Wow. How true did Don's words ring? Now Avery's back and can't (or hasn't) play the same way. He's cost the team more than he's helped them. I don't think he'll be around much longer. I remember him when he played on the Wings and I remember him as a good player without all the baggage. Oh well, the fasion industry is waiting for him.

No he doesn't fight the toughest guys (your Orrs, Big Mac in Edmonton) but to say he doesn't fight tough guys is simply letting your bias get in the way.
Last year he fought Hartnell twice and Carcillo once as well.

When Jagr was in NY he got roughed up by Chris Neil and Avery jumped straight in and fought Neil. Just because he winds people up and doesn't fight after every verbal confrontation doesn't mean he isn't a tough guy. To call somebody who gives up roughly about two inches and twenty pounds in every scrap, a coward, is unthinkable to me. Tootoo, Neil, Ladd, Hartnell, he's fought all of 'em.
