  • FUCK windowboxing...good vidja, though

  • best DVX footage I've seen here

  • Did you use any other types of lenses or stabilizing devices such as a steadicam, tripod, or dolly track?

  • good ligth, good photografi

  • Do you have very specific settings to make the picture look like this? Any adapter? Or is it ALL natural for the camera?

  • pro as fuck

  • Dude, yer good. 'Nuff said.

  • This was a great video, congratulations to those who worked on it! Really good work.

  • Excellent work! Beautifully shot....gorgeous

  • wow that is the best dvx footage i have ever seen

  • What lenses did you use along with the 24p for this shoot? Looks great!

  • Sorry to ask if this has been repeated, bu what filters were you using? What kind of lighting would you recommend? Thanks.

  • it looks like its all natural lighting and a lot of color correction in post.

  • what is the name of the song used in the video? i saw someone said its by "the smiths" but whats the name of the track?

  • pretty girls make graves - "the nocturnal house"

  • nice production

  • beautiful images =]

  • Okay, I just got my DVX100A. What I need to know is how do you import it to the computer?

  • easiest way is via firewire cable from your camera directly to the pc. but youll need a firewire card in your pc/mac first.

another way is to buy a very expensive dv-recorder, put the tape into it ^^ and then (again via firewire) capture the images on your computer.

...all unless you dont call even more expensive harddrive systems and editing workstations your own...

  • You mean to tell me you got a camera like that and don't know how to import it?

  • give me ur camcorder.

  • nice movie I really enjoyed it

  • that was scary-hes dumb

  • I know that you probably prefer the DVX100b over Canon Xl1 or Xl2, but which camera is better. I know that they both shoot at 24p but do you know which one has the better video quality? And if you have a canon Xl2 it already has the lense for the 35mm effect?

If you dont know its ok.

    Thanks

  • so this is shot with the Panasonic DVX100A?

  • Hehehe. I notice the "24P" scratched on the window. Subliminal :)

  • this is cool.. fantastic composition and look.

  • Great picture, lighting, Cinematography, and editing!!!! amazing!!1 and I'm in film school... lol

  • great job yo

  • No DOF adapter used? Wow.

  • I love what 24p does (after conversion) to my camcorder videos. It gives them a "documentary" feel.

  • Tell me please.. how do you keep the 24p look once you import it into the computer?

  • Well my videos come as 60i but I convert them to 24p, it's pretty simple. Just convert yours again to 24p i guess. Use "Internet Video Converter" it's a free software

  • who edited?

  • Good example of what the 100a excels at.

  • very well done. i got something to shoot for with my videos once i get one of these shortly

  • so did u use 24p framerate to get that picture quality?

  • 24p doesn't effect the picture quality, it just gives it a more "film-like" movement, the cameras sensors, focus, gamma, contrast, white balance, composition, lighting and color correction are what will produce a nice picture

  • please, please tell me about your lighting???

    -edg

  • all natural

  • @gendroned1 get a good white balance card. cost around $150

  • great picture and music.

    niezly klimat!

  • what did u do to get that flicker in the image>?

  • Well done

  • The quality is really good. Good job! May I ask format you used to upload this? All my videos I upload on youtube look awful after you tube have proceseed them.

  • very very very very very very well done

music is awesome - and cinematography is great

  • amazing band amazing filming amazing finished product.

  • very wel done... very well.

  • wow. awesome song and awesome video!

what codec did you use? did you use the standard lens from the dvx?

    thanks for posting, great work!

  • Very nice work!! One of the most film like videos I've seen shot with the DVX. Also, the clarity is amazing for youtube. Thanks for the upload! What settings/codec did you use to export and upload?

  • Ew...

  • i'm not sure i get the plot but the video's very well made

  • what do you not get?

  • doooood what format did you use to upload this

  • Mad props! Im a 24p owner as well. Killer work!

  • that was sick!

  • hey man!! i thought that was fucking awesome!!! i really loved your angle's!! thay were amazing!!!

  • i have the dvx too and i was wondering if you put a particular filter on the video to make it look more like film? thanks,

    danilo

  • I'm pretty sure he just used a lot of color correction. (curves, desaturation, etc). Otherwise it looks pretty stock to me.

  • that one should have won

  • It's very well done video but I dont know if I'd rush home to watch mtv to look for this video. If it came out in 1985-95, it would be big! MTV is full of this kinda stuff. Oh, and I dig a pretty girl who can make a good grave!

  • good camera work, and great shots... cool location too. The plot, hmmm okay. Better than my video for sure! This had me entertained!

  • This is definately good and I don't even really care for the song.

  • i think my favorite shot in your video is matt's reflection in the telephone booth thing.

  • good work ethan

  • yeah ok holmes23, don't know if that's supposed to be funny. this video was great, a surefire finalist at the least.

  • hes talking about the song and the band the smiths

  • very original song name.....:/

  • god that song ripped the smiths song name, what a rip. and it anit even a good song

  • Yeah, I didn't notice because I'm still upset about Led Zeppelin ripping off Herman Melville.

  • very good,wa ko say.

  • scottandsound...i dont know if you are real. i doubt it.

  • some parts lagged, great shooting though

  • I'm wondering... how does this go with the music??? when the music has a quick beat the video is mellow.. and when the music is mellow the video is more intense... .. how does the video follw the music ????

ok there were some spots that the dynamics matched up.. but it was rare .. not that the video isn't good ... TOP 20 for sure.. the editing was great .. but the story could have been a little more thought out

  • A great effort. Very well produced contestant for first place.

  • thanks alot for all the complements everyone

  • great quality, but agian watching people run around gets old. Try to keep the camera still for more then a second Mr.Greengrass!

  • not vey original...style wise or story wise...nice quality though!

  • hes chasing a girl after she doesn't answer his phone call duh

  • wow this video is amazing

    i see a winner here.

  • Very nicely done. The white flare between shots was a bit much, but overall interesting lighting and tone. It looks professionally shot. What camera did you use?

  • thannks. it was dvx100a

  • Good work. Many of the shots had flavor. Your reasoning for many of the sequences is clear. In some shots it looked like you just added black lines to go widescreen instead of changing the actual aspect ratio.

  • Hey, this one is really good. Great cuts to the music, which is rare in this contest. You should deinterlace your video though.
