The issue is that when considering Health Care reform every option must be evaluated and compared in order to ensure that the best program is chosen. Here that is not the case, Single Payer is not even considered. Thus, it will be inconclusive as to whether this Health Care reform will truly obtain the most beneficial program. If Single Payer isn't good for Americans put it on the table and prove it.

He also said that the Bush Administration needed to be brought to task for their crimes, that our bloated military needed adjusted to deal with problems in our nation rather then abroad, and fought for campaign finance reform.
Whether or not you support a single-payer system, or whether it is feasible, to allow only representatives from the insurance industry, HMOs and pharmaceutical companies is not appropriate representation for millions of Americans. How can a solution be reached when only one side of the debate is represented? Requests for representation were consistent, and consistently denied. Where is the democracy in that?

I didn't comment on the cost, I spoke about the government take over of healthcare industry. How much you think it will cost us to be taxed for 4-5 years for government insurance only for it to come into effect at the end of that term. @detest4321 sounds like you are talking about costs. One possibility for Single Payer is that medicare would simply be expanded to encompass everyone. You would pay more in taxes, but you would no longer pay for private insurance. The difference in cost would be in your favor. Read my 1st post again as to how health care costs would be cut. This is different from the public option, which I'm not convinced will cut costs.

See The 10th Amendment for clarity. If you wanna debate doing this on a per state basis, then there is a debate. Otherwise there is no power given to our federal legislators to even talk about this, much less vote on it. That isn't my only reason to oppose such a thing, but it is the only one needed.

The issue here is not whether Single Payer will be the most beneficial system or not. The issue is that when considering Health Care reform every option must be evaluated and compared in order to ensure that the best program is chosen. Here that is not the case, Single Payer is not even considered. Thus, it will be inconclusive as to whether this Health Care reform will truly obtain the most beneficial program. If Single Payer isn't good for Americans put it on the table and prove it.

the american government is out of order. the only reason to NOT implement single payer is to keep funnelling profits to health insurance companies instead of using those funds to pay for health care so everyone gets care. these corrupt politicians are on the take from the criminal "health insurance " industry. screw them all. those companies should be shut down and not a penny of tax funds or any other monies should go to them.

and not one representative for Single Payer healthcare which is supported by most Americans including most Doctors and nurses. The profit incentive must be removed from healthcare. Police, Firemen, Schools, Libraries are provided by government and Health should be at the top of that list! 20,000 people die each year in the U.S. each year who lack health care coverage.

I'd say the only ones trying to "prevent discussion" here are the people that decided that a discussion on this country's health care would not include a single voice for single-payer health care--something the majority of Americans support--and the people who decided voicing any opinion against the interests of insurance companies, or believing that people's lives should not be a business, is a crime.
It's time we let our government know that we are a democracy, not a corporate oligarchy.

Nader publicly stated he was for a single payer health care system during his 2008 run. He also said that the Bush Administration needed to be brought to task for their crimes, that our bloated military needed adjusted to deal with problems in our nation rather then abroad, and fought for campaign finance reform.

Whether or not you support a single-payer system, or whether it is feasible, to allow only representatives from the insurance industry, HMOs and pharmaceutical companies is not appropriate representation for millions of Americans. How can a solution be reached when only one side of the debate is represented? Requests for representation were consistent, and consistently denied. Where is the democracy in that?
