakfruit, figs (Fresh), dates (fresh), guavas, nectarines, mulberries (oh yeah, berries are good), cherimoya, grapes, prunes, and sapote (all types?) And do I also have to limit myself on these, to say, under a kilo or two a day)? Thanks in advance
Well , I know these ssweet fruits cannot be added on the induction. but I mean Id like to have an advice about how to add them on latter phases. I tried it once , and I ate too many of them at once, as if I was on mantainence, and I ate them with crean. I believe I had a Insulin surge , because I noticed I gained some belly fat.
I believe that the fact that I ate too much fruit altoghetrer at once maybe caused a rush on insulin that Would not happen if I decided to separate the fruit in small
Hi I want to say thanks for your vids they are very helpful. Then a question what type of protein shake do you use & do you drink those anytime or meal replacement ? thanks
blend 1 avocado with unsweetened cocoa powder and add some strawberries and maybe even rasberries to sweeten. makes a chocolate fruit mousse! you cant even tell the avocado is there cause its black from the cocoa.
if its not sweet enough i add a bit of agave nectar or honey. honey is probably better anyway as it is pure and from nature. i try to stay away from splenda junk but stevia works better as it comes from a plant. i just dont trust man-made sugars. sprinkle with nuts too, its quite decadent
Jimmy, its your biggest fan Redneck500 again, I just got done watching this video. I totally agree, when your not shoving all that junk in your body, food like the cantaloupe is just DEE-Lish-I-ous :D
I'm sorry you don't like our videos RRNN500. We try to be real people in our videos and have fun while sharing as accurate information as possible. I'd be happy to hear what you think is "wrong" in our videos, so don't hesitate to e-mail me anytime at livinlowcarbman at charter dote net. I appreciate your feedback! :)
angelam1985, thanks for the question. My personal experience is that most everyone has
this same problem. It happened for me too. I noticed I was losing weight in my face before any other area. The same thing for my father. It is harder for women to lose weight, but I think the waistline issue is universal. I hope this helps.
Don't get discouraged. Just keep doing what you are doing. If you need anything else, just let us know. We're here to help.
I HAVE A QUESTION FOR CHRISTINE every month i take my inches but im noticing my waist is always the last place that loses inches ia this a woman thing or just the way my body loses weight
Thank you thank you thank you! My best friend has done Atkins Induction and maintenence in the past and is back on induction to lose a bit more and I decided to join her. Your vids give me hope and I have made it to week 3! :) I am feeling so much better--no more carb haze, brain drunk on sugar..Thanks for your ideas!!! Huggs!
you can put sweeteners on some fruits if you want, there are lots of great sweeteners avaliable on the market, sugar is not needed for a sweet flavour.
Dude great video, im starting a low carb life this week...your videos are very helpfull, but i cant help looking at you eating that melon...lol ... thanx!!
During Induction, no, fruit is not good. But some people can begin adding back berries and melons during the OWL (Ongoing Weight Loss) phase and definitely in Maintenance.
Nope! Sure, early on it tasted bad in my mouth, but that's just excess ketones that are formed when you are BURNING STORED FAT! Yippee! Just pop a sugar-free mint early on if it worries you, but shedding the pounds is a wee bit more important. THANKS for your comment.
wow! I had no idea you can eat fruit on atkins!!! I've been missing out cause I love canteloupe and honey dew! Ok, I have a question....since I just started the atkins diet...again :( like less then 24 hours ago, can I have fruit right away or do i have to wait a while?
Hey Tony! THANKS for your comments! Yes, you can have low-glycemic fruits on the Atkins diet. But you need to wait until your body is in ketosis and determine how many carbs your body can handle. The sugar in the melon will kick you out of ketosis early, so hold off for now. READ DR. ATKINS' NEW DIET REVOLUTION!
Yeah, I know what you mean about eating fruit before a low carb diet. I had an apple the other day and it blew me away of how good it tasted. This diet makes you enjoy and appreciate all the foods we were meant to eat.
Natural sugars in foods are WAY better than any of that processed crap they load up our foods with nowadays. I couldn't believe how sweet ALMONDS were until I kicked my sugar habit. :)
That might make for a great follow-up video, but I'll share briefly here. Find a quality protein powder, mix it in the blender with heavy whipping cream, a little DaVinci syrup, your favorite fruit, and ice. Voila!
She's much more soft-spoken than I am, Del. I'm working on getting her to speak up in the videos. Plus, we're gonna turn down the music. Still getting used to this YouTube thing. :D THANKS for the feedback!
CONGRATULATIONS, JanBell111! I'm so proud of you and wish you continued success in this journey to better health through the low-carb lifestyle! Keep watching and keep on livin' la vida low-carb.
WOW Jimmy & Christine, This was an excellent point to bring up. Hubby & I got a new house & our yard is full of fruit trees & berries! I prefer fruit over things like chocolate cake any day, so its wonderful to know when I am feeling like a cheat, I can turn to a healthy one! thank you!
What's amazing is how fruits like berries and melons, which to me used to taste terrible before I stopped eating sugar in 2004, now taste absolutely divine! Put a little cream cheese or Splenda-sweetened heavy whipping cream on top and it's a delightful treat.
Although I still LOVE my chocolate. Only now I have the sugar-free, low-carb versions like ChocoPerfection bars. You can even melt this over top of frozen blueberries and they taste divine! Mmm mmm!
If they really knew as much as they purport, then obesity and disease would be eradicated, right? As Dr. Phil says, "How's that workin' for ya?" THANKS for your comment, BarbaraJean!
"Yeppers!" I still have at least one apple per day, along with olives, pickles, tomato juice...and always enjoy low-starch veggies when I can get them.
J&C, this new format shows awesome potential for your message - "Louie, this could be the beginning of a beautiful (media) friendship..." Christine, you are hot, hot, hot - believe it from a guy! i was wondering.. did u watch the video Atkins diet warning here on youtube by Matt Stone? eh... Robert Atkins DiD Warn Us AGAINST dieting..

You have to keep in mind the sugar content of those fruits. You might as well be eating candy metabolically speaking.

hey jimmy!!...i have a question...i love crab and cream cheese wontons do you have any idea how to substitute the skin for some "low carb skin"?
SexyEyez89 3 years ago
What is the "skin" made of? If it's fat, then you should be okay.
livinlowcarbman 3 years ago
umm..i believe its made out of some type of flour and oil and usually comes in a pack and cut into small squares.
SexyEyez89 3 years ago
Hmmm, you might try using a low-carb flour substitute like CarbQuik or almond flour and mix it with coconut oil or butter. :)
