I don't get how this is wrong, students and teachers cannot arm themselves, so they have to rely on police that arrive after people are being shot. They should be trained, and if students are willing to volunteer then why not?

They should do a bunch of different simulations, like arming some teachers and students and seeing if more innocents die or if they take down the suspect faster and save people.

Bowman was a deputy with Clackamas county, and he was killed during a similar type of training at Camp Rilea (near Seaside, OR), when someone switched simunition for live rounds. I agree with this program. For one, it can be a shock lesson for the kids so they can handle the stress and fear of the moment and not panic as easily in a real event.
