hey motorz, i have a 2008 dodge caliber 2.0L and i wanna get a new exaust that makes it sound kinda sporty. what do you recomend. i work at a tool store so i can get a jack and jackstands easy. would it be cheaper to go to a shop and have them do it or buy the kit (if there is one) and install it myself. thanks.
@bigfitz1992 We haven't installed an exhaust on that specific vehicle but it shouldn't be too different from any other cat-back exhaust install. It's always cheaper to install yourself! As for the sound note you'd like, I recommend visiting manufacturer's websites as they usually have sound bites that you can listen to. We've had good luck with Magnaflow, Gibson, Borla, and Flowmaster, but there are plenty others you should check out.
I stopped watching after 4 minutes when you said you need a lift anyway to get the new pipes in....why would you even start installing if you can't finish it at home?
@motorztv yet again thanks alot just curious because a local dealer has a 05 gt with a ealenor style bodykit and produces 810 bhp so i'd like that too
you dont have to remove the black rubber holders right? i mean you can just loosen them and then slide the exhaust out right? all without touching the rest of the pipe.
A lift is recommended but installing the over axle pipes can be done without a lift if you have a good level floor, two mid height jack stands under the axle housing, and unloading the ride height by placing a jack on the proper jack location in front of each rear wheel and slowly lifting the vehicle ( one side at a time) to lift the body. Then when you go to remove the pipes twist and turn towards the oppisite side of the car and they will come out fairly easy, But using a lift is much safer.
Please do a install on a 2010 jeep grand cherokee laredo 5.7 V8! I'm saving up to buy ya'lls exhaust I kind of know how to do it. but I wana see a demo of it.
Sounds great, but that over the axel pipe work is discouraging me. I'd love to do the whole job on a warm Saturday w/o a lift. If I cut the pipes like in the video I'd still have to lift up the car fairly high to install the new ones yes?
You don't need to take the hangers off to get the mufflers off. Also if you undo your shock bolts and let the axle drop, you can remove and install the midpipes without cutting them.
Although i had the pleasure of changing mine out with a lift, i can see how easy it was to do with jacks & stands. One thing i'm not 100% sold on is the removal of the muffler hangers, i don't think that was necessary. I didn't remove mine when i changed them out - but again, i had a lift, easier to get to i suppose. ? which magnaflows were these ? mine are the Magnaflow 3" aggressive catback 16674 exhaust with 4" tips.. and these look different than mine. again... AWESOME SHOW!!!
Thanks for the comment. We changed up the intro a bit to give the viewer a little bit more info as to what I'm about to show them how to install. Which do you prefer?
Im thinking of getting a Sebring White Hooker (2x 90mm) exhaust for my Golf 3 1.8 CL
Good pick ?

MysticDMBherb 4 months ago
@MysticDMBherb It depends on the exhaust and the vehicle, but it's definitely possible if you safely jack up your car.
