  • yes UPS is cargo

  • omg best landing ever, these pilots must be really good....oh wait, the plane can land itself :P

  • Is it just me or does that plane have a very angry face???

  • @davetherave7 I can see why you'd say that. Lol.

  • @pilotnicco Yeh; A wee touch of the Hitler about that plane.... :..:

  • The same style plane always landed in Adelaide airport for DHL and also to bring the horses from Ireland for the Melbourne Cup via Morphetville Racecourse Events....we are talking now in the Eighties..but what a fabulous plane...My house overlooked the city and airport and beach and I knew all the flights and times..ps I also saw the QE2 cruiseline appear on the horizon and cruise to harbour in Port Adelaide....thought I was seeing things!!!! great memories of Adelaide.....

  • Man can U hold that camera still? Don't litter tube with such garbage!

  • I *love* the MD11!! <3 <3

  • MD11/DC10s are good for cargo, and nothing else.

  • fed ex is better

  • NICE

  • Why do they have a third endine on the tail? I'm no expert on planes. I'd originally presume for extra power but why not have more engines on the wing or bigger the two originals? Just curious to know :)

  • @TheSquishMovies The MD-11 is the big brother of McDonnell Douglas' ill-fated DC-10, manufactured in the '70s and '80s. Back then, planes with only two engines could not fly farther than 60 minutes' travel time from an airport. Therefore, companies added another engine (as adding two extra was not necessary for mid-sized planes). Everything has to be symmetrical, so the third engine had to be in the middle of the plane. So it was stuck in the tail. 747s, because of their size, have 4 engines.

  • @ariwcharles Planes such as the DC-10, Lockheed's L-1011 TriStar, Boeing's 727 and Tupolev's TU-154 are all examples of trijets. Just to clear any other things up from my response, the thing about not being able to fly more than 60 minutes' flying time from an airport is not because it's impossible, it was a crazy federal law that the Federal Aviation Administration came up with.

  • @ariwcharles Great detailed response thanks! Appreciate you taking the time to explain. Peace.

  • looks as though he is going very very slow.

  • @camerongoll Next time you are in the car with your parents, use a camera, or your cellphone and zoom it in while looking forwards and outside the window. Does it look like your traveling at 100km/h?

  • perfect landing

  • its awesome how ups still operates md-11 i see one parked all the time when i drive thru Raleigh-Durham airport

  • heheh the black stripe on the nose of the plane makes it look cute :P

  • 58,000 views for an out of focus ugly brown plane? come on- geez ..!!

  • Off topic, but that's one ugly airport...

  • if your talking about 0:28 nah thats not the airport. or the later parts with cargo containers...is cause its next to the port :D

  • I dont think Ive ever met a beautiful airport. Usually nothing more than concrete jungles.

  • UPS is the CaRgo plane rigHT ?

  • yes

  • @astoniz UPS is the cargo AIRLINE the MD-11 is the CaRgo plane

  • @44rears yah your correcT :)

  • @astoniz yes it is

  • @astoniz Cargo? No sir. PAX only. =)

  • @astoniz yes

  • @astoniz Yes, it is.

  • @astoniz RIGHT

  • This is the best looking plane ever made!

  • yeah i agree

  • @400exNick aside from the 787

  • bull---t the f1-11 is the best looking plane!!

    so there

  • @400exNick L-1011 is better

  • @400exNick i have to disagree the L1011 Tristar was a far superior airplane and looked much better

  • @400exNick your joking right

  • does anyone know where this flight is arriving from?

  • He kept the front gear up for about 6 seconds when the other wheels touched down!

  • yeah, only reversing throttle at the last moment there

  • the DC-10 is bigger than other planes like the 737 or the A320. the extra engine is necessary so the plane can fly.

  • well it isn't needed. There could be two engines just stronger - eg, 777 or A330.

  • Yeas but when the MD-11 was released the 777s engines weren't out. The 777s engines give up to 115600 pounds of thrust. The MD-11s give about 61300. The MD-11 is huge, so 3 engines are nessacery

  • A330 was only a two years after the MD-11. They could have made engines strong enough; but they decided not to. Partly because they wanted it to resemble the DC-10, and also because of ETOPS.

  • ETOPS requirements also dissappear when you have more than 2 engines lol. EROPS perhaps, but ETOPS, the letter T is for Twin ;) Tri 3.

  • is that an extra engine in the back top of the plane? should be more faster

    i love these babies

  • for some unknown reason i just dont trust md-11's =S

  • No wonder they look just like a DC10. what isn't wrong with that thing lol

  • very good shot

  • yay

  • thats no sydney you tool

  • Most certainly is Sydney, runway number 1 approaching from the north.

  • 16R not Runway 1
