Your're antihuman if you don't believe in cleaning up the only home we all have and passing down a cleaner environment for your kids sake and all future generations of life to come. This is a moral issue and isn't about throwing immature labels at each other. This is also NOT a "hippy" movement, because it's now 2008, not 1969.

We're all in this together - what happens to the polar bears in the Arctic is what happens to penguins in the Antarctic is what happens to trees in the rainforest is what happens to humans all over the world.
There is no "them" against us, any more than there is a "there" to throw our garbage without consequences.
When the bears are gone, who won't you care about next? The East Coast? The West Coast? The next town over? The next family over? Your children?

The [anthropogenic] global warming movement deserves a bad name, because: It's a LIE.
The earh has warmed and cooled for it's entire existance. GW is caused by the interaction between cosmic radiation, which causes more cloud formation, and solar flareups, which deflect the cosmic rays, resulting in the earth warming. Look up "Maunder Minimum, or the "Little Ice Age", which occured in the 1800's. Global cooling is far more a reality, as we are headed into Solar Cyclc 24, and a solar minimum.

1. It's a shame that there weren't more passers-by to see him; it looked a little absurd and sad that he was waving to no one.

The polar bear is not going extint, their numbers are up to over 25,000 now, from around 5,000 in the 1970's. The polar bear is NOT some warm & cuddly thing that smiles and plays music when you squeeze it's tummy.
It is a viscious predator that has been known to stalk a man for over 50 miles, and can swim over 60 miles in one day. They have been around for one hundred thousand years, kicking seal and walrus ass and taking Eskimo's names along the way.
It will survive even without you.

In case you missed the significance of this:
Listing the polar bear would set important precedent by forcing the administration to concede the severity of the global warming crisis.
They would essentially be acknowledging the that a rapid, dramatic reduction in greenhouse gas emissions is necessary to prevent the extinction of the species.
