Actually the new 2011 maplestory chaos patch has PvP now so suck it, and runescape is nerdier, and there are no longer just 4 classes in maple, there are almost 15 so agian.....suck it
I began to play runescape in early 2005 and maplestory in early 2007. They are both enjoyable games but here is the good and the bad side of both:
1) Maplestory's training gameplay is a lot more interesting and unique then runescape because you can run jump and press buttons to attack the animals. In runescape you just click.
2) Runescape offers you a diverse list of skills you can train and is not just about killing things. You can fish, cook, mine, etc.

There IS investing and merchandising unlike Runescape. in Febuary an 10 Attack Work glove was worth 145 Mil in Khaini. Now its worth 200 mil. This is a review of both games im not a fan boy of any game and i have tried both this is April 2011 review
1.Graphics the graphics in runescape HD is great compared to maplestory as runescape is 3D and maplestory is 2D people say runescape graphics are horrible but that was before the runescape HD update
2. Monsters in runescape are very detailed and creative like not anything else you see in other games unlike maplestory which is simple and NOT ORIGINAL

But here's the kicker, the fastest one person has ever gotten lvl 200 is about three days it did include x8 exp but wutever that's what 24 days? And how many skills do u have to max out a char? Plus the fact that from 97 to 98 is almost as hard

Maplestory is unique because, it's a platform-RPG and the game executes it well. The game atmosphere is warm, fun feeling especially the music but it gets boring after a while. Lots of different items and loot. When you level up you have to use skill points and when you mess up its screwed esp. after lots of hardwork. Grinding is a key element - a big negative. Game seems childish and dumb. The big positive is the fact there is a Maplestory app for iphone which is identical to PC version.
@themenanman Tbh, Maplestory isn't unique at all. There are many other MMOs out there that are just like it in various ways. Two good examples of the 'unique' category are: Atlantica Online and Runescape.
Runescape is a true MMORPG and it has been severely updated to add more content. The skills are uniquely developed in a way that its easy to get 70 in all skills but because of exponential growth, you need to grind your way to 99 but it's very fun because you still unlock stuff to help you train. Dungeoneering is a new skill introduced into Runescape and it's really fun especially doing dungeons with friends. The cons, Runescape is full of bots and hackers and it's economy is fucked up.

Or are you talking about hackers that hack accounts? Imo, the difference between the amount of hackers(that hack accounts) in Runescape and Maplestory are very minor...they both have a lot of hackers(that hack accounts) though.
I think maplestory is more for casual gamers and runescape is more for serious gamers.. runescape is very good , and it is definetly easier in higher levels, and the tutorial is nice also. I dont see what you dislike about the maplestory tutorial. It taught me everything i need to know. Runescape definetly pwns when it comes to pvp. The closest thing to pvp in maplestory is seeing who can kill more monsters. Maplestory is more fun in lower levels, and runescape is more fun in higher levels.
@thekiller299999 I liked the old tutorial for Runescape much more than the new one. The old one had a certain atmosphere that gave me a calm, relaxing feeling. The new one however....no....it gives me the 'boring' and 'sad' and 'this game is gonna suck. huh?' vibes.

Runescape has the title of the best mmo out there for a reason, the graphics are now on par with WoW and game play is far better than ms. btw Nexon has been known to steal money from paypal accounts and ms has viruses as well, whereas runescape doesnt and never will. i use to play runescape, for several years i wasted time. less than a week ago i started to play wow and was finally able to see how much of current runescape is stolen from wow. They are both quality games, except runescape takes to long to level.. 1 skill cape = 1 80 in wow. Runescape use to be unique, but recently has just become a downgraded version of wow, jagex needs to change things for the better...

Maplestory is basically not a f2p game, nor is runescape. But runescape is MUCH cheaper. I am currently playing both trying to decide which one to play. I have spent 5$ on runescape and had a well funded lvl 56. on maplestory I have had about 4 lvl 40's because thats when i always get bored and want to make a new char, and I have spent 60-70 dollars on that crap. So now I have to force myself to quit buying nx because it is the only way I have any money on that game.

I began to play runescape in early 2005 and maplestory in early 2007. They are both enjoyable games but here is the good and the bad side of both:
1) Maplestory's training gameplay is a lot more interesting and unique then runescape because you can run jump and press buttons to attack the animals. In runescape you just click.
2) Runescape offers you a diverse list of skills you can train and is not just about killing things. You can fish, cook, mine, etc.
They are both fantastic but Rs > Ms !!

There IS investing and merchandising unlike Runescape. in Febuary an 10 Attack Work glove was worth 145 Mil in Khaini. Now its worth 200 mil. Prices increase and decrease its an actual economy unlike Runescape.

Combat is much better. I'd like to control when I hit a monster.
Economy is so much more stabilized.. there is a set price for everything and you dont get ripped off just because you're a noob.
Developers aren't as good only because they are from Korea. Nexon America is doing fine but it could be better.

2.Continued The most of the monsters in maplestory are different colors to each color as an excuse to not wanting to make more different monsters some monsters in maplestory are copies of what we see in the real world.
3.Cost In runescape the cost of membership is fairly cheap only $6 per month whereas you get points in maplestory so it can cost a lot of money in runescape when you get membership you get EVERYTHING whereas maple story you buy points and you dont get everything

This is a review of both games im not a fan boy of any game and i have tried both this is April 2011 review
1.Graphics the graphics in runescape HD is great compared to maplestory as runescape is 3D and maplestory is 2D people say runescape graphics are horrible but that was before the runescape HD update
2. Monsters in runescape are very detailed and creative like not anything else you see in other games unlike maplestory which is simple and NOT ORIGINAL

But here's the kicker, the fastest one person has ever gotten lvl 200 is about three days it did include x8 exp but wutever that's what 24 days? And how many skills do u have to max out a char? Plus the fact that from 97 to 98 is almost as hard

Maplestory is unique because, it's a platform-RPG and the game executes it well. The game atmosphere is warm, fun feeling especially the music but it gets boring after a while. Lots of different items and loot. When you level up you have to use skill points and when you mess up its screwed esp. after lots of hardwork. Grinding is a key element - a big negative. Game seems childish and dumb. The big positive is the fact there is a Maplestory app for iphone which is identical to PC version.

Runescape is a true MMORPG and it has been severely updated to add more content. The skills are uniquely developed in a way that its easy to get 70 in all skills but because of exponential growth, you need to grind your way to 99 but it's very fun because you still unlock stuff to help you train. Dungeoneering is a new skill introduced into Runescape and it's really fun especially doing dungeons with friends. The cons, Runescape is full of bots and hackers and it's economy is fucked up.

Imo, the difference between the amount of hackers(that hack accounts) in Runescape and Maplestory are very minor...they both have a lot of hackers(that hack accounts) though.

I think maplestory is more for casual gamers and runescape is more for serious gamers.. runescape is very good , and it is definetly easier in higher levels, and the tutorial is nice also. I dont see what you dislike about the maplestory tutorial. It taught me everything i need to know. Runescape definetly pwns when it comes to pvp. The closest thing to pvp in maplestory is seeing who can kill more monsters. Maplestory is more fun in lower levels, and runescape is more fun in higher levels.

Btw, Runescape has all of the things that you listed. Also, if you actually looked at the combat system for Runescape, IT DOES NOT TAKE TURNS. Runescape has the title of the best mmo out there for a reason, the graphics are now on par with WoW and game play is far better than ms. btw Nexon has been known to steal money from paypal accounts and ms has viruses as well, whereas runescape doesnt and never will. i use to play runescape, for several years i wasted time. less than a week ago i started to play wow and was finally able to see how much of current runescape is stolen from wow. They are both quality games, except runescape takes to long to level.. 1 skill cape = 1 80 in wow. Runescape use to be unique, but recently has just become a downgraded version of wow, jagex needs to change things for the better...

Maplestory is basically not a f2p game, nor is runescape. But runescape is MUCH cheaper. I am currently playing both trying to decide which one to play. I have spent 5$ on runescape and had a well funded lvl 56. on maplestory I have had about 4 lvl 40's because thats when i always get bored and want to make a new char, and I have spent 60-70 dollars on that crap. So now I have to force myself to quit buying nx because it is the only way I have any money on that game.

2) You have to make multiple accounts in oder to have another charcter. T_T For maple, you can make up to 4 charcter in about 12 worlds! (for gms) So thats about 48 different kinds of adventure!

Well, you know what, answer this: How long does it take to make 1 account on RuneScape? Not long at all. So that's about... let's see here.... infinite amounts of adventures. And, how many accounts do you even need? In maplestory you have no life if you get even close to level 200, in runescape you have no life if you get even close to level 138.
Anyways. I just noticed this:I play runescape for a while then switch to maplestory (private servers), and vice versa. they are both actually fun...

Dude... buy a real game like d2. I dunno...RS is kinda confusing.there's so much stuff.I like simple games that are somehow complex with a bunch of strategies and such,but still simple. Maplestory is actually smooth and fast, but RS IS 3d, but it is kinda slow at times. Also dude, it's completely obvious that you're a Runscape fan. And don't put down Maplestory players--if you have a point to make, make it without trying to cuss out the other side. It makes you look REALLY stupid.

RuneScape Has a lot of skills u can train and the quest in Runescape is WAY better than MS. Noob. The strongest monster in maplestory is not a golem lol. Your probably so nooby and didnt know about real maplestory. At lvl 30 you can kill those. The strongest monster is a giant dragon witht hree heads which is realy hard to kill till lvl 150 but still hard. Thats so awesome. runescape all you do is click the monster and leave.

pff runescape takes longer to when try to lvl up.
runescape quest pointless just to do dragon slayer. just 17 quests in runescape or ull need to pay .
runescape ? die ... loose every item u got ? expect of 3 woopie
maybe its only train if u have no life there are quests that help u fast lvl up.
runescape train yay lvl up. another skill train train train YAY LEVEL UP .
another skill train train train train train train train 5 hours later of training YAY LVL UP.

Facts? Lmao. No. The person who made this is probably addicted to Runescape and tried Maplestory for maybe a day at most. Theres WAY more to do in Maplestory. If you think Maplestory is hard, then go play dora the explorer.

nah in runescape you can play minigames,do quests,and level up like 27 skills,you can also do events,or chat with friends...
But its your opinion and i respect that...But the combat in runescape really sucks thats why i quit that game lol....And maplestory's combat is pretty kool :D..I just don't like leveling up =/

I thought maplestory was fun untill you reached like lvl 30ish becaus thats when you have to grind for hours and hours just to reach one level..MAplestory has better pve compared to runescape.But in runescape you can do more things rather than killing stuff..Like minigames or skilling or quests...But runescape got boring to me after like 10 months of playing...SO yeah....

I have to agree with 99% of what you said there. I play Maplestory atm, cause im too lazy to make a new char on runescape (yes, lazy). But you do have some wrong points about Maplestory. The Graphics are better in MS because its more detailed then RS (true) and some other stuff that you claimed. But otherwise, its true, most of what you said.
