  • So i had to search out this song because of my pappy! He was playing a 60's station and this came on and it was just too cute!(: so glad I found it!

  • great ..magical love this

  • I know they were known mostly for being a comedy / novelty group but damn...these guys had fantastic 3 part harmony and great voices!!

  • This is one of the most underrated influencal essential groups to ever hit the charts. And this is one of their abslolute best songs! The best from the best - what more can one ask for?

  • This is my song for my sweet little dog who never stops wagging her tail! Ever :)

  • What is love? Five feet of heaven in a pony tail, wearing a poodle skirt (pink, white and black), bobby sox, saddle shoes, chewing gum, reading an Archie comic book, hoping Tommy will call for a date Saturday night (she loves his coral/white '57 Chevy)....What is love? It was the '50s when all things seemed good.

  • SOMEONE NEEDS TO PUT THIS ON GROOVESHARK!

  • I remember this one. My baby sitter Roberta. about 5-5 but I was just 11 she = 13 Loved that lady. Taught me the 'two step', and how to make popcorn balls. Still love her today

  • Thanks, Man, this is great to hear again after so many years. Their style here reminds of mid-late 50s stuff like from the 4 Freshmen, 4 Lads, et al.

  • 1964 was a very good year.

  • reminds me of a girl from high school in 1964

  • i knew a girl in high school in 1964 that always reminds me of this song

  • reminds me of a girl i knew in high school in YIKES 1964

  • Beats the current rapcrap/hiphop tomfoolery 7 ways to Sunday...THIS is REAL music, not overwrought, vocordered crap...

  • I got this 45 RPM record FIFTY years ago on my fourth birthday (which was 50 years ago yesterday -- August 9, 1960!)

Amazingly enough I still have this record in my collection. This is the ONE that started it all.

Great record. I used to play the flipside quite a bit, too.

  • Thanks! I forgot about this one.

  • I've tried to find this song for YEARS!!! Putting in just 'What is Love" brings up so many other songs!! It NEVER brought me to this one! Luckily a friend pointed me in the right direction. :)

  • For 51 years I been looking for who sign this song, I did not know the name of the song at that time I was 15 years old, It was on air for 9 weeks, but was on and off at times. Thank You for put it on You Tube. also thank you You Tube too!

  • I think it's my favorite of theirs also. Like how she's always making, and then always BREAKING, promises that she says she'll keep, but he loves her still for that pony tail that sways with a wiggle when she walks.

  • I was 12 and this song was like an instruction manual. She's five feet tall with a pony tail and walks with a wiggle when she talks. Ok, i think i got it now. I figured all the rest was sorta like icing on a cake.

  • I started UCLA in of 72. My girlfriend was tall, almost 511. One night after studying a lot and smoking a little - or maybe vice versa - this song played on the oldies station. Ann slipped her hair into a ponytail, then started dancing around the room, singing in the candlelight. The second time that opening line came up she changed it to, what is love, FIVE FEET ELEVEN and a pony tail. Was she really only wearing that hair band? Well, in my memory, she was.

  • Vocal harmonies, rhythm guitar chops and figuerines and cha cha beat and stops -- all outstanding!

  • Man, oh man!! This one was a foggy distant memory in the back of mind... now? It's way up front in the ol' noggin!

What a clean innocent sound... makes me think old Kodak color home movies and stuff from that era. I know... paper flex straws in a coke glass and the luncheonette in J.J. Newberry's... lol!

    Cool lil' tune... snappy!

  • were they from Connecticut?

  • Waterbury, Connecticut

  • As much as I enjoy listening to both 'Jo Ann' & 'Beep Beep',I must confess that this is my top favorite from the Playmates. Thanks for having this one partner!

  • sounds like 'shows you a nipple when she talks'!

...maybe those guys were subversive in their day!

  • If Hillary wiggled when she walkd, and had a dimple when she talked, she would be President. Thank God she is not.

  • watched this on bandstand silly but i like it mr-warmth

  • playmates had great harmony ..harmony

    has become a lost art

  • Harmony the Everly brothers The Beatles

    Beach boys ETC.

  • Love both of them especially the Everly's

my grand daughters name Is Everly in honor of the brothers.

  • Long time since I've heard this one.

Except for having the blackest eyes, my maganda Filipina fits this song perfectly.

  • Great song by a great group.

  • Thank you for uploading this tune! I always got a real kick out of this song, though it is kind of silly ain't it?

  • Yeah!!! I used to hear this on WMGM 1050 back then. I remember a DJ by the name of Dean Hunter who used to come on at 8PM. They were just up the dial from WINS at 1010. This never gets played! Just "Beep Beep". I also loved their recording "Wait For Me". What a great era this was for music. Thank you for uploading this!
