  • blah blah blah this is emo this isn't emo. you goddam kids, get a clue

  • Stop trying to define. I call it music.

  • who cares? this shit is epic

  • you guys are over ten years late on the emo debate.

  • one of the best songs written ever written by modern man. hands down.

  • yeah man ian mackye dude man dude i don't do drugs and don't like mony

  • You all shut up. This is the origin of emo, real emo, no fashioncore bullshit, and you know it. If you understand it, well, ok, if you can't then go fuck yourself, fucking faggots and stupid kids.

  • Who cares if its emo or not? We all know that theres a huge difference between this and what society typically thinks of as emo.

  • emostep. . .

  • This is the direction dancehall reggae took after Yellowman stopped singing slack lyrics. This is the "Money Riddim," and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to hear Fatan Mojah pon dis one. FORWAAAAARRD!

  • you guys are all wrong, this is definitely dixieland jazz

  • ian would have to be one of idols

  • man this is good punk!

  • wow ian mackaye sounds great as allways

  • here's a crazy thought. listen to the lyrics, enjoy the music. stop arguing about absurd concepts such as genre. genre was invented by an industry to make money off of retards who only buy something or listen to something because it is 'hardcore' or 'emo'. fuck that. grow up. think for yourself.

  • some people consider this emotive hardcore or whatever. its good no matter what its labeld

  • It isn't emocore, emocore are bands like BlessTheFall that mix post-hardcore with emo rock... That stuff didn't even exist when this album came out and I still wish it didn't exist. This is punk to me

  • How the fuck can this be emo? its Ian Mackaye one of the most influentual punk musicians in the history of time. Get your fucking facts straight.

  • great song

  • @johnalley142025 hahah exactly my thoughts

  • "I'll choose my own shit scene"

    ...

why fags argue so much about terms and shit. oh they're fags thats why. this is fucking real music thats all. johnalley is right, we need less labels.

  • how about start with cutting "fag"?

  • HAHAHA , Mr. Wikipedia knows his music...I dont think Ian MacKaye would do anything that wasn't awesome...

    damn slack jaws...

  • Maggotriley I don't think you really understand what people mean when they say emoticore hardcore which is just a term for a style of post-hardcore punk back in the 80's (and yeah, even than the term was stupid) so...shut up and stop calling people dumb fucks when they know what they're talking about and you don't...you dumb fuck.

  • sorry but this is to cll the dumb fucks here if any of u seriously think this is emo core then u really have to think about whole as a whoe i don't think u cud be more wrong by calling this emo core so to all the dumb fucks who think this is emo ur wrong and most defiantly deff

  • thaaankk you!

  • when i first heard this when I was a lil kid i thought it was punk. its whatever you want to call it. fuckin who givs a shit really? I got to get this album agian. someone need to post giv me back.

  • best label for embrace is embrace

labels never give you the true essence of the band

and especialy with a band by one of the best muscians in the world my opinion.

    you cant properly label anything

  • its punk shut the fuck uuuuuuuup

  • It's emo-core I believe, not punk.

  • hahahahahahahaha, check related videos - 'Ian Mackaye - 1986 - Emocore is stupid'

  • haha yes yes! emo is gay as fuck these guys arent emo there just hardcore stop reading wikipedia!

  • @Anarasha This is not "Emo-core" you dishonor the music by calling it that. This is Embrace and that is what it is!

  • Of course it is Emocore.

  • emo-core? emotional hardcore? hungarian hardcore polka? you can call it what you like, Mr. MacKaye likes to think of his music as punk. even his acoustic Evens project.

  • Its Emo-Core

  • Comment removed

  • I'm not that emotion "orientated

    cry your balls off.

    Its punk rock, please

  • I don't really understand why this is considered proto-emo. It deals with collective issues rather than individual ones. I was under the impression that was one of the key dividing lines. It just sounds like some guys in a garage with an analogue recorder, trying to make some music. Its unfortunate this led to an expansive, decades long argument by a bunch of uneducated self absorbed teenagers who know little outside of their own sheltered lives and harnessed minds.

  • it's because of ian mackaye, man.

  • he has disavowed "emocore' from the beginning. and in fact his lyrics are more in the social dynamic than the personal one,,,

  • @nouseforapianoplayer How is Ian Mackaye "Emo?" He was the creator of Minor Threat, a hardcore punk band. If you think Minor Threat is "Emo" you know nothing about music. What IS your definition of emo music?

  • fuckin A

  • @Attarraxxia You are completely right. Thank you! This is not, and never will be, "Emo." And I find it extremely offensive that people label this music as "Emo." If "Emo" is short for emotional wouldnt that mean every song ever written is "Emo?"

  • @Attarraxxia

Great point, but I don't care what it's called, it's good!

  • @Attarraxxia Because 80s emo and late 90s/2000s emo are virtually unrelated genres. The term Emo was coined to describe a bunch of post-hardcore bands in the DC area like Embrace, Rites of Spring, Gray Matter, etc. Then the term got co-opted by some later bands that admired emo. Kind of like how Reel Big Fish isn't really the same genre as, say, the Skatelites, but both are called ska.

I would argue that THIS is emo, and crappy bands like Dashboard Confessionals are NOT real emo.

  • Post-hardcore... still hardcore.

Another classic argument in music snobbery.

  • just keep sitting their trying to analyze and fit this movement into a category. you guys are a burden to music

  • i love these lyrics

  • just got this album last night....finally!

  • I have to buy this album! NOW!

  • Sucks a donkey? You plonker. To quote In My Eyes: What the F*** have YOU done?

Its a 20 year old record FFS. Why slag it off?

  • THNX 4 POSTING, My record player doesn't work no more.

  • this isn't emo fuckwad this is ian mackaye

  • yea ian said that emocore was the stupidest thing he had ever heard

since when was hardcore not emotional?

  • i know and emocore is not realy hardcore its a soft mix betwean alternative rock and post-hardcore with more melodic sound

  • you're so lame

  • this is like Post-Hardcore emo sucks

  • No, this is Emo, one of the first bands to play that style along with Rites of Spring, Gray Matter and Moss Icon.

  • POST HARDCORE!!!!!

  • @minorthreat89 UNDERGROUND GETS FUCKED ONCE AGAIN

  • I prefer the heavy Minor Threat stuff.

  • oh wow cool super duper nice to know awesome cool radical you're hard
