  • good works i love it

  • This is such a brilliant song and love the duet with Ryan Adams -- who is incredibly talented!

  • This... Is a pretty fucking good cover/combo.

  • Elton is a legend what does is matter if he is gay ,straight, black ,white,green,yellow,..who cares ..this is a beautiful version of a great song ,by two really talented people.....just shut up and go and read the Daily Rag if ya wanna gossip and bitch

...some people visit this site to listen to and view great music and performances

eff off and talk to the girls on facebook about who is Gay ,,ect

  • I am in heave

  • ryan's such a lad.

  • Love it my favorite version of this classic tune , good on ya lads!!!!!!

  • 2 people arent gay

  • @mattsp88 B.S. two people just have crap taste in music. I'm straight and voted up and I love Elton John. He's one hell of a song writer. Him being gay don't matter a lick to me. His music is legend.

  • elton is so nice to the men , just dont have a vagina near him he gets really mean - just watch any video with a chick. Used to be my favorite Man- but lost ALL respect when i saw video of him cussing at at TMZ lady, sure i know TMZ can be bad but watch video- she didnt deserve it.shame on you!!! be nicer!! you have bouncers, she was just there!RESPECT!!!

  • @calagal2 get in the kitchen and make me a samich, bitch!

  • this makes me cry. i love elton and ryan ....... sooooooo goooodddd!!!

  • Hold me closer Tony Danza.....

  • @Tokenherbz tony danza on the brain!!!!

  • So good! hits me in the gut, shivers and prickles when they hit the notes for the chorus.

  • Ryan is a gifted singer/songwriter. I'm glad he sobered up before he did any serious damage. I love this and their Answering Bell duet.

I don't know how Ryan took being told by EJ that his Heartbreaker Album changed his life. How in the hell do you respond to that or even take it in, knowing the life that EJ's had? I would say that's a pretty powerful endorsement of Ryan's musical skills.

  • I'm totally straight, but I hope they banged, and I would sooo watch.

  • Elton's new album The Union, with Leon Russell is a classic, 5 stars in Rolling Stone

  • @mizofan I will listen, but not b/c of Rolling Stone's 5 stars. They are terrible with reviewing anything they get their hands on.

  • Oy... speaking of Elton John's piano playing abilities, mate... ya know, he's a musical genius. His piano playing is at a level very few can play. he ad libs a great portion of it. This is pure talent, not skill. Ask any ranked pianist and ask them about John's playing. They'll tell you he's incredible. So, setting the tempo... mate, he knows what he's doin'.

  • @MrBlackBrit Sir Elton is a piano virtuoso that very few can even come close to matching. I've read some very good articles from piano teachers and critics who mostly think his piano talents are rare. He also has an incredible voice which has made him one of the biggest selling artists of all time. 250+ million and counting. Actually, I'm surprised he hasn't sold more but that's still an incredible number. And I love how much he loves his British roots. I wish him and David all the best.

  • The last choruses with them both singing are magical.

  • Brilliant...

  • I think Elton just wanted piece of Ryan's sweet ass.

  • @MrBooty2000 Love the homophobia. Awesome. Truly displays what a great appreciator of musical talents you are. Imbecile.

  • @GavinLiamLogan

    How is his comment homophobia?

I've read very similar comments about hetero-duos; everyone needs ass sometimes!

  • I remember seeing this when it first aired on tv, it was wonderful. Still sounds just as good. Thanks so much for sharing it.

  • why is it when ever RA covers a song its better than the original. it might be his voice or just the badass band behind him. love the futher muking CARDINALS.

  • ¡WOW! ¡What a magic moment!

  • Hey Elton remember 33 years ago when Marina S sent you a poem called BLUE JEAN BABY HER TITLE ON CB AND SHE HAD THE WORDS DANCING IN THE SAND; THANKS FOR NOT ACKNOWLEDGING HER AND PAYING ZIPP ALL. She was 17 and sent you this poem Imagine someone with a crush on you and you steal

    her song.

  • @Jointheir777, Tiny Dancer is 39 years old song, so it seems that Marina S. stole lyrics from Bernie! :p

  • @007koko007 Correction 39 years ago. She sent the peom to Bernie Taupin. And what the hell do you know; anyways

  • @Jointheir777, you're hallucinating!

  • @007koko007 She had a crush on him and sent him the poem with much of the same words in the song. Her Mom is awitness she sent it to his Fan mail.

  • @Jointheir777 That you mentioned are 6 words that are far from the whole song.

  • I love hearing these two perform together! Does video of this CMT Crossroads exist anywhere? DVD? Online? I've looked everywhere but no luck.

  • ryan is a singer songWriter, elton didn't write most of his popular hits.

but I enjoy both of them, just letting ppl know this fact who may not have known already...

  • @daust126 Elton wrote ALL of the songs... Bernie wrote the words, Elton wrote the music.

  • The organ really makes this special towards the end.

  • Ryan's incredible. and so is Elton. and this song is marvelous.

  • This song always reminds me of the fact that Elton John has made some really great songs before Nikita. Besides Tiny Dancer, for example Goodbye yellow brick Road. Ryan Adams is great. Too bad this is not a real video of the live performance, instead of a collage of fotos.

  • elton didnt write tiny dancer

  • @MrDantheguitarman He wrote the music for it. Bernie writes the words....this is an established fact for 43 years now.

  • For some reason, they don't allow the real video of this performance here. Gets removed instantly. Somehow this has been allowed...

  • @jainonen. It would be nice to see the full video, it sounds beautiful. The video of them singing Answering Bell is awesome.

  • @CF1975 , Daniel, Crocodile rock, get Elton's first greatest hits album. Ryan Adams is probably one of the greatest song writers alive today. Elton does a great cover of sweet carolina. Check it out.

    Cheets

  • @CF1975 , Daniel, Crocodile rock, get Elton's first greatest hits album. Ryan Adams is probably one of the greatest song writers alive today. Elton does a great cover of sweet carolina. Check it out.

    Cheers

  • Not wanting to intrude on people's arguments.... But hot damn, this is such a beautiful rendition of a beatufiul song!

  • nilesmoney, this is all about personal opinion, so robbiebest can't be wrong. To me, your comments are very narrow minded, the comments of someone who perhaps listens to only Bob Dylan and no one else. You've built up Dylan to be this demigod that no other artist can rival. And that's ok. I am extremely narrow minded too. In my opinion no one can rival Ryan Adams.

  • i really like elton johns older stuff, but i am a huge adams fan. his voice is just out of this world and his songwriting is just too good. best singer songwriter of his generation in my opinion. he is up there with neil young and bob dylan. forza adams!

  • Ryab Adams is occasionally inspiring, and has some good tunes, but Bob Dylan? Really? Wrong. Go get some mid 70's Dylan albums to fill in the gaps in the Dylan tunes you know from FM radio. I know I sound harsh, but really this just seems uninformed to me.

  • Im just gonna say that even though Bob Dylan is a good lyricist, he is an awful singer and entertainer. nothing compared to elton john or ryan adams.

  • You clearly don't own Blood on the Tracks..

  • i couldnt have said it any better

  • Bob Dylan was one of the most charismatic entertainers of his time. He would often improvise and tell an impromptu joke or two and get his entire audience cracking up. he might not have been an Elvis Presley, or a Michael Jackson, but to say he was an awful entertainer is just ridiculously stupid. Ryan Adams on the other hand has a better voice by far, but is a terribly boring performer, the guy cant even look up at his audience for 90% of his shows

  • @cultrox

Clearly you have never experienced "Ryan Adams Stand-up Comedy". By far one of the best entertainers out there who happens to have built one of the finest catalogs of this generation. And in no way is this a indictment on your factual analysis of what Dylan used to do. Hell he still has charm performing live. But you simply do not know Ryan Adams (& The Cardinals) live.

  • Bob's great, Elvis is great, Michael's great.

But so is Ryan, and i can say from experience that his concerts are awesome. and he might not dance around, but it's great to listen to him talk and joke around

  • ryan adams is not a clown man, he dont make circus xD

listen him at BBC4 sessions xD

  • I know what you mean, but I must disagree. This year I really got into Ryan's music and one day I found myself to be very bored and I read some of his wikipedia page. Apparently he has a bad case of stage fright that he never really got over. Hes had a lot of rough patches with drugs and lived a rough life. He had no father (don't know why) and he dropped out of school as a sophomore. One time they played Let it Ride on Conan and he didn't look up at all.

  • But, I've seen him live before and heard some of his other shows, and he is very personal with the audience. He always tells jokes and was pretty hilarious when I saw him in 2009. So hey, his music is great, he might have had some problems, whatever. I just want him to start preforming again lol.

  • I see what you're saying. I agree that Ryan Adams is a very good lyricist and singer. I guess I should see him perform live a time or two before I draw any conclusions.

  • Hey, in my opinion, Ryan Adams is one of the best musicians around. I love his music, I grew up with it, so I guess that's understandable.

Not everyone has to agree, opinion is a personal thing after all! :)

  • I guess since Elton is setting the tempo on piano he knows how fast it should be played. Ya think?

  • Oh, and the fact that I am not that into Ryan Adams doesn't make me ignorant or uninformed. "Oh, if you only really listened to him, you'd really see why he's the greatest," is actually pretty narrow minded, don't you think? I have heard him, I just don't like his music that much. Again, he's OK -- just not "great." And I do like Elton John's music, but I don't need anyone, including Elton, to tell me who I should be listening to. Is that how you choose who you listen to?

  • Very respectful of Elton to appreciate and give credit to this very talented artist - always thought elton's ego got before anything but perhaps not.

  • Elton John also lists Ryan as one of his favorite musicians....so if you are so high on Elton perhaps you should trust his taste in music and give Ryan a chance. Go buy Gold or Heartbreaker and come back to us with an informed opinion as opposed to a mindless critique of music that you have obviously never given a chance! In the future you would be wise to stay away from posting on videos for fans since you are not one yourself. It only makes you seem bitter and vindictive!

  • Dude, with radio dead and labels dying, you are going to have to depend on different barometer for assessing talent toher than "No one knows him"! Ignorant if you ask me. Elton is great and Ryan is getting there!

  • I'll stick with my original comment. I have heard Ryan Adams. And he's OK, but pretty far from the greatest singer/songwriter of the past decade.

I like a few odd bands/artists, too, and I think they're the greatest of all time. But no one else does -- I just accept that.

And you don't need the radio or labels to sell music these days - this medium works very well. But STILL no one really knows Ryan Adams because not enough people are excited about his music to turn their friends on to him.

  • if you're going to mesaure someones quality by his popularity... then britney spears, mariah carey and company are the greatest artists in the world.... quality and quantity do not have to go together. I really like Ryan's lyrics, much more than Elton's, but i recognize that Elton is unique and a genie, such as Ryan, maybe not yet, not now... time will say. (Bruce Springsteen needed 10 years and 3 or 4 albums to be... The Boss...)

  • I am not measuring anything based on popularity. I simply said that I don't care for his music. Again, he is OK, but I just don't think he "the greatest of all time." If you like his lyrics, that is entirely your choice. You shouldn't be offended that I don't. The comment about his popularity was just an observation that people just don't seem to be that excited about his stuff. That's all.

  • So, if people are excited about the music, they're good, aren0t they? ergo Britney Spears, Backstreet boys are the best of all time. People are really really excited about them... People don't care about his music, so what? His quality is there, people like American Idol, Big Brother etc, etc Quality? 0.0000.

Van Gogh sold one only Picture to his OWN brother in all his life, people didn't care about him, BUT he is a genious. Again, popularity sais nothing.

  • You just don't get it, do you. I couldn't care less how popular he is. It was an OBSERVATION. But to your point, I could just as easily say that Joey GoBlowie is the GREATEST of our generation! WOW - the GREATEST!! Me saying so doesn't make it so, does it? How about Me and a few of my friends? No. How about 100 of us? My comment is just my opinion. I don't care for this twit. You love him -- that's good for you. It's your opinion. But the "greatest of our generation"?? What a joke!

  • i never said he was the best. i just don't think he is just ok or an average musician just because he is not popular, i don't care if you don't like him, but give some good reason to say his average, not that he's not popular...

  • @zatoichi101. My friends know him and their friends are learning as well. You are right, we all have our favorites but to me Ryan is a prodigious son of a gun with a great talent for writing, mood, style and lyrics. He could be an American Elvis Costello one day...not that they have parallel careers, but that they are not linited by style or content!

  • Ryan Adams? any1 care 2 fill me in?

  • u are actually kidding me right?? Ryan Adams!! probably the greatest singer/songwriters of the past decade

  • sorry haven't heard of him but thanx for the info.

  • Please go out this moment and buy Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams. You will thank me. It changed my perception of music today. Normally, I am a Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, and Stones, BUT this guy is where it is at, for today's music. Trust me on this one- even though you don't know me, lol

  • Thanx for the advice :-)

  • Please write me when you get it. I am interested in whether you dug it, or not, lol :)

  • Nothing like a yamaha grand

  • omg the one of dem singin it in almost famous is BRILLIANT

  • Good cover, not as good as everyone singing it in Almost Famous though lol

  • simply amazing.

  • Ryan's voice is magic.

  • ryan is sooooooooooooooooo cute i wish i could have married him<3<3<3huuu<3

    <3i love him

  • very nice

  • Wow, tremendous cover. I did notice he wisely backed off going for the higher falsetto note on the "hold me close..." lines.

  • There are a few RA bootlegs I have, where he 'goes for it' on some of his own stuff... the WHOLE reason that record labels don't like bootlegs!!!

but in this one, he's thought about it a bit!!!

  • Even Elton doesn't attempt those anymore. Since he lost his voice in the late 70's.

  • I like Elton Johns music but he's .. not very polite.

  • How was he not polite?

  • lol everyone nos hes not polite lol he has anger issues like naomi cambell

  • There's a difference between being an angry person and being polite.

  • well when he angry hes in polite towards other ppl dah im not picking a argument its just something he does he starts swearing and loses his temper with ppl its been in the new bare times

  • What a load of bollocks! People don't half type some shit on Youtube.

  • Half type some shit...?

  • I'm guessing buckhysen is English because that's something I say. If you break it down as ''People don't half - type some shit'' it makes sense.

  • Haha, now I see. Thanks.

  • Elton, Billy Joel, Zep, F-Mack...all of them ruled the 70s. Just imagine if the beatles, doors, Hendrix lived on throughout that decade....

Great cover by RA too. Voice was built to cover this.

  • i find myself imagining what would this life be like if Jimi was still alive and then i think imi never got to hear bob marley or eddie van halen

  • @Zendrix3 the beatles did!

  • @poffy8888 beatles were active from 1960–1970. I'm saying as a group after 'Let it Be'. I know we had Wings, and Lennon's solo stuff, but it would have been interesting to see what they could have continued to do as a group.

  • @Zendrix3 DONT FORGET THAT LED ZEPP. EVOLVED FROM THE YARDBIRDS AS THE NEW YARDBIRDS. THAT INDIRECTLY MAKES THEM A SIXTIES GROUP. AND DIDNT F.M. BEGIN IN THE 60'S?

  • this was the best cmt crossroads show ever.
