  • How do I know when I should replace the nibs?

  • rolf thanks so much i have had this intous for 6 months and i never u can take that out and use it to pull out the nib i always used my teeth to pull the nib out from the pen

  • Had found the new nibs, but had no idea about the extra ring gizmo. Accidentally wore my first nib down when going on a digital spree, so this came in very handy. Thanks =]

  • what you do if your nib has too much wear on it to where you cant get it out?

  • Great, Thanks! Ignored that little Thing compketly^^

  • Thanks man..that was a great help :)

  • Merci, I didn't know Intuos 4 comes with many nibs inside the base^^

  • thank you :)

  • Thank you so much!!!!

  • I wouldn't have noticed that little indent in the pen stand to lay the pen down if you hadn't mentioned it in the video...I am be good with the figure things out.

  • OMFG!

    Thank you!

ROFLMAO! I've had my intuos 4 for sometime now and had no idea that the small penholder had a secret compartment!

This helped a lot. Thanks :D

  • The nib on mine is so damaged I can't grip it with the clamp. :/

  • Thank you!

  • Well, that was easy. Thanks for the help c:

  • How do you know when your nib is to warn down to not damage your tablet?

  • ooh thanks :3

  • THANK YOU!

  • thank you! I was trying to figure out how to do this!

  • Thanks for showing how it is done. I was just sitting here, scratching my head, trying to figure out how to pull the nib out in order to replace it :) Just got myself the Intuos A4 Wireless, and it works wonderfully well so far (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit). Thanks again, appreciate it.

  • Thank you for your video!!! I was wondering how to do it and i didn't see the nib extractor!!! :D (i just got my wacom today) but anyways THANK YOU!!! :D

  • this helped me a lot, thnx, i was having trouble trying to find out how to switch it :P

  • I would love to do that but I don't know how :( Being a web designer I don't use it nearly as much as graphic designers do and so I've never had a reason to do that. I did see on the Wacom site that the covers come with instructions so maybe? Of course, they didn't do a fantastic job of making sure people knew where the nibs where either did they? LOL

  • Can you please make a video of how to remove the surface of the intuos 4 (small one if possible). Cause I have the feeling Im gonna break it instead of remove it.

  • @crdf I manage to do it, anyway. But I think it will be useful video because the surface looks not removable and it is kind of scary removing it from the tablet! ;)

    cheers

  • such a simple thing.. i guess i could have looked it up in the user manual. but youtube was much easier!

  • thanks, lady! i can't believe how so many of us have had to look this up on youtube. Boo, Wacom!

  • I've had to get replacement nibs before, and everytime they said "it comes with a nib extrctor" I had no idea what the nib extractor was. I tried getting the metal thing out of it, but i don't have the nails to do it. this was so helpful

  • thank you! very helpful!

  • there really are people like you out there, without u we would perish =)

  • thank you so much!!! i never knew i could do this!!!!

  • thanking you for helping me, god bless

  • OMG thank you!

  • The penholder had a secret stash!? Awesome, but still my pen nib is to small, the ring doesn;t even work!!!

  • this is such a useful video-- you're great to put it up--thank you !!

  • Woah! Thank youu! I just got my brand spank'n new intous4 and was wondering how to do this :D You made my day!

  • the gray tips i love

  • I know I could have looked it up in the manual. But that meant putting the disk back in. and besides I'm not at the computer right now anyhow. So this tutorial was really helpful. Thank you for doing it.

  • OH, THATS WHAT IT IS! Lol I never knew that xD I also just bit the tip of the nib but that didn't really work ]:|.. Thank you SO much :D

  • Lol. That was exactly what I needed. You are amazing. Thank you so much. I felt like I was just stupid for not knowing, but seeing the comments, I guess I'm not the only one.

  • Ahhhh I'd been going at my pen nib with tweezers for about 10 minutes before I decided to google it. Got it out in like, a millisecond. THANK YOU. <3

  • Ahhhhhhhhh... so I was supposed to keep that!

  • Wouldn't using the nip extractor damage the tip of the pen as you are strongly squishing it? Nice video btw

  • Thank you for the help xD. Gosh I never even stopped to think on how to do this so I had to search it. I'm so clueless lol.

  • ; u ; I have a Genius, and its kind of the same thing. Thank you!!

  • Brilliant - thank you. Nib extractor for the win!

  • Hahaha! Never knew about the nib extractor! Thanks! This helped me lots! ^__^

  • Thx for that video. you help me to keep drawing :)

a big kiss for Paris in France !

Merci pour cette vidéo, tu m'as aidé pour continuer à dessiner :)

un gros bisou de Paris en France !

  • and i thought i have to buy a nib extractor

  • AWw guys!! I understand not realizing how to make the change cuz it's not in the quick guide, but not knowing your kit comes with a bunch of spares?! READING IS FREE!

Thanks for the video, perfect length and so useful.

  • Oh, thank you for the clip. I was already starting to unscrew things on the pen when I decided I'd do a quick Google search and found this ;P

  • Thanks! Very useful and concise!

  • I already thought it was like this, but I didn't want to damage my pen, thx :)

  • You guys and your comments always make me feel so good... seriously more than once I've been having a bad day and gotten a response that made me feel so much better :) I'm sorry you scratched up your wacom though :(

  • @marydesigns I hear so many bad things about the nibs that I am scared to spend money on the wacom pad..

  • I wish I found this video sooner before I scratched out my beautiful wacom. it looks all used and abused because I worn out my first nib. ;_______;

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! now I know where to find spare nibs and how to change them! I did not know my holder was a secret holder like a spy's secret place for his guns.

  • thanks so much for making this video! never had a wacom tablet so never how to change them :)

  • Lol i tried using my fingers and failed hard! I thought the ring was a part that fell off of something lol thanks for the tip ...no pun intended!

  • Thanks, I just purchased a Wacom and was wondering how to change the nibs, I did not know that ring was there and now I know. This was not explained in the pamphlet. Now to figuere out what the extra colored washers are for. Thanks Jamie

  • ... i feel really dumb for not knowing how to do that... >.< i diddnt know that metal thing came out! xD

  • thank you

  • GOD IT WAS REALLY EASY! THANKS :D

  • Thanks for this! I had no idea that there was a ring thing in the actual case. My fingers were shaking as I tried though....

  • OMG... I'm such a derp!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! This helped A LOT!!!

  • Thanks so much!

  • Thank you so much!

  • tank you u saved my life i thnk u get this alot but i love u

  • teresahan1991...it's probably a safe bet that I'm saying it WRONG LOL...I always do...I think it's probably suppose to be "wah-come" ... I say Lancome wrong also LOL

  • is it "way-com" or "wah-com"? I've heard it said both ways, idk which one is right lol

  • i was trembling while pulling the tip because my wacom is new lol. thanks very much :D

  • MY SAVIOR

  • Thanks for the vid, I'm just wondering, how do I know when its time to change the nib ? thanks :D

  • Thank you so freaking much!

  • I was wondering how you changed it, i spend like an hour looking at it trying to figure out how it worked XD

  • why would people dislike this video its help? i dont understand some humans.

  • I'm kinda glad I stumbled on this. At elast now I know that tablet stand was meant for something. At the same time, I'm kinda raging at myself because I bought a pack of 10 nibs from the wacom site.

    FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU--

  • lol..thank you!

  • LOL wow I had no Idea it even did this!!

  • Cheers for the how to :D i've had that holder on my desk for about a year and never knew it opened up.

  • Sweet... I was like how the hell do I change the tips on my pen... very good vid...

  • So that's what that ring looking thing is....thought it was something more fancy..LOL thanks alot helped me alot!

  • SWEET!

  • omg thank you!!! i've been using my fingers to take the nib out!!!

  • OMG THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Jesus i had no idea how to replace it, and then spent lyk 3 hours digging up my apartment to find them nibs before i saw your tutorial and realised they were on my desk all that time...

  • I'm going to be honest.. I had no idea those nibs were even in there until my cat knocked it down and broke it open yesterday. *SHAME* lol

  • reach in there and grab it? What if you have big, fat fingers :(

  • @iamlemony can you take out 2 or 3 nibs and then grab it?

  • @marydesigns Yeah :) curse these chubby digits though!

  • @iamlemony I had the same problem... i just removed all of the nibs then do it :D

  • @iamlemony There should've been a small monkey included in the package with your tablet. When you have located your Wacom monkey, ask him the shortest way to The Bahamas by unicycle, this should function as a password and the monkey will then proceed to remove the nib extractor for you.

  • Wow. thanks. I didn't even realize you could lay your pen in the pen holder like that. You gave bonus information. Thanks

  • hey, thanks for your vid... I knew about the nibs but wasn't sure how to pull them out, thought the piece in the middle was just there :p

  • Thanks for that! I also like what you called the video, it popped right up in google search, when I needed it. Well done!

  • Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what if the nib is really short???

  • I had no fucking idea my stand had spare nibs!!! I just bought a new pen and stand for no reason!!!!! You're amazing <3<3<3 Thank you for the video!

  • I love you so much right now! I've had my tablet for a year now and had NO CLUE how to get my old almost broken nib out. Thank you so much!

  • oh my gosh thank you so much, i was trying to figure out how to replace the nib and now i know how thanks yo you :)

  • Wow! I feel so empowered ;-) Thanks so much.

  • woooow thank you so much!!

  • Thanks for making this video! You're a lifesaver! I just got my first Wacom and I had no idea on how to do this! The Quick Start Guide had a quick diagram of the nib holder base, but it referred to a User Guide for further instructions, which didn't seem to be included with my package. Thanks again! :)

  • THANK YOU!

  • Ooooh man I can't believe I wasn't able to figure that one out on my own. x.x Thanks for this video!

  • Thank you so much. I just bought one and was worried I was going to strip my nib before figuring this out. I was being too gentle with it! If you add just enough pressure it gives.

  • Oh, I get it! Thanks! XD

  • This was SO very helpfull! I only wish I'd known this sooner! My poor tablet has a few marks on it from my worn-down nib on my pen. Thankfully I now know how to change the tips, so this won't happen again! THANKS AGAIN!

  • THANKS

  • Thank you so much. I've had multiple wacom tablets, and this is the first time I can actually switch the nib on one (:

  • Thank you so much, this was very helpful!

  • Thank you thank you thank you thank you

  • How long does the nib usually last?

  • @natashahohoho

Depends on how often you use your wacom and how much pressure you give it. If you use it hard every day then each nib will probably only last a few weeks..

  • @kailemagnus I've been using mine everyday for over a month now and I'm still using the same nib. I just rotate the nib every once in a while and dull the sharp tip with a nail filer so it doesn't scratch the tablet (:

  • Thank you!

  • thanks a lot! i know i sound stupid but i didnt know where the extractor was! :P

  • I FREAKING LOVE YOU! I spent a week twisting and trying to get the bloody nib off and change it. You. are. a. life. savior!

  • thanks a lot for this.

I have to admit im a bit dissapointed with intuos 4. The nibs wear out way too fast and the surface is SO easily scratched! If I wanted a paper like surface, well, id be using paper, kthnx wacom.

  • @TheFireLioness I think I'm very fortunate to be a web designer/developer and only use this once in a while. It's invaluable to me when I do but you are not the first person I've heard this from and I'm happy that I don't need to use it all the time :/

  • Thanks! Exactly what i need.

  • Thank you so much! I had no idea there were extra nibs in the holder. :D Thank you!!!

  • Thanks! I also didn't realize what a nice stand the indented top makes for holding the pen on its side.

  • @sonyaseattle I agree with you :)

  • I can't believe it took me almost 5 months to figure this out. almost bought me a new pen, but thank goodness I didn't. All thanks to your video.

  • @MechaBuu that makes me feel so good :)

  • Thank you very much ! That helped me a lot as many people right here ! :)

  • I FUCKING LOVE YOU

  • @mariafox888 I'm so happy it helped you :)

  • Wow. I didn't ever know you had a nib extractor and I even read the entire manual! Thank you very much!

  • Thanks for this video. Just got my Wacom Intuos 4 today and I was perplexed by the fact that there was no instructions on how to remove and replace nibs. Didn't want to force it since good tech always seems to be delicate

  • Thanks for posting this... i have been using the original nib since i bought mine about 2 months ago... it is easier than i thought!

  • @jkell42 I'd like to get the Intuos 4 too, but there are a lot of discussions going on about nib wear due to the paper-like surface. Have you experienced that the tip of your nib is already getting shaved off, or is it still fine?

  • @Shydrasnake The nib was not worn down too much. The paper like surface is very nice to have. I bought my Intuos 4 on craigslist for $300 and it has been a great investment. I used to do all my designs with the mouse, but it is great to draw into the computer. I wouldn't worry about nibs getting dull. you control the brush size inside the software, it is not like using an actual pencil where you accuracy or line weight changes because of the pencil tip.

  • @jkell42 Alright, thanks! :)

  • LOL for the longest time i couldn't figure out how to change it! it wasn't on the packaging so thank you so much!! :D

  • My gosh, I had no idea my pen holder had nibs in it...lol, I'm retarded

  • thank u very2x much!!!!!!

  • Thanks!

  • Great. i couldn't find the extra nibs. Thanks for the video!

  • any else killing their nibs super fast on the i4? 3month and my first nib is almost dead

  • @lujia it makes really glad I'm a web designer and don't use it as much as a graphic designer would because you are not the first person I've heard that from :/

  • Thx mary!! You saved my sanity :) I had no idea that metal ring comes out hehe. Looking forward to more great vids from u. Well done!

  • @beugnen You are so very welcome :)

  • Thank you so much!!!! Now I know where the nibs are and how to change them!

  • @Rawhloves2jump I'm so happy it was helpful :)

  • but... and to make the nib go more foward so u waste the whole nip instead of only the tip not needing to refil that fast??? cuz i dont know how to fix mine! O_O

  • Thank you very much. It's strange but I couldn't found any instruction or how to related to this inside the original package...

It has been very useful for me.

    Thank you very much.

  • @jorari71 :) You are very welcome :)

  • @jorari71 : Thanks a ton

  • @jorari71 same with me. I'm glad I wasn't alone!

  • I say Way Come too, that just sounds right to me.

    not WAH CUM

  • @SoakTheSins LOL I've always said Lancome wrong as well LOL

  • @marydesigns I did too until I actually heard them say it in a commercial one time LOL. I've never had to say it when I went to the Lancome counter and the conversation has never come up with anybody for me to know I was saying it wrong LOL

  • @SoakTheSins I'm glad to hear somebody else does that too LOL...I've never heard anybody say it before so for some reason I just thought that was how it was pronounced :)

  • Thanks a ton for this--I was too lazy to figure it out any other way so, you're the jam for showing me :) xx

  • @Beej4230 You are very welcome :)

  • i was going mad not knowing how to change nibs on my new pen, that came with my new tablet. it didn't say ANYWHERE how to do it, only "this is the nib extractor" with a picture of the whole pen base, instead of just the ring. but then i found your video, and was finally able to do it! thanks a lot :)

  • @SchmidtP89 glad it helped :)

  • Magic...

  • Many thanks from germany too... I wondered how to do it... and did not do it until now, just to do no mistake.

  • what do i do if the nib is already too short for the nib extractor to extract it? OwO neeeed help

  • @AvatarTTfan I'm sorry I have no idea but that makes me want to be extra careful to watch for it to start getting really short!

  • woooooooow!!!! you're my saving angel ^^

  • Thanks for posting this! I read the manual but I was a bit confused, so this video helped. I see you prefer using the white nib.

  • Thanks so much for posting this! :)

  • Thanks for that. It's so simple, but I would never have thought of it.I've been trying to unscrew MOULDED PLASTIC!! Durrrr.lol

  • Hey, I'm just wondering if you know what that ring above the barrel and below the grip is supposed to do, I'm using the red one but I don't really see why Wacom gave me 3 other ones of various colours.

Does it actually change the way my pen works, or is it purely for aesthetic reasons?

    Thanks :)

  • @CrdBrdProjects I'm not sure...I didn't see that it actually DID anything, I think it's just for looks...though I wouldn't swear to it.

  • @marydesigns I see, thanks for the help :)

  • It's for users who have more than one pen to be able to tell them apart. Each pen has it's own ID so the tablet knows which is which electronically. You can configure different settings for different pens and the tablet will apply these when it detects each on its surface. Wacom tablets are very neat.

  • @CrdBrdProjects : I believe it is for offices or households like mine where we have many pens so that you can distinguish one from another. I use the red ring on my pen and my fiance uses the black one on his. Makes it easier to co-habitate :)

  • Comment removed

  • @JessiBean1983 ooooohhhhh, that does make sense... I'm using the red one too, but just because I like the colour :P

  • @CrdBrdProjects i think they r to identify your pens when u have 2 or more.

  • @weletpck their sole purpose is to stylize your pens.

  • @CrdBrdProjects its to easily identify your pens in case you get more than one. each pen is recognizes indepently, if you have two you can make one your pen tool and another one your marker tool. that way instead of switching tools you can just grab a different pen and not worry about switching tools. in the program.

  • @tman152 wooah, i had no idea grip pens were recognized individually, thanks for the info :)

  • @CrdBrdProjects it's so you can more easily differentiate if you buy multiple pens. Like.. the one with the red is your airbrush, the one with the white has the felt nib and marker settings, etc....

i put the red one on, too, just because it's cooler looking.

  • @CrdBrdProjects It's just for aesthetic purposes. So you can tell your pen apart from the person sitting next to you if a few people have it in the office...

  • @CrdBrdProjects

its just for aesthetics. i recently bought an intuos 4, looked through all papers to figure out how to change nibs (but ended up here anyway) and it said somewhere that they are just for looks - to personalize your pen.

  • Thanx it really helped!!!!!!!

  • Ahh thank you I was totally clueless as to how to do this. I never even noticed that metal ring, LOL.
