I loved Senna, he was great But Gilles was in a different league. He came from nothing. One thing I have noticed every athlete or driver has their greatest moments. For Dale Earnhardt it was winning the Daytona 500 and 7 Winston Cups. For Villeneuve it was winning the Monoco Grand Prix and that race with Arnoux. When I think of that race where Villeneuve blew a tire and raced it back to the pits I could not help but see the similarity the way Earnhardt flipped his car at Daytona and got back in and finished in it

Gilles was a very hard racer, but the comment that most impressed me on Gilles came from Keke Rosberg, saying: Gilles was the hardest bastard I ever raced against, hard but absolutely fair. If you beat him into a corner, he would never close the door or come down on you, Gilles was a giant of a driver. I agree 100%, he never did any Schumacher dirty tricks, Gilles is legend, Schumacher never.

What a racing driver he was!A true legend and he most certainly should´ve been the World Champion in 1982 and probably on other years too,because if Gilles wouldn´t have died in 1982 then there wouldn´t have been any opponents to stop that flying little Canadian! I have tremendous respect for Gilles! If there would be one thing that I could change in Formula 1 history then my wish would be that Gilles Villeneuve wouldn´t have died!He could´ve been multiple World Champion with Ferrari!

I didn't saw him racing...I'm 21 but I love F-1 and all his matters. I've always heard about Gilles (many years ago) but I never checked what he was really...Nowadays, is my fauvourite driver, the bravest and the most spectacular one, the only one I could compare with him, is Montoya (the same racing madness) and nevertheless he ins't good enough as Villeneuve.
Truly a beautiful tribute to the most incredible talent ever to step into a race car! Too many videos concentrate on his tragic death, but I prefer to remember Gills for all the breathtaking moments he gave us in his sadly short F-1 career. He was my inspiration to get into racing, and all my cars (over 24 years, except post championship years when I got to run #1) have carried #27 and a replica of Gills' helmet paint, and still (26 year later) I get people who recognize from whom it came!

In 1979 they raced Hockenheim and this is definately not Hockenheim.

The fact that Gilles is dead is for sure not the reason he's the best. Gilles was a pure and 100% racingdriver. Not a calculative piece of s... like Prost or Schumacher

Impareggiabile pilota, un talento troppo futurista ma così somigliante al passato,ad un epico combattente del volante (a Nuvolari) che doveva difendere fino alla morte il suo Santo Graal: la vittoria.Grazie x montaggio e la scelta della colonna sonora.Complimenti davvero ai realizzatori di questo tributo, degno di una vera leggenda che ho avuto l'onore ed il privilegio di conoscere durante il GP di Monza del 1980. I remember also about Alesi who had said many times that he would prefer driving somettimes at 90% instead of 110% but couldn't do so because the car wasn't quick enough.

I was eleven years old i cryed two days after his dead i'm italian , i have the magazine of his deat and put it in a frame, my eyes still get wet when i see his video he is my hero still now that i'm 39 i saw many drivers because i LOVE f1 nobody gives me same emotions even Schumacher , awever he was great he won a race in imola after the deacth of her mother and made incredible things but Gilles is immortal for who feel passion Formula one.

When I see Ferrari talking about Gilles and them in the picture together I feel like crying.
When you see him in the 1978 Canadian GP celebrating his victory, well, my heart misses a bit.
Gilles is a piece of Ferrari's fans and he'll always be more than a simple driver.

Ptin mais c pas vrai! c pas parce qu'il est mort que ça en fait l'un des plus grands pilotes de tout les temps! c'était je pense un super pilote mais pas le meilleur! Pour moi il était du niveau d'un René Arnoux ou jacques lafittes qui sont de très bon pilotes

Non sono daccordo, Jeanclaude. Arnoux e Laffite sono stati buoni piloti, ma Gilles era SUPER!!!!
Non devi guardare ai risultati da lui ottenuti ma a quello che lui personalmente ci metteva per ottenerli.
Noi ricorderemo per sempre il suo cuore immenso.

It´s the first time I´m watching this video, and all I can say is that tears are coming to my face. Gilles was always my favourite Formula 1 driver, an Uncrowded champion. It´s a beautiful tribute, thank you for sharing it.

I didn't saw him racing...I'm 21 but I love F-1 and all his matters. I've always heard about Gilles (many years ago) but I never checked what he was really...Nowadays, is my fauvourite driver, the bravest and the most spectacular one, the only one I could compare with him, is Montoya (the same racing madness) and nevertheless he ins't good enough as Villeneuve.

Truly a beautiful tribute to the most incredible talent ever to step into a race car! Too many videos concentrate on his tragic death, but I prefer to remember Gills for all the breathtaking moments he gave us in his sadly short F-1 career. He was my inspiration to get into racing, and all my cars (over 24 years, except post championship years when I got to run #1) have carried #27 and a replica of Gills' helmet paint, and still (26 year later) I get people who recognize from whom it came!

Enzo Ferrari himself used to called Gilles ''Little prince of F1'' or ''il destructore de la machina''. In fact Enzo, emulate villeneuve as his own ''son''. GV was able to drag 350 % from a low-average Ferrari single seater race car, in a way, that anybody could. Im very proud to see that nobody forgot our hero...
