I started with the american office, it was pretty funny. Then i started watching the uk office even though it was hard at first because it was so different in a way. After a while you realize how hilarious and genius uk office is, but that doesn't mean that the american version immediately turns to shit... it's still funny the first few seasons, after that they stretched it too far like all american shows.

I don't think that part was the apex of the joke, it was just the build up, so I didn't find that funny either, even now that he's repeated it many times in his stand-ups, but now that I've seen the final two parts, I do agree that some of it seems forced.
