  • That can't be the Village Gate. Most of these feature players (Mulligan, Bags, Max, John Lewis) played at a 60th birthday bash concert for Dizzy at Avery Fisher Hall in '76/'77. The open, wide-collared look is very '70s. It was an incredible concert. I think I remember Candido being there too, though I have no specific memory about Melba Liston. Just an idea. Everybody looks about the right age for that time frame. Does anybody (including the person who posted it) know more about this clip?

  • Dizzie Gillespie... sei un mito!

  • Te faltó: Gerry Mulligan, el maestro del saxofón barítono!!

  • Pepper Adams is also in the video, playing with the band. Look at 5:28

  • is that Paquito D'Rivera on the sax?

  • yep

  • I DONT THINK SO',MY SAX IS BLAK.

  • That's right. Furthermore, Dizzy Gillespie should also be added.

Thanks for posting this great recording.

  • Great, but that's Gerry Mulligan on bari, not Pepper Adams...

  • Pepper is seating with the section,Mulligan is playing the solo. Also,Melba Liston and (I think)Slide Hampton on trombones and (I think) Clifford Jordan on tenor and Mario Rivera on alto
