  • Thank you for posting this video! You have saved me so much time and effort.

  • I have ordered a Remstar Auto System one from USA. The hospital i attend had me rent one from one of the cpap companies here. I told them i was going to buy my own as the rental system was redicilous. It would cost me 1,400euro annually for the rental and i bought the machine, mask, and delivery for 565e.

When i turn on the existing rental ( which is a Remstar Auto A flex) it says 4, so i will assume that is the pressure setting. Can anyone advice me on how to set this on the new System one.

  • @townsin11 What was the pressure on your rental? I doubt it was 4, so yes you need to set it properly. Please go to cpaptalk.com for help and advice. There are many knowledgeable people there who can help you.

  • if anyone's new to CPAP & needs machine comparisons, check out The CPAP Shop's website for their ebook!

  • been a sleep tech for sev years, and never heard of it being illegal...lol but, it aint a good idea to change a prescribed pressure, as the slightest change can cause more harm.

  • @jeeprbj I doubt that, jeepbj. My sleep doctor has a standing order for the DME for his OSA patients that allows them to adjust the pressure plus or minus 2 points based on the patient's request/comfort. I don't think he'd do that if the slightest change was going to harm someone as you say. Also, it's hard to get a perfect pressure on just one night titration. If you can read the data card, you can follow how you're doing and adjust the pressure based on that.

  • @beyrus That's what I've done with great results, and good thing since my pressure needed to be higher than what they found in the titration study. I've been on my own adjusted pressure for 2 years now and it's working well for me. My AHI is below 1 pretty much every night. So where's the harm. It did me good to adjust my own pressure. There's no reason besides more profit for DMEs and sleep labs why people shouldn't be able to take charge of their health care like this.

  • I have used CPAP machines for years and didn't pay for any of them. I get all mine from the VA and they are completely free. So are the masks. I get a brand new mask every six months.

  • Can all the m series machines be set to auto pap?

  • @oriondave07 No.

  • FREEEEEEZEE, THIS IS THE CPAP POLICE!!

  • Oh my goodness people. I have a cpap and if it were bad to change the pressure you could not ramp up. Noone that needs a 7cm is going to set their machine to lets say a 15cm. It just dont make since. I bet everyone who is complaining about this post don't have cpaps. If you don't need a 15cm you sure wont set the machine that high. It is just to hard to sleep like that...

  • I want to thank you for this video. I had a sleep study and was found to have sleep apnea. The doc told me that my settings would be a 14. When the company called me to set up a time for them to show me the machine they told me the price would be $240 a month for 13 months. I was already paying the sleep center $150 a month I could not afford that. Just by chance I found a machine on ebay before it was removed and bid on it. Ebay pulled it and I contacted the seller. We agrred an a price $150!!

  • @MrBigbillyjoe Congratulations on getting what you need for a decent price. I'd highly recommend heading on over to the cpap talk site, there are a lot of people there who can help you and give you encouragement. Just ignore the occasional troll! The link to the site is in the description of the video.

  • I love it. Thank u. Thank u. For giving me this information. GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!

  • It is as illegal to change the pressure setting on a CPAP without a valid prescription as it is to posses Vicodin without a valid prescription. Please keep that in mind.

  • @zbot2008 OMG REALLY!? I GUESS YOU BETTER CALL THE CPAP POLICE!!!!!

  • Anyone in the medical profession hates it when you don't pay the piper to be healthy. Thank-God! we can buy our own machines and set our own pressures. I don't have insurance and this saved my life. I am not going to apologize for NOT giving away my money to the medical-industrial complex. CPAP therapy prescriptions are a SCAM. I don't need a prescription to tell me what pressure is comfortable and thereputic for my condition. To the pick-pockets that say I do, I say....kiss my A@@.

  • i need another mask. how do i get one

  • @MRVOCALZ .. I called Philips about buying new mask!! go to there website! Philips made the remstar plus M series.. they don't make them any more, but you can still buy supplys for them..

  • @MRVOCALZ You can call the place that provided your machine. You can also try cpap dott com or cpapauction dott com

  • I love the panicked comments about being able to fully operate a product you own.

  • @mrmeval1 ikr! I guess it's a miracle I'm not dead

  • @beyrus If you're on CPAP at least you're not a ZOMBIE.

  • @mrmeval1 Exactly. Those with the monopoly always feel threatened with their stranglehold on their fiefdom is attacked.

  • Why? I don't understand this video???? I am a RPSGT, CCEMT-P I have worked in the sleep field for seven years and in Paramedic medicine for over 24+ years. I am in the opinion that if you post information on a web site YOU SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE for ANY adverse consequent of a person following your directions. Like spontaneous pneumo thorax (too much air in lung that it POPS!) or any cardiac ectopy that is caused by increased CPAP/thoracic pressure!

  • @rangermedicman I have asked the community at cpaptalk to address your comment. The link to the discussion is in the description of this video.

  • @rangermedicman Rightttt. And that's why in the hospital, before any treatment, you sign about 100 waivers. Yes, and that's with real doctors, not pretend ones. Are you an M.D.? No? Then give it a rest, Jethro.

  • @rangermedicman YOUR EARS ARE GOING TO EXPLODE BEFORE REACHING A PRESSURE THAT CAN CAUSE YOU A PNEUMOTORAX, AND EVEN 22 WATER CENTIMETERS OF CONTINUOUS POSITIVE AIR PRESSURE SETTING IS NOT ENOUGH TO CAUSE A PNEUMOTORAX.

IM NOT A PARAMEDIC. IM A MEDICINE DOCTOR.

  • wow. I thought that patient was lying when he told me he watched a video on youtube on how to change his pressure. People, please don't fool with your machines like this. This is a medical device, not a toy.

  • Good thing I "fooled with" mine. I'd still be sick and tired all the time if I'd left it at what the sleep lab set it at. Thank goodness for the help I received online especially at cpaptalk. Now I have an optimal pressure for me and I feel much better.

  • well, at least tell me you check your AHI and leak to make sure you have achieved the optimal pressure.

  • I have a card reader and Encore Pro software, so yes I can check my AHI and leak everyday if I want. At this point I only check it periodically or if I feel excessively tired.

  • Also that information is available in the menus, although from there it is an average over 7 or 30 days. Not as detailed as whats on the smart card, but better than nothing.

  • @fanuvgod1 If my levels start at 11 but my average is 14.5, then why not just set it to 14 and start from there? Besides, the company that I got my unit from told me that if I neended to increase my pressures to just go to my DR. and have him write a prescription for it and they would change it for me. Why would I want to pay for that? Why should my insurance? I don't think it should be set above your average but why not start closer to it?

  • @fanuvgod1 It's our lives kiddo, not yours....
