In which case, blowing a separation funnel is a very easy piece of glassware for a glassblower to make, and thus not very expensive to produce.

i meant in the respect that they do not cool the smoke, they simply use suction to draw in air, one you pull up in water to draw air in, one you let water out to draw air in, this is the same concept, and will have little difference to the quality or harshness of the smoke. my original point was this is just an expensive version of something that should no be expensive.
