But many religious people, gay and straight, have made huge efforts to influence the doctrines and practice of their denominations to promote respect for gay people, and they've made enormous progress. It baffles me that some gay people have no problem doing this so long as the victim is a religious figure. I'm sure plenty of gay people feel victimized by organized religion, but the moral response is not to sink to the same level, but to rise above it and treat people with respect.

The depiction of the Passion of Christ, which forms the basis for a 2,000 year-old-religion, is then turned into a sexual spectacle that people laugh at. Or did you not watch that part? The debate is over whether he was just a regular person, like any other, or was the Son of God, as Christians believe.
I'm not a practicing Catholic, nor do I practice any religion. But I don't have to believe in them to treat their tenets with respect and dignity.

But many religious people, gay and straight, have made huge efforts to influence the doctrines and practice of their denominations to promote respect for gay people, and they've made enormous progress. It seems like gay people who are not religious should try to meet them halfway, rather than engaging in childish theatrics like whipping S&M Jesus, no matter how psychologically purging that may be.

@dallasapollo i had to edit out several contestants because there is a 10 minute time limit on Youtube. Also of course there was some adult content that would have gotten me flagged.

@sfsilver Actually they removed that limit. You can have videos as long as you want now. I just uploaded a 17 minute long video last week :)

@Bigdrip681 I was uploading through iMovie and it must have that limit built into the software, It wouldn't let me upload it until I had edited it down. Another thing I can hate about Apple....
