I am about to build myself a teardrop mountain dulcimer and I would love to be able to play this song someday! Where can I get the tabs, this is beautiful! Complete inspiration to a eager beginner.
@maggielovesmustard Wow thank you so much! You can try a search on everythingdulcimer and they have a very good resource page of tabs. I'm not sure where I got the tabs for this one , but I kind of added the chords to it myself. But if you like I can try and tab it out for you. Let me know if you can't find it, and I will look harder. Thanks again!
@onewomanandsomesongs I love this one too, but thank you so much for watching and taking the time for your generous comments! They are very appreciated!
You're in great form on this song, John; it suits your voice and the dulcimer accompaniment perfectly. Your playing has come on by leaps and bounds and is a real pleasure to listen to. Lovely story behind the song, too; I'd not heard this before.
@oldfolkiepad Thank you so much Paddy! That makes me smile. I also have found that looking into a song's history can give one a deeper appreciation for the interpretation. There always seems to be a longer story than what first appears in many of these old traditional tales!
I love it John! Always look forward to you playing and singing with your dulcimer. Loch Lomand is a wonderful old song - thanks for doing do many verses, very nice. Loved the picking at the end, you're so good on that dulcimer. :--)
What a great sound you are getting with voice and dulcimer, cousin. I am ashamed to admit that I had not heard that tale before so thanks for the extra enlightenment.
@Johnfern99 Thanks John, I'm definitley looking forward to the weekend. Hope all is well with ya! Yes, the meaning behind the song makes it all the more special for me.
@nllleonard Thanks NAncy (don't quite know the "NA" part of NAncy, but I'm getting used to it! :) Never been to Scotland, but I certainly have a lovely vision if it.
@rhopen Thank you very much Ron! Unfortunately, my wife is sick of it, so I tote it along when I go out of town. I just love playing it so much! In my wife's defense though, I can get rather repetitive... lol
This is awesome. I was introduced to this song by a punk rock version believe it or not. But I've loved it ever since. It comforts me to know somewhere in the world there are people with dulcimers in hotel rooms singing these songs. Proves the world hasn't totally gone to hell.
@derekeverett LOL, Thanks for the chuckle Derek, Truly appreciated. I am very curious to see the punk rock version, is it on YT? I've been caled a punk, and also as dumb as a rock, but I doubt this would qualify as a "punk rock" version.
It is for folks like yourself that keep me returning to You Tube...where I can find a musical showcase that inspires, captivates and compels in all of its sweet simplicity. You kind sir, have gone far beyond the performance and have entered the ultra-rare, higher and more significant plane of genuine authenticity. Thank you for perpetuating these traditional classics for the future generations to come.
@stewballmax3 Thank you Max. Your comment is a breath of fresh air. A very good and talented friend has left youtube, and another is leaving due to getting over run with bad comments. It is heartbreaking to see that happen, when there is such good musical talent and knowledge in everybody yet with just a few words, some of the greatest performers leave. Thank you for all your support!
This video rocks, I find myself coming back and listening to it ovrr and over
