because of You Tube, I am able to see you, listen you, and enjoy ur excellent whistling. I am a membe rof Indian Whistling association and really it is pleasure to listen you although through NET but .. wow,, I can't write More. Thanks Morris to give a wonderful Reflection of Unknown art of this world which was ,, unknown unless untill you was born.
Tonight only, I heard you and I become a big fun of you. You are now my inspiration for my future. I am from New Delhi and whistling since 1996. Just only a year back i come to know that Whistling is an art in India and on today only just because of You Tube
I never thought that whistling could sound so pretty, haha. This is brilliant. Most of the time I just get annoyed when my boyfriend whistles really poorly and misses all the notes.
You're a great whistler! I've always had a secret dream of doing this kind of thing. I just have a few technique questions. Firstly, when you produce vibrato, is that from tongue waggling or is it just air vibrato like how flute players do it?
Next, when you're reapeating the same note many times in a row ("tounging", I guess one would say), is your tounge actually touching the inside of your mouth or is it all in your throat? I just want to make sure I'm doing it right.
Thanks for your kind words. vibrato is air vib and yes the tongue is touching the inside of my mouth. Have you heard sample tracks from my 2 CD's on my website? Have a listen and drop me a line with any comments.
Dear David Morris: I am a whistle lover in Taiwan, I practice my self for several years, but after viewing your video, I know I still have very far way to go, you are a real master, can I ask you is there any special way to practice fast songs? How can you whsitle that fast and that clear. I have tryed to control the breath by throat, like laugh "hahahaha", but there is a limitation of the speed, can not be too fast, and the sound will be stopped too strongly between sound and sound.
Hi, Thank you for your comments and question. You must use your tongue to whistle fast pieces. Practice waggling your tongue fast and try to produce different notes with each movement. I must say that I have practised for thousands of hours since I was a boy! Keep trying and I hope that you are successful. Thanks again for your comments, much appreciated. David Morris
Lovely tone, beautifully suited to this already classically heartbreaking song. Wonderfully balanced and integrated with accompaniment instruments. You lend great dignity to the true artwhistle.
It's absolutely one of the best songs ever written. As a composer and songwriter, it would be a dream if I could ever just produce ONE song with that kind of special character and longevity. And you serve the song beautifully well, with an appropriate balance between virtuosity of technique and the simplicity of approach that best suites it.
David Morris...you are my new hero:)...lol you make my aspiration of becoming the best whistler even more grand having just heard about you from searching around...thank you D hope to contact you soon
At my highschool. I've been taking lessons since grade nine (two years ago) and have been in senior band since the year after. I love the sound of it, the Bb scale is beautiful in itself. This song is in Eb, correct?
Around Toronto, Ontario. So across the pond from you if I'm not mistaken. You'll forgive me for not revealing much more than that on the Internet, besides, there's no real way to tell that this is, in fact, actually Dave Morris. However, I trust you for now :) You'll forgive any misunderstanding?
Ah, excellent, I'll keep an eye open. I was looking into purchasing your albums, do you know if they would stock them in Canada or is it more restricted to the United Kingdom?
Congratulations!! From amateur whiz !!:)

And wow, that last F.. I can't hit that note. I can hit just higher and lower, but not that F. How do you do it?
Pantalaimion 3 years ago
Maybe if you train the way he did, you'd get the same range! And I guess it partially depends on the shape and size of your mouth.
