LOVE LOVE LOVE this. I am 25 weeks pregnant and I intend to breast feed for atleast six months and I am SOOOOOO tired of hearing horror stories about breast feeding. Keep doin what your doin. You are an excellent mom for giving your child the great gift of breast milk.
YOU ARE GREAT!! I love your videos and your Rants..lol. YOu keep me motivated to keep breastfeeding because My mother in law constantly puts me down stating that my son is tired of all this liquid and needs to start something better!! WHAT?!?! Lol She always implies that basically after 3 months children should be eating solids..I'm trying really hard to give him breast milk for his first year ( of course with a lil solid when he's ready) . But I feel your pain. :)
You are sooooo right to have done this video Jeni. I'm really unsure why people have to be so opinionated about this sort of thing. YOU are the one doing the right thing! I really really commend you for giving Deacon such a great start in life:-) xx
Thanks for the heads up....my daughter is 3 months so I still have a little while yet before she gets her teeth, but who would have thought that ppl would be so bothered by a mother feeding her child when they have teeth.I mean really....you worry about your boobies and I'll worry about mine :)
Thats crazy! Just becuase he has teeth doesn't mean that all of a sudden breat milk is no good for him anymore. He is still getting the nutrients from your breast milk - teeth or no teeth!
Kacen has 8 teeth, no solids, 8.5 months old...luckily I haven't heard much negativity, but if I did I'd tell them to mind their own business...U keep doing what ur doing! Today someone asked me (politely/another nursing Mom) at Jacelyn's music class, if he was on solids yet, and when I told her no, she asked how many teeth he had, and she said wow I'd imagine he'd be wanting to eat solids. That's the most I've really heard, other than people asking if he bites. Ur awesome! Keeping rocking :)
Oh you think thats bad? Someone the other day told me that I was going to hell if I breast feed my son I'm about to have because its child abuse. lol I was like WAAAAAAHT! But yes , just because a baby gets teeth doesn't mean you stop..Its funny how people think there opinion really matters. lol
Hey Jeni, I know you can never please most people it is SO true! My little girl hasn't been able to BF so I've always had to pump and feed it to her :( I do get sick of the "oh you need to give up and give her formula comment. Clearly I want the best for my daughter and for me that's breastmilk, that's why I pump 10 times a day! I loved your pumping Q&A! I feel ya there!
I don't get why everyone is so obsessed with how a mother feeds their child or why. As long as they are FED and healthy thats all that matters! You get criticism no matter what a person does. Can't win either way!
Ella has only 2 teeth :( I think she is getting her tops but she can still chew food up amazes me lol. If I did breastfeed her though which as you know I started pumping for her after I went back to working night shift. Even if she had teeth I would prob still try to breastfeed.
My daughter would bite and when she would I would take her off and say "NO, We don't bite" very sternly--took a week to get her to stop. I plan to nurse for up to a year---but my baby is less interested in nursing during the day now--makes me kind of sad :-(
How many times a day do you breastfeed Deacon? Raegan is 6 months and she eats 3 solid meals a day but I am scared that it is taking to much from my breast milk that she is getting I am just trying to figure this all out because my twins were fornula fed (cause I could not handle BF'ing two) but it is easy to maintain formula.. HELP.. I want to see if I feed her boobie enough!
Yes I agree 150% you must continue to breastfeed for a year at minimum! If you take them off breastfeeding then they have to go to formula and WHY??!! The babies are not going to continuiously bite the hand (boob) that feeds them because you just take it away and tell them no! People must not understand that just because a baby starts solids that they still need milk as their main nutrion for a year at the mimimum just like fornula fed babies..
Stay strong! People can be so ignorant when it comes to BFing. How the heck do they think people nursed back in the day, when there was no alternative? Those women went back and had more babies.. so... um, teething doesn't mean they're going to bite your breast off. Silly people.
I personally haven't heard it from anyone..but I do know, that before I even got pregnant I always said, I would NEVER breastfeed when my babies got teeth...and He's had teeth for 2 months and I'm not stopping any time soon. It's just ignorance! :)
I just wanted to add that just because your baby has teeth does not mean that they are going to bite. My second daughter is only 2 months so I don't know what it will be like with her, but with my first she NEVER bite me ever.
But I sorry you have to deal with people commenting on your breastfeeding, grrr.
This is such a relief for me, thank you for this video! My daughter just got her first tooth yesterday and I've been worried that she might hurt me soon hehe
Awe... congrats on her first tooth! I am so glad that I can help! Now if for some reason she does bite please check out my breastfeeding & biting video because Deacon did bite but just a few times- Our babies are not dumb- we can teach them already right from wrong...
That would be ideal (and we still may) but it puts our kids further apart than we want and I want to get a few months back where my body can re-coop from Deacon. We will see... there are so many reason to go until 2 it's just crazy! Props to you! (-:
I am sorry ppl are so annoying! I hate that people always have to comment on something just to make it seem like your weird or stupid UGH!!! BTW this is good to know for my next baby! I am hoping to exclusively bf, I hope my situation is a lot diff!
love you cat
