I don't get all the hate on Kris... American Idol winners don't get to choose their debut singles, do they? At any rate, it's a great song and I think Kris does an admirable job covering it. I doubt anyone in the US would have known about it otherwise.

Kris didn't even know it was a cover until after he recorded it. The producers decided to make it his first release. Since the Script didn't release it, Kris shouldn't get as much flak as he does for it.

What about Daughtry's "No Surprise"? How much criticism are they getting for one of their biggest hits even though Eric Dill recorded it first but never released it?

If an original recording was discarded by the owners & they give permission to let someone else use it, it's their loss.

While listening to yahoo music, Kris Allens song came on and I thought "wow" the Script have new material? I clicked on it to find out it was KA, I laughed and thought "wow, he is ripping off the script" When I googled KA and The Script I saw articles about the song. KA's manager should be fired! If you like the lyrics, make it your own, don't keep the "drum sound" of the script and pass it off as a single on your debut album. Big mistake!  Can't wait for the new Script Album!

This video helps to emphasize the undeniable: Kris did not change the song one bit. I love both The Script and Kris Allen, but I really think that Kris could have spiced up this song a bit to make it his own. Although I must say that I'm glad he didn't ruin it either. My friend told me, "If it's not broken, then don't fix it!". The Script's LLWD is definitely not broken... So there wasn't much need to change it to make it sound better. It would only be to differentiate between Kris and Danny.

Thanks for posting this. I am one disappointed Kris fan -- Jive/19R screwed him when they released this single -- it's pathetic!
