@Vettes4lyfe If you are looking at the kit photos on our website I can understand how that might be deceiving, but both the 4.5'' and 6.5'' use the same control arms. All (8) upper and lower control arms are longer than stock. The LCAs mount into our subframe along with the rear UCAs, while the front UCAs attach by way of new frame mounted brackets. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact BDS Tech Support of your local BDS distributor (517) 279-2135
@bdssuspension Thank you for your reply. I was looking at getting a wrangler after I graduate college and am looking to buying BDS lift. My buddy has used BDS and it is truly a bad ass lift. I need to contact tech support because currently i have a 5" lifted cherokee XJ, and am looking at 6.5" BDS or 8.5" BDs lift.. only problem is your lift states for autos only and mine is in fact manual. Thank you for your answer!! Now I can see what your talking about the picture just looked decieving. :)
@bdssuspension Ah! thank you for clearing that up!! I am looking into getting a wrangler TJ after graduating college and am looking at buying your lift. Thank you for clearing up the issue of the decieving picture and explaining it good depth in the space youtube allows. I do need to contac tech support as I currently have a 5" lifted Cherokee XJ and I would like to run a 6.5" or 8.5" BDS lift, only problem is that it states for autos only and mine is infact a manual.
@Vettes4lyfe On our XJ long arm kits, the mounting is slightly different from manual tranny to auto. Our kits can be adapted to fit your XJ with some very minor modifications. Best thing about it, it'll still be covered under our no fine print lifetime warranty. Easiest way to get the details on the mods is to give BDS tech support a call at (517) 279-2135 or email.
@bdssuspension Sweet!! If it still retains warranty that is awesome!!! From continual research of multiple different brands of lifts. I am all for BDS and will support it. I have seen nothing but good things! Thank you so much for your help, you cleared up the questions I had. :)
I have a '04 TJ this isn't really a suspension question but I just got 31" tires is there any reason for me to upgrade gears? I have some I guess you would say Pinging problems on the highway.
I wouldn't see a need to upgrade the gears with just 31'' tires. Depending on the model TJ you have there ran either 4.10 gears in the 4-cylinder Jeeps and anywhere from 3.07-4.10 gears in the 6-cylinder models. Anytime you put a larger tire on you'll lose some acceleration, braking and fuel economy due to the extra mass of the tire, but 31's shouldn't effect it too badly. I'd recommend stopping by your local reputable off-road shop and talk with them about it.
@j2rfarmer It handles like a dream on the highway! This kit is a true 4-link front and rear, improving on road mannerisms while still offering tons of articulation when the sway bars are disconnected. Upgrading from a leaf sprung YJ to a TJ you'll notice the improved ride and ability to flex.
@jcaled24 Assuming you purchased a TJ or JK Wrangler, if the lower control arms are mounting in the factory location and only about 18'' long, its a short arm. If the arms are longer and mounted to a new crossmember or custom mounts on the frame, its a long arm. At 6'' of suspension lift, it should be a long arm (if done correctly).
@bdssuspension Damn.. I guess I have a short arm. My lower control arms are about 18 inches and are mounted in the stock position. Oh well, Even with a short arm I still have lots of fun. Thanks for the info man.
I also have one more question for you, if you know it. I just recieved a pay check large enough to get me 36" tsl's. Will I have enough room with a 4" suspension lift and flat fenders? Also, I have front and rear D44's with 4.88 gears. Untill I go and pick them up from my cabin, will i be able to even move with 36" tires? Thanks!
We had zero problems with that wheel and tire combo. It worked really well with what we put it through.
However, due to how we the Jeep, we have recently went through and updated a bunch of parts on this TJ. It now has 17x9 poison spider beadlocks with 37x12.50 Goodyear kevlar MT/R's.
@bdssuspension yeah i have 33x 12.50 and i took it to Big Boys Playground LLC and all my buddies had to air down and i didn't went through stuff easier than my cuz and his rubicon with the lockers on
D35 are perfect untill they blow up which then ull switch to a 44 and be happy ... the D35 worked for me for 5 years of hard wheeling/driving dont under estimate the power
Slip Yoke Eliminator and Tom Woods driveshaft - only driveline modifications were done to the rear.
Belly pan is still being tested - it uses a different style trans mount so that you don't have those studs hanging down. Trans / T-case are in the same position so no motor mount modifications are needed.
Glad you like your kit - hope you have a fun extended weekend and get to put it to good use.
how come in this 6.5 lift there looks to be 6 long arms and 2 short arms. while the 4.5 look to be all 8 long arms?? am I missing something?

What driveline mods did you do? SYE kit? shafts?
And is the prototype belly skid a production unit yet? Any motor mount lift needed?
I have a 2" BDS kit on my '97 and really like it.
