love gentle giant and this was incredible, i always wondered how they managed too pull this off vocally and you just did it on GUITAR!!! haha hope too see more
Thank you godu. Worked it on my own but at some point I consulted the different lines for this on Phil Smith's transcription, you can find some sheet music at GG Official Website.
Great job! And thank you for the shout-out on the transcriptions...If you search gendes giant on reflection you can see my band attempting this vocally (that's me, playing piano and singing the 5th part.) LOVE it on guitar - brilliant!
Hi Phil, couldn't have made it without those transcriptions of yours. Thanks a lot to you! I'll check those videos soon, and thanks again for stopping by.
Excellent work my friend!I had ideas with this tune a long time favorite, along the same lines with multilple parts but with a 12 string in the mix...............I have been inspired to attempt. Thanks!
Amazing and awe-inspiring! You picked a great band and tune to highlight your superior musical skills and development. GREAT job. 5 stars without a doubt! (7, if I could)!
very very well man!! Its great to hear it on guitar arrangement!! I think you just got a couple of notes wrong on the harmonies at the end of the first movement, but its a great job you did!!!, did you transcribed by ear?, I have transcrbd a lot of guitar oriented GG songs, if yo got more, maybe we can exchange some, take care and keep it up!!
Very well done! How did you manage to get all the melodies apart? I tried Talibont, from the same wonderfull Gentle Giant album: Free Hand. Back in those day's I had to do it with only tape overdubs...and one guitar.
It's part of Phil Smith's transcription and part me. I tried to get the melodies apart from a live video recording at first but later I remembered this guy who had been transcribing some GG music so I looked at their website and there I found the score with all the voices. I've put the link on the description of the video.
Truly Truly Amazing! I have an arrangement of "His Last Voyage" (done on my Yamaha 4 track) on a 6 string guitar in C, with a 12 string, one step tuned down to D, with a mandolin subsituting bass. It sounds really good, though I think I can do it it better. You've given me some great ideas. Thanks.
Incredibly well done. For some reason, the complexity of this arrangement stands out more on guitar to me than the original voice version. There will never be another like the Giant!
Man! I'm looking for the partition of this vocal knot for months! Could you give it to me?

@Bumblebulgare Phil Smith's transcribed it and it's on the GG official website. Go to the link in the video description.

This is just fantastic! 1:15 - 1:22 gets me every time, it's like the music from Bagpuss but played in four dimensions and twice as fast.

Yeah, it's a great song. One of the best by GG. Thank you.

That´s great ihatetheblues! I´m anxious to listen to it and see how you make it work. It looks really good.
I´d also like to do stuff with 12-string guitars but they´re a little harsh for me in terms of digitation at the moment.
