He says wine but he meant Whiskey because of the gentleman clause back then he couldn't say whiskey and expect the song to ever get played on the radio.
This is disrespectful to beer drinkers. Beer comes in pints(like elephants). Wine is not really my tipple, so I'd best shut up now! I didn't realise JP had such a back catalogue.
