  • how is it incorrect? that is screen tearing, i used to have that, before i knew what vertical sync was, on my old computer. turning on vertical sync fixed it - and it was way worse than that aswell.

  • btw, party at 0:32 !!

  • This video should be removed or something. When you google 'what is screen tearing' this is the first video that pops up, and it is totally incorrect.

Screen tearing is where you basically see two or more parts of the screen not line up, as if torn.

If you arrived at this page from a such google search, try the wikipedia page, it should be accurate.

By the way, anyone who does experience screen tearing in a modern game can usually turn on a vsync option in the game's settings to fix it.

  • thats not tearing...that's a dying card lmao

  • haha im shit with computers but thats not tearing

  • Looks like your comp got the Red Ring..

  • im sorry but what is screen tearing.

  • Your pc needs a priest

  • whats happening in this clip is a term called "Artifacting"

  • that is not tearing. as you will know by now, that is your card or monitor about to die.

  • I have ati radeon 9000 (old crap) and stuff like this is happening to me. Pls help :(

  • This is called; Artifacts.

  • This is not screen tearing

  • Uninstall WoW? See if that helps.

  • Your gpu is probably damaged

  • my mointor freezes

  • 0:33

    DISCO DISCO

  • get intel or get out of your basement.

  • This is definitly not screen tearing, looks like a bad driver or a blown GPU XD

  • Wow! I#m not trying to be a jackass, but that is bad when your graphics card is having problemswith world of warcraft!

  • :35

    I actually like that one!

  • maybe update ur drivers? or try to find an update/patch for the game?

and as blackarrowjh said, make sure vsync is turned on

  • looks like a overclock gone to high, to me.

  • This is NOT screen tearing, it is a really bad case of artifacting as Hisako said. Screen tearing is usually on moving objects/scenes where stationary it is fine but when it moves (or you move the camera etc) some part of the object/scene moves faster/slower than the rest and goes back to normal when stationary again. Vsync should eliminate the problem as it syncs the whole screens frame rate with your monitor/tv.

  • Make sure you have vertical sync turned on!!!!!!!!

  • I just heard 'screeen tearing' too for the first time, watching IGN's review of Bayonetta for Xbox 360. There's also a good detailed description of it on Wikipedia. Can't wait to get Darksiders today. I wanna see what all they hype about is about. They gave it a 10 out of 10, I'll believe it when I play it.

  • @poeticpisces2007 ummm who in there monkey mind would ever give Darksiders a 10? check again cause ive yet to see a great review for it yet.

  • Thank you for sharing what screen tearing is, I had no idea.

  • this is not an example of screen tearing. This is an example of graphics 'artifacts' generally caused by an overheating video card. Screen tearing is something altogether different and is not nearly as obstructive as the artifacts in this video

  • That doesn't seem to be screen tearing, but more like artifacts. That means your graphics card must be overheating. You can't record tearing unless you get the picture outside your monitor (recording your screen with a video camera instead of a recording software like FRAPS), and it doesn't become near as annoying as that.

  • That's really fucked up. O_o

  • whit nvidia got to control panel and turn on triple buffering and force vsync...

  • Enabling Vsync should fix the problem, if not take the card back.

  • yeah that's artifacting

  • It's artifacting. It's dead.

  • Enable VSync...

  • New Video card will fix this problem. Make sure the fan on your video card is on and running. Make sure you have the latest drivers installed. If this problem still presist after all of this. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that video card is done for. Get a new one. They are really cheap now adays. $100 will get something decent.

  • That is not screen tearing, it looks like your card is bad, most proberbly over heating

  • i acctually got screen tearing though, how do i fix it? , its annoying

  • looking at that, its either the graphics card is overheating or its dying.

If its overheating then you can simply buy a new gfx cooler, just check to see its compatible with your card by going onto the manufactorers website, then look for videos on here on how to install them :)

  • OMG! i couldve sworn i saw u raiding with me like a year ago i think...?

  • Thats not tearing, thats a video card RAM issue and they're prolly overheating or overclocked too high. I've seen that before.

  • so how can we fix it?

  • Cool it, lower the clock rate, or replace the card.

  • actually i got it to work like 2 months ago but yea i dunno what i did.

  • seizure much?

  • I own a Radoen X1300 andI had almost the same problem a couple of weeks ago. It got so bad I decided to buy another videocard. however i read up on some forums and found out about a possible heating problem. Turns out it was excessive dust/dirt, but not in the fan. it was on the heat sink. I cleaned it with a soft toothbrush and have had no problems with it since. Give it a try.

  • Possibility: Overheating. Is your video card overclocked? Since it gets worse, that's my only guess.

  • im having the same problem right now how can i fix it?

  • Buy a 9800 gt.

  • im getting that for christmas i hope its good =]

  • pretty sure it has to do with either

    1. The 7900, many tearing complaints

    2. The frames per second/refresh rate relationship

    3. Is your refresh rate higher than what is recommended for your pc?

  • im having a problem also, like when i move the mouse in the game it gets all choppy and stuff. It used to be fine before i installed some new Intel drivers off their website

  • same thing is happening with my 9800 gt on the night elf part. Annoying me to no end >.>

  • i would break my computr if it did that it just annoyed the hell outt me and i was just watching o.o

  • LOOOOOL

  • Looks more like shader difficulties to me...well at least the NE part does.. update your directX if it isnt full updated and check that everything is enabled correctly under dxdiag..If that doesn't work its probably a driver issue...

  • vsync?

  • download a new driver and get a fan

  • Started to happen to me too in TF2 around april or may. I have a 7900gt, the new drivers don't help either. I think that may have been my problem to begin with, the newer drivers. I used to be able to play fine, now it happens 5 minutes into the game. Happens on COD4 and COmpany of Heroes!!!! No answers found anywhere.

  • :,( WAAAAH I HAVE THIS PROBLEM TOO. Im so pissed of with the 7900 card. Mine does it worse tho. Its like stretching Every other pixel on my screen in to the centre of the screen then the next frame will choose oter pixels and so on. I HATE IT. WHAT DO I DO

  • it is seeming to be 7900 series, i get the same problem in almost every game i play, just started 1 day, i had not changed drivers or overclocked anything, now everything is upto date and it still happens. been reading TONS of forum posts at NVIDIA dating back well over a year and wonderfully there isnt a single post in any of he topics from anyone at nvidia :(

  • you should get the latest drivers from nvidia site and voila that will help your problem :P and if you already did that then go to nearest store and ask them;)

  • i got this before but i just put it in windows mode and voila! it works

  • that's a rogue slicing and dicing and roflmao'ing at the same time..

    sneaky b@st@rds aren't they

  • hahahahahaaa

  • ROFL, nice one !

  • *rubs eyes* Gotta lay off of the Shrooms lol

  • Hahaha good one:D Probably think 'bout getting a new graphics card? (for that screen tearing)

  • ur gfx card is running too hot, get rivatuner and ramp up the fan speed

  • Dont overclock the video card...

    Or try updating drivers

or it may be damages so rather get a new one.

    Hope this helps.

  • disco T_T

  • that looks more like artifacts than tearing.

  • same problem here, i use an nvidia card, it seems that everyone who uses one has this same thing happening.

  • speedhack

  • its a freaking rave in the night-elf's page.

  • Haha yeah! :P Rave FTW.

  • I've got the same card.

Pretty much the same, only less.

Better cooling should prevent some of it, but it wont completley eliminate it.

  • my x1900xtx is doing the same thing... Plus i see little colorful dots all over my screen..WTF IS THIS? DO i need a new card?

  • Same here. I see those stupid dots that make you think you have 1000 dead pixels. Im going to try reformatting my computer because, for whatever reason, that seems to help.

  • yea mine was doing that because the fan in t he video card got stuck and fried my card so hey dude just go buy a new card and everything will be better

  • (geforce)

  • This is not Screen Tearing!!! Screen tearing is when you are IN Game Moving the screen from right to left and getting small lines through youre screen!! Sorry mate it looks like youre video card is dying.

  • i can't wait to get ma nvidia 8600 graphs card, ive been stuck using this old 2002 version for almost 3 years now.

  • IS A dll file corrupted in file wow on data im not sure

  • this happens to me!

  • lool

  • I had that happen only once in Hitman Blood Money, never really knew what it was called.

  • yea get ur graphics card updated and get directx 9 if u dont have it.. its a must for WoW. 7900 should run perfectly fine on WoW.. My old comp with 6200 ran WoW very smoothly with med/high settings..

  • i got a question about wow and graphic cards is the nvidia 8800gt a good graphics card to run wow?

  • should be great.. ima currently using 8600gt im able to get framerates of about 50 in orgrimmar. much higher around 70-90 in other less crowded areas.. which is pretty good. 8800gt should be able to perform slightly better

  • thanx

  • lol thats overkill..just about anything can play wow.

  • that could even run cod4

  • yes it can i got a 7600GT and 1gb ram and 3.2 GHz processor and can run cod on highest :d

  • Have u update your graphic card drivers to the latest version because that fix my tearing because before that on halo i had tearing really badly

  • GASP!!!

  • that's not screen tearing bro

  • thats not screen tearing thats a problem with the video card. its stuffed or drivers aren't in properly i've seen this before, happened to me with my 6200

  • Same here :p

just upgraded to a nvidia 8600, only payed about 215 for it, works phenominal

  • Ouch, You can try seeing if a resistor or a diode has been chipped, send me a pic of ur card both sides and a little zoomed in maybe i can help u

  • It's your 7900 man. My brother had literally the exact same problem with the same card. The 7900s are great cards but they got screwy after a while. You should get yourself a new card for free. Good luck!

  • i'm having that exact same problem. not sure what the hell to do.

  • Only of course if you have had these problems :P

  • theres a setting that u can check thats in game under ur video options and it says check if your getting screen tearing. might wanna try what if u havent already

  • Oh, well, "been there done that", doesn't work. But good thinking ;)

  • No, you wont NEED to. Since this kind of screen tearing appears in ex. BF2 and TES: Oblivion as well :P

  • Did you download the latest driver for it? Double check DirectX settings in windows and update. And if its still stuffing up reinstall windows, and while your at it check over the cable of your monitor.

  • Most people seem to think that it is hardware failiure. Since i tested Rivaturner and when the temp (ºC) went over, i think it was 54, the screen tearing appeared.

  • I've gone and bought myself a new Winfast PX8800 GTS which is working fine. ^^

  • I got 8600GTS now and its working perfectly and it seems to be quite much better than 7900GT...

Games are much smoother and better FPS even though ppl was dissapointed to 8600GTS model...

So SEND YOUR CARD BACK AND ASK ANOTHER CARD! Everything will be just fine if you do that.

    Take care of yourself!

  • It's 1½ years old. And the normal warranty for PC parts are one year. So... Im screwed :P

  • There is normally 3 year warranty on graphic cards

  • There was a 1 year warranty for me =/

  • I had absolutely same problems with 7900GT...

I sent it back to shop and got brand new 8600GS for free without paying any extra.

That problem is GF 7 Series bad memory chips i heard and there is a lot of discussion about it right after they came for sale! Check NVidia forums..

  • what brand is your card

  • Its a Asus
