  • Blatant nationaliasm - the 5.2 and 5.3s were what she deserved. But Kadavy did the same mistake on a harder combination and got marked lower so the judges - including the US and Eastern Eurpoean ones - clearly were playing favorites.

  • @aelred123 - 0,4 deduction.

  • That mistake was crucial. Liz Manley did a good job anyway.

  • Not an impressive skater? Liz certainly had some problems, but she was a very impressive skater. Watch her Calgary Olympic performance. Electricity in a pink dress. And another pink dress wonder at the Geneva Worlds. And she could do a killer triple lutz and a wonderful triple loop. How did Kati or Debi do on those? And if Canada didn't send Liz, who else? Charlene Wong? Tracey Wainman? Don't think they'd do anything better. I'd wager Liz's two silver medals on that.

  • The music is the theme from the movie 'Murder on the Orient Express'...How did Debi get the Bronze after this? She must have really stuffed up the LP...I really wish Debi had done another Olympics...she was certainly young enough...and Debi was not overrated, Katerina Clit was

  • What a joke ... ffartisan!! Like the Soviet, East German or US judge per example have never did anthing like that ... yeah right !!

  • How can you say that? Her Olympic Free Skate was fantastic! Had she been 1 place higher in figures, she would have been Olympic champion. Ok, at Budapest she was nowhere near her best but still should have won overall. Witt was lovely but posed her way through the free. Debi's free was a disaster and in my eyes should have been beaten by Leistner. If anyone should have been off the podium, it should have been Thomas.

  • I also disagree that she was "never an impressive skater." Her program (along with the phenomenal Ito) made the Calgary Olympics perhaps the most exciting in recent memory. It's ironic you mention Debi Thomas, as she was, imo, very overrated. Let's not forget that Liz Manley WON the long program at Calgary, so it's ludicrous to say she should never have been on the Olympic team.

  • Nerves!!!!!lol

  • This was such an unfortunate miss for Liz in the short because had she not made that error she would have won the Worlds that yr --- but I am always impressed with the confidence that Liz developed in '88 -- in earlier yrs a miss like that would have rattled her nerves so badly that she would lose all confidence for her sk8 in the LP -- but Liz came out of this miss with focused determination for her LP and attacked it brilliantly and proved to the nay sayers her silver in Calgary was no fluke

  • My thoughts exactly. Also the 5.3 for artistic was ridiculous!

  • shameful Canadian judge.
