  • Best! ;-)

  • I wonder what this would like with modern recording equipment. That's the reason I rarely listen to things recorded before 1995 haha.

  • Awesome album. All of it!!!!!!! Peace and Love

  • Al Pacino brought me here.

  • the 70s were amazing music times Faith.

  • Sometimes I wish I was around in the 70s to experience this kind of stuff.

  • THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

  • imho,, Yellow Brick Road is a better album,, but this is pretty damned good

  • @DigJam53 Back in the mid seventies, I considered Goodbye Yellow Brick Road the best Elton album because I was so familiar with most of the songs from hearing them on the radio. Tiumbleweed Connection and Madman Across the Water were largely ignored because neither album contained big hits. Today, while I still enjoy GYBR, it is those other two albums I listen to the most. Each one is a cohesive set of songs that fit together thematically, and are meant to be listened to at one time.EJ's best

  • I can see you sitting eating apples in the evening, the fruit juice flowing slowly, slowly, slowly down the bronze of your body.

  • a breath of fresh air

  • This is a masterpiece. Best song of Tumbleweed Connection, although the whole album is great. The way this song was used in Dog Day Afternoon was pure genius.

  • @Andy1Emcee Sorry but nope. My Fathers Gun is one of if not the most brilliant of this LP.

  • @MrFBCBSALES

Doesn't get much better than My Father's Gun. Good choice.

  • this is a pretty complex song, musically O_o

    i'm impressed.

  • "Sonny theres a lady under the desk.".........

"Anybody here ...What's this a squirrel."

  • Thanks a ton for another wonderful album upload.

  • It was 1970 when I took a giant shit...

Best line from Dog Day Afternoon

  • A master piece.

  • i miss you amoreena

like a king bee misses honey

  • Right ON, John!~ This is one of the best albums ever! Elton is a master melodian!

  • Best song on the album.

  • good song, but the best on Tumbleweed Connection, I respect your opinion, but I would definitely rate Come Down in Time, Where to Now Saint Peter?, and Burn Down the Mission higher, but quite an album, we had one FM radio in the house and my older borther listened to this stuff, I fell asleep to it, great times, great music, lots of stuff I had fogotten about and rediscovered through the wonders of youtube.

  • Gold Jerry ! Pure Gold....

  • lateiy i ben thinkin'

  • "i can see you sitting, eating apples in the evening...

the fruit juice flowing slowly, slowly, slowly down the bronze of your body."

a very sensuous, intelligent song. this and "come down in time" are two of my absolute favorites. they're part of the soundtrack of my life.

  • Best song on Tumbleweed Connection, bar none. Stands high above the rest of the songs on the album. Its perfect in the opening scene of Dog Day Afternoon too.

  • the best openings for any movie

  • greatest musical opening to any movie... temp 100+... Bronx... Brooklyn... can't remember... stoned in the theatre in 75

  • @58telecaster you're lucky to have experienced the '70s. I'm from NYC too man and I wish I'd been born early enough to experience the 70s.

  • I was in college in the midwest in the mid 80's and I can remember hearing this song on my cassette deck with my girlfriend who was a southern belle driving in this country college town. Great times. I just kept thinking I am living this moment that I will never forget. Not bad for a guy from Los Angeles....This song will always be special to me..

  • Wyoming's not a country...

  • Man, when Elton was on, he was on.

  • AMAZING SONG!

  • i love this song your amazing 4 doing this song!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this song so much

  • I just love this album! Shortly afterward, Elton went "glam," and his music changed. But this album, and particularly this song, meant a lot to me. I wore out my LP. so great to hear it again.

  • ATTICA!

  • This is actually my favorite Elton John Album, 'cause it's from when I began living like a lusty flower!!!

  • DOG DAY AFTERNOON!!!

  • me at 18 in 75

  • me at 18...back in 75

  • Thank You to the person who originally posted this great song. Elton doesn't write his own lyrics, however, he sure can play and sing!

  • grmountmn must be quite jealous of Ronaldo Maximus, since his utter confusion concerning reality and Mrs. Reagan is obviously delusional transference from his political infatuation with current trillion dollar deficit daddy named Obama...

  • ATTICA! ATTICA!ATTICA!ATTICA!

  • One of the best albums ever.....Can't copy him and perform his tunes....Only one EJ voice prior to the disco era.....Always love it and will listen to this til the day I die

  • Elton you are amazing and timeless!!!!! Thanks for this amazing song and all the others!!!

  • MAY THE LIGHT OF ENGLISH ROCK CONTINUE.

  • @FRANCECHILD Yes there was some absolute British genius going on around this period wasn't there?

Lets see Elton, Dave Mason, Frampton, Yes, Genesis, Deep Purple, Gentle Giant, goes on and on.

    Long Live it!!

  • What the hell is wrong with you people/ This place is not for hate. it is to enjoy music and youfreaking make nonsensical bigoted remarks...I'm hispanic, i'm a man. want to deal with me? do you not believe in love/ this country was founded on premises and those who bastardize is , should look elsewhere. Yes, i will take you on to protect our people, our nation whether gay or not, we are human.

  • @BareNakedBather Well said.

  • @BareNakedBather Dude relax, ignorant is as ignorant is! You expect 100% of the society to be normal, that is NOT gonna happen. Cockroaches come out of every corner regardless. Simply enjoy the fact that TUMBLEWEED is a masterpiece and you are one of those capable of absorbing this fact. The rest are not only irrelevant but they are also pathetic!

    ENJOY!

  • Comment removed

  • @BareNakedBather Oh no, why just enjoy a track from arguably Elton and Bernie's best album, when you can

anonymously act (probably not an act) like a complete horse's ass instead? Isn't that the credo on You Tube?

  • @BareNakedBather Preach, Brother. Music is supposed to unite a world so severely divided by things like religion and hate. Lets just enjoy this music for what it is: A gift from a genius.

  • My mom wanted me to play and sing this song at her funeral, does anybody have sheet music with just the vocals and piano?

  • hard to imagine a song such as this arousing such emotion. No, it's not the song that has done such a thing. The world pretty much "knew" about "Liberace". Still I remember the little "blue haired Old ladies loving him". seems although The modern world would call the older generations bigoted. Some how the art, the music, made it's way through whatever views which could mean worry for the soul of such, or pity. The Music rose above the personal life of such. Argue about morality? not here folks.

  • @TheHispanicRebel

I would like to say, very quietly, that I am at a loss for words just why you would go through the process to make this comment. If you are going through a particularly difficult time in your life, may I wish you peace with hope that you soon find a resolution.

  • @TheHispanicRebel AGREED! I don't like queers either but Hispanics are the worst.

  • @xxx69ajj69xxx hahaha. like u have a place to talk u fuckin ape. maybe u like listening to dis song with ur boyfriend. leave me da fuck alone u racist gay.

  • @xxx69ajj69xxx I'm fairly certain Elton John and Bernie Taupin didn't write this song to elicit moronic comments...but then again this is YouTube isn't it, where we can never just enjoy the tunes and shut up.

  • @17865329 What you said.

  • @TheHispanicRebel Yep, that makes a big difference to the quality of this song, written and recorded in 1970,

    MORON.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheHispanicRebel I happen to be heterosexual, I don't however judge music by the orientation of the artist,

I do however judge moronic YouTube trolls by the idiocy of their posts.

  • @TheHispanicRebel Have you ever heard the phrase "Tho Protests To Loudly" and what it means when someone protests to loudly? You might want to look it up before you continue with you're hateful remarks. I'm also sorry that you have to bash and put others down just so you can feel better about yourself. It's truly sad.

  • probably the best song on defenatly eltons best album no if ands or buts

  • I love this album. Not a bad song all the way through.

  • This song makes me think of amenorrhea.

  • i've often tried to live like a lusty flower.

  • @bassplayer19 Me too! Wait a minute, I DID!!! LOL.

  • A great song from an even greater L.P.! "Tumbleweed Connection" is on a very short list of the greatest from the 70's, if not from all time!

  • Dog Day Afternoon! :)

  • @dodgerdaw1 Attica!

  • I read about Elton in 'Jackie' in early '71.My mate and i looked at his photo in school. She thought he looked insipid but I fancied him. I bought 'Your Song', then the album 'Tumbleweed' My mum died at this time and these songs remind me of this time. Later I dumped him for Marc Bolan when 'Get it on' came out, but Reggie sure wrote some great songs.

  • i love this song except the first 2 chords sound like clifford

  • The Drumming on this song is absolutely perfect ......wow

  • What a magnificent album! Elton's new album The Union, with Leon Russell, has been getting rave reviews: "a revelation, brilliant, soulful, special, terrific, a triumph, rejuvenating, truly great, best album of 2010, best by either Elton or Leon for many years, a perfect union, extraordinary, mighty, charming, back to glory, a happy reunion indeed...", 5 stars in Rolling Stone

  • Elton was on fire, during this period of Time, what a beautiful time it was,

  • Who did the drumming on this album? What a masterpiece of percussion...just enough but not too much.

  • @clyde8her Nigel Olsson - awesome

  • @clyde8her i think davie johnson did the drumming

  • theme to 'dog day afternoon'

  • Elton John

  • The Tumbleweed Connection album produced some fantastic choruses. And when it rain the RAIN falls dohowown! That last one gives me goosebumps.

  • Dog day afternoon! :)

  • attica!!!!!!!

  • lol.. I was named after this song..

  • @spookynative whats your name

  • This is the first Elton John song to feature Dee Murray and Nigel Olsson.

  • Reminds me of my childhood

and Dog Day Afternoon of course haha

  • what country you wanna go to sal? wyoming..ahahahaha

  • Che canzone straordinaria. Nessuno come Elton, qui c'è fame e sudore e lacrime.

  • @Perfidia4ever wow, bel commento :-) !

  • John Cazale.....SAL!

  • @parisnokodomo Sorry for jerks--they are everywhere.Love yourself!

  • @parisnokodomo So talented. He is missed <3 RIP

  • @KalashnikovBoy94 he's not dead

  • @KalashnikovBoy94 He's not dead!

  • @mmedeuxchevaux Yes he is. Cancer. 70's. Look him up

  • @KalashnikovBoy94 If you mean Cazale, yes he's dead.

  • @parisnokodomo I bark...See him?...He bites!!..

  • @parisnokodomo RIP one of the greatest, soft spoken actors of all time.

  • @parisnokodomo this was used as the theme from the movie dog day afternoon as you said the bank robber was a real life bank robber with the same name as my cousin who caught a bank robber and won an award then he died of cancer like john cazale

  • I'm compelled: ATTICA, ATTICA...

  • Ah, I LOVE this song! Whenever it plays, I see... bank robbers. Why is that? =P

  • Dog Day Afternoon!

  • One of the best songs on the album. This one is a timeless classic.

  • @CR65 It is one of my favorite albums of all time. Reg at his best!

  • omg, i remember learning every piano lick on this when i was about 11. still playin piano for a living. i was excited about elton, because no many bands used a regular piano planer, maybe organ. but here was great rock music with acoustic piano out front. very innovative and I could see this at that tender age. i remember laughing when my brother spilled hawaiian punch down his chest while the record was at that line about fruit juice down the front of my body.

  • my heros have always been cowboys..!!

  • Hey grmountmn the Dems controled the house and senate. Reagan just signed the bills they passed. Get a clue.

  • Dog Day Afternoon

  • Dog Day Afternoon

  • Why are people writing comments about politics when they should just enjoy the music? If you don't like the music type something else into the Youtube search box.

  • @sofritopapi I love this type of music. I was getting attacked on here and you're right I should ignore it. Sorry.

  • ATTICA! ATTICA!

  • Fiat Lux!. Elder Tom.

  • Tumbleweed Connection and Madman are Art. Rest is fluffer/

  • Comment removed

  • @AUS10TEX I agree and gave a thumbs up but Honky Chateau and Yellow Brick had some good moments, and fluffer.

  • Wasn't Nancy knocked up by divorce Reagan before they were married? Since he trippled the debt we'd be better served with his pic on a credit card,

  • @grmountmn Looks like ODrama beat him hands down. Or does that count?

  • Good group of Elton posts Nalencer. I was 14 when this album came out and was one of the few early fans of Elton in my school in western PA.

  • @ZELIG500 Awsome post. I hope they put him on the 50 dollar bill and reanimate his dead body to scare those goose steping Chinese and Russians to stay in freeking Asia where they belong. I am not being sarcastic.

  • I dig brother. This libtard bullshit is getting tiresome. If we don't start setting the record straight -- and taking on these liberal windbags wherever they pop up -- they'll just go on feeding their commie crap to their young.

  • Liberals are not communists! Without liberals, we'd all still be living in caves.

Things have to change, they can't always stay the same. This country is a melting pot from people from other countries. That's why they came here, to be able to speak their minds, without fear of being jailed or killed. If all the people who don't want to live together, I say send them all to an island and they can be happy together with all the others like them!

  • @keaster55 the libs or more correctly Dems had it their way we'd never be able to object to a thing they do. They love to hide behind Obama's skin color and btw MLK was a Republican and so was Jackie Robinson. You confuse socially open with liberalism which would have all religeons bannished and I think this country was founded on freedom of religeon. Oh and yes many many Libs are communists in waiting even if you're not. Want proof?see who they blame first on any issue a conservative or a comm

  • @scorpiovike Alot of liberals believe in religion, regardless of their denomination. But under the Republicans, the 1st ammendment (freedom of speech) & the 4th ammendment (illegal search & seizures) have disappeared! The FBI can sneak & peek while you're not even home! Totally against our constitution! When Bush was giving a speech, the protestors were sent miles away. The world hated Bush Jr. Burned him in effigy almost everywhere in Europe.

  • @keaster55 woah, they destroyed that guy who yelled, "you lie" at obama. We're losing many more freedoms under this "liberal"

  • @goodbyeisthenewhello "That guy" was a member of our Congress. No one in our government ever yelled you lie at Bush who lied through his teeth. You expect that from some schmo on the street, not a member of our elected government. In that context, it was totally inappropriate. And he is still in Congress, he wasn't destroyed or kicked out! If you want to hear people destroy others, listen to FOX News. Goodbye.

  • @keaster55 Hey Hippie chick, the Dems started Viet Nam amd MLK was a Republican. Now go ahead and come back with "oh yeah but he was gay or some trite BS like you guys always do i.e. Lincoln". I thought you guys were "liberal" you don't even know what it means (for the most part... I am generalizing, I don't know you but you are chanting the party line bs. Here's one: "Yeah anyone whose not Pro-USA!" Idiots!

  • @scorpiovike We were in Vietnam in the late 50's, while Eisenhower was President. I know MLK was a republican, but I liked to hear him speak. He was so eloquent. Not like Bush, Jr. who couldn't talk. Even with giving bad news, he always had that smirk and grin on his face. I'm not against all Repulicans. I like Ron Paul and people that actually "get it". And loved Lincoln, a Repulican because he freed the slaves!

  • @keaster55 '55 - '75

  • @Hemingway271 Oh, yea, I finally figured out you're talking about the Vietnam War. It took me awhile. I worked with a Vietnamese couple, who were able to get out on the airlift in Saigon. They both worked 2 jobs, now own 2 restaurants! And the wife helped create an Vietnamese-French restaurant with the best chef in our town. Very upscale!

  • @scorpiovike Actually, Eisenhower created the domino theory and we were sending arms and aid to the French fight there. But you are right, we didn't arrive until 1961. The domino theory turned out to be false. Was reading up on it on Google. But the help from us started in the 50's.

  • @keaster55 and you would have us beleive that conservatives are racists. This country was founded on immigrants not illegal immagrants... you want credit for getting us out of caves? We'd be speaking German if it was up to you guys. I actually am socially tolerant of almost all but you guys think you cornered the market on thinking.

  • @scorpiovike You can credit FDR & Harry Truman for winning WWII. Both, by the way were Democrats! If not for the laws of today, the slaves that came to this country to build it would be illegal immigrants. Because back then it was legal to own slaves. Lincoln might have freed them, but it took 100 years & a Democrat Lyndon Johnson to sign the Civil Rights Act. Jim Crow & the KKK were still lynching them into the early 60's.

  • Comment removed

  • @ZELIG500 Sarah Palin wouldn't like your word libtard. People who have children with developmental disabilites do NOT like the word retarded or any derivative of it. You are confusing Socialism w/ Communism. Socialism gives everyone a fair share, while Communism bows to the dictator & gets nothing! Eisenhower, Reagan & Bush Sr. were all cheaters! If you socialize medicine it doesn't mean you will have a socialized country. You'll be feeding your children your conservative crap! Such hatred!

  • @MWBrrr i'd rather see him on the 20 i never liked jackson..

  • @darkmoon123321 Amen! Jackson did some great things but some unforgiveable stuff too. Reagan really got it!

  • @scorpiovike What Jackson are you referring to? Andrew Jackson?

  • @keaster55 Yeah Andrew Jackson. Someone had put that Reagan should replace him on the twenty and he does seem like the most replace-able of the figures on the 1 - 100 bills. Hate to see Hamilton (Alexander) go even less recognized then he is. Probably our greatest American in a lot ways. Maybe behind MLK. BTW, I am no lib so don't get me wrong.

  • @scorpiovike I beleive in his simple reasoning Ronny thought he was doing the work of the almighty. Still ya "Don't need a weatherman-to see which way the wind blows. Or should it be repeated...Don't look to leaders or parking meters. No Matter the next generation will have less of an Idea of who that guy on the "TWENTY DOLLAR BILL" is or was....

  • He loses points from me because of the war on drugs :P.

    J/K

  • I like him all the better for that.

  • @ZELIG500 By the way, the Berlin Wall came down in 1989, after Reagan had left office. So you can't give him all the credit. The USSR broke up into many different countries, after Reagan. And they are now a capitalist country with billionaires, alot of prostitution, drugs and thugs. And of course, a high rate of alcoholism. They do love their Vodka!

  • thanks for the post i love this song

  • Dog Day Afternoon opening

  • A great movie. Al Pacino at his best, young & cute. I've seen it probably a dozen times, and love that this song starts the movie. And a true story! Poor Sunny! Poor Sal! He got shot & didn't even want to be there, after those stupid cops showed up before they were out of the bank. That's why they don't try to stop bankrobbers anymore, they just film them and find them. So no more hostage situations! Attica! Attica! Watch the movie Against the Wall, a true story of the prison riots there.

  • Yep, funny movie. Al Pacino did so awesome, you can see his dedication through the exhaustion. He passed out at the end because of it. Poor baby. And yeah...cute is soooo an understatement. Anyways, love this song.

  • I just posted a cover of this song. (mine isn't very good)

  • My last comment was about kitchawan's post. You were right on!

  • The most beautiful song Elton ever wrote. And Tumbleweed Connection is his best album by far, Madman Across the Water, being second. All the songs on this album are great!

  • @keaster55 good points. as a liberal (old sense) englishman, i wish you were president.

  • Had this album (not cd, album) in my previous life. What an album! Now I have the cd which I play in the office so the youngin's can get introduced to some real music!

  • shame on me, I'd forgotten just how great, the songs that came from Elton & Bernie & the band.

He seems so far away from "tumbleweed connection" these days, but so was I till I found it again on youtube. I'll be a bit less critical of the man after revisting my high school years, through these songs. Back when FM radio was something bizzare almost anti-establishment. And slide forward to 2009 and ask a high schooler what AM radio is? all the best to you Elton and Bernie

  • i named my cat amoreena after i bought this album in high school! not cd, album.

  • This album is off the charts, crazy good songs.

  • I love this album one of Elton's best, Bernie's lyrics match the mood, I love this song!!

  • Too bad EJ doesn't include this in his *live* repertoire more often. It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard... Lost love certainly is an incredible muse.

  • Put the guns down!
