I cant believe the only reason Ive heard about this band is because I saw them open up for Katatonia and Orphaned land, Orphaned land sucks and should have opened for katatonia and swallow the sun

I have to confess that I didn't like the first two albums, like, at all. The amount of improvement in this album is... mind-blowing! Lots of dark, beautiful melodies and a very adequite harmony of sounds. The entire album is like from a completely different band.

New Moon is also a good album, but I think this one is their best. =) I'll be spending lots of dark autumn evening with this dark, beautiful, haunting music.

@oaklandrmoss18 I think it's a bad comparing saying Hope is similar to St. Anger. If anything, most Metallica fans will most likely reject St. Anger as their best album as actual fans are more likely to cite Master of Puppets or Ride the Lightning. I do think Hope symbolizes the height in StS' career, though.

Honestly, everyone Ive talked to feel the same way I do about this album, its good but not as good as Ghosts of Loss or New Moon. But I dont read too many of the reviews like you guys so I guess my opinion is irrelevant...

Critics don't know everything either but people listen to them because of their titles. I find that following your own heart will lead you to a better place.

@oaklandrmoss18 Personally, I don't like Swallow the Sun's new album or most of their albums as a whole with 'Plague of Butterflies' being an exception. I only like some of their songs including Out of this Gloomy Light, The Morning Never Came, The Justice of Suffering, The Ship, The Giant, Losing The Sunsets, Evael and that's it. On average I like one or two songs from each album but with "New Moon" and "Emerald Forest and the Blackbird" I didn't like any. That's just me though.

Not sure why so many are comparing STS and Opeth, they're very different from each other. I really like Opeth but STS is something fresh for me as I only saw them last year. I like their mix of clean vocals and growls.
