but is the rebound of the head controllable by the vehicle? i think it was just chance that the dummy in this car hit his head on the beam; plus, the windows were down to allow this to happen.
The envoy is built on an extremely strong frame. Way too strong to crumple and absorb impact, thus passing on much force to the occupants. If you get under the front you will see it is like a battering ram. I suspect it is a design from a much larger/ heavier truck used here to save engineering costs?
I know I'm replying to an old post, but.... The GMT360 is body-on-frame, using a ladder configuration for a rigid chassis. That might help to explain the problem in terms of crashworthiness, but it does make the vehicle exceptionally durable for towing and hauling; it is definitely a truck in the truest sense of the word.
Vehicles like the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Honda Pilot for the same model year are unit body as opposed to body-on-frame.
Great car for accidents...I rolled over twice in my gmc envoy and all i got was a seat belt burn =) car was totaled though =/ r.i.p

the 2002 toyota 4runner performed considerably better than this plus the design of the 4runner predates the 2002 trailblazer by 6 years
and the 2003-present 4runner models get the highest front offset test rating
plus the 05, 06, 07, 08 and 09 4runner models do very well in the side impact
the 04-08 trailblazer fares poorly in the iihs side impact
