I did not say anything about Jap bikes, I was merely quoting things that Mike Seate has said before he decided and found he could make money off the cafe scene.....
@Jumoschwanz -I'm not debating what Mike may or may not have said but, as we all will figure out, life is a journey and as such we learn as we make our way through it. I'm of the opinion that he has "found" what alot of us have known for years; cafes are cool as hell!! Cheers!!
@camets that's never gonna happen mate, seeing as certain people on this project simply wont allow it! Carpy is a phenomenon and is way bigger than this programme. Seate slags him off for being too commercialised despite all the parts the guy makes and the truly over whelming support & advice he gives free of charge. I'm with you all the way.... just a shame a lot of people will miss probably the greatest influence in recent times in the Cafe world
It doesn't suck at all - and yes, there is a relationship: The Cigar Store Indians was Ben Friedman's (the show's narrator) band in the 1990s and 2000s.
Oh great. Now we're gonna start seeing a bunch of random Harleys with clubmans bolted on. Just get a pair of split lens goggles and your livin the lifestyle. Fuck.
"Jap machines have no character or soul", Mike Seate in Iron Horse #100. ""Old bikes belong in a museum and not on the road", Mike Seate, Iron Works magazine, November 1996, at the time he was riding a Yamaha and gave up on his Triton project....
@Jumoschwanz Let me guess. You dont miss the Son of A..for nothing. Mature a while buddy. Its time to let go of Mike Seate's pocket. Im not saying dont ride a harley but respect all bikes, riders and styles. Do a little research on top of that about the STYLE of bike whats known as the Cafe Racer and what cafe racers are about and the HISTORY such as the bikes that were used in that time were British such as the BSA . The BSA company has way more history than Harley.
@Jumoschwanz New Jap bikes don't, but the old ones from the 60s and 70 and maybe some from the early 80s do. I have a 1974 Suzuki GT380. 3 cylinder 2 stroke naked bike with tons of character and a beautiful howl when you open it up. Looks like nothing else before or since with it's ram air scoops on top of the cylinder head, 3 into 4 exhaust system. Sounds like nothing else before or since (except it's big brothers the GT550 and 750) with its 120 degree firing order and 4 exhausts.
@FORDHAM4U I didn't say they would, I said the older Jap bikes have soul, but no the new ones. There's no questioning the hooligan soul of a 2 stroke antisocial, polluting, wheelie prone 2 stroke from the late 60s through the early 80s. In particular things like the Yamaha RD/RZ series, Kawasaki 2 stroke triples and to a slightly lesser extent the Suzuki GT series 2 stroke twins and triples. No way around it they had soul, even if it was antisocial as all get out.
Saw this last night and loved it! Fantastic programmning from discovery as usual. For the guy who mentioned the valid point about half the bikes not being cafe racers- they do not portray them as such in the programming. They just show the other bikes and scooters to go over the history and variations between cafe racers and mods/choppers etc. Looking fwd to more such stuff
The less plastic the better! Modern bikes are getting far too complicated. Look at the new six cylinder BMW - built in speakers and Sat Nav and weighs about 350kg!
Great that any trend is getting people on bikes. The more riders there are out there the more we can fight against anti Motorcycle views and laws.
If you want to customise your bike, you had better do it now before they wont allow you to modify your bike. Don't believe it? It's being discussed here in England!
I think there wont be moto guzzi's , or triumphs or nortons etc.etc. because these bikes are becoming rare and the parts that make it a good looking cafeacer expensive. There are so much bikes called "caferacer/canyonracer" who aren't.
Triton's are the real thing. And i really love the Vincent Egli...
Cool. It's a slight concearn that this may usher in a wave of hipsters on hack job cafe rat things thinking they invented motorbikes or something. I hope not.
Looks like a good ole good one to watch tho, cool nice.
This could NOT have come at a better time! I am in the middle of a gs 650 cafe build and sure could use some inspiration to complete the project, imma go DVR it right now
Seate slathers himself with every pop-culture cliche, latches onto any part of life that is real and turns it into a whore-house, bleeding the life out of it for his own personal gain, destroying it, all the while looking for the next victim to walk by that he can bullshit into his web of mediocrity…..
This looks a lot more interesting than the chopper bolt on shows. The folks that ride and build these bikes are the real deal. Love the guy busting up the bike. The OCC guys would never do that. They're too busy waiting for Fed Ex to deliver their bolt on parts!
Hey kids this is Pete with Dime City Cycles. Just want to chime in here and say how excited we are and how proud we all are to be a part of this. We're practically counting down the seconds out loud for the premier and appreciate all the support and excitement more than you could imagine!!! This is gonna be some crazy sh*t1
Looking forward to this! Check out my friend, master bike builder Alan Bernard of Santago Chopper in Riverview,Fl - featured in an upcoming episode with his 'Breitling Cafe Racer

@Scootertuner1000 ;that kind of bikes will never be cafe-racers,no matter how hard you modify them.

Don't bother posting here as anything too critical is being removed.
First Amendment? They couldn't spell it...

Around thirty per cent of the motorcycles in this trailer could be called cafe racers.
A bobber is not a cafe racer.
A chopper is not a cafe racer.
And,just in case you're wondering, a Vespa is not a cafe racer.
The backlash starts here!
