  • the darn thing still gets my point: acer sucks ass with their plastic hardware

  • i have the same laptop. i have mistaken install the other kext. now my audio does not working. where is the download link? what should i do first? delete all the existing kext?(i mean the audio kext)

  • what kext you used for the sound? where I find? I am using XxX 10.5.6 Leo in my Acer, Tanks

  • Are there drivers to get my mic working on my acer aspire 3680?.....everything else is running beautiful. Mac osx 15.5.7.

  • the internal mic, no. you have to use a plug-in mic.

  • i have the same laptop running leopard 15.5.7, I need to get the mic working thats all. I also was wandering if you can update to 15.5.8 osx from software update succesfully without botching the 15.5.7 install.

  • Not through software update, but you can manually download the update from apple and follow a guide on how to apply it on hackintoshes. its not too hard, but you'll have to reinstall all of your drivers.

  • lmao not leopard, i see u have xp xD

  • the windows XP window you see is mIRC. i was running it through vmware fusion. you can see in my dock and im running vmware fusion in fusion mode, with the mIRC logo in the dock.

  • I really wish you would write down everything in this video because I can't HEAR the video if my speakers aren't working. -___-

  • nice :P if you really want me to, i will.

  • its actually relatively quiet. though i've heard stories of other 3680's being really loud

  • i now have 10.5.7, and ethernet and wifi are still working great. you need a modified IOPCIFamily.kext for ethernet/wifi to work. I uploaded pretty much all the kexts that you need to get everything working over at insanelymac. just search my username over there. username is Reign Of Terror

  • the track he is using is: artificial intelligence - desperado, look it up on youtube it's a good tune

  • hi man

i have the aspire 3683WXMi laptop and i installed kelyway on it and i have the internal speaker working but i don't have the headphone jack working of the mic jack working. could you send me the link for the audio driver. also if you have the lan working could you send me that as well that would be helpful thanks

  • Hey cool vid.

my speakers on my aspire 3630 blew out like last year.

you know any way of fixing or running through a different pair of speakers?

    most appreciated.

    lewis

  • do u know how to get the acer thing that pops up

and it sais acer tour on it

how do i get that to go away

if u could help that would be nice :)

  • hi, do u a guide in forum or wherever? so i could try you guide. thanks

  • wow. that is awesome. ive tried to do that but unsuccessful....

looks like you did working many parts of hardware. i also tried to do working ethernet and wifi together. did you?

and how about sleep, power management and fan speed?

  • ethernet works fine, wifi works fine, sleep hasnt ever worked, and im not sure that it ever will. power management works fine, and fan speed is controlled by the laptops temperature sensors, not the OS.

  • sounds good. can you make a little tutorial for making all this stuff working? steps for updating to 10.5.2 (if iATKOS 2.0 will not works) and include your kexts. that would be great because you did a really good job.

  • yea, and since many people who own 3680 was suffering not to have sound and internet!!! u're the god!!!! let me know if u already have a tutorial somewhere, so we could do it! YEAH!!!!! =)

  • so far im the only one whos actually been able to get sound working. ive never tried kalyway, so im not sure if it will work right. the only way that i can get your speaker output working correctly along with your headphone jack, is if sound initially works on your laptop when you first install leopard. the leopard boot screen with the "welcome" in all different languages and a giant X. if you hear the music playing at that time, i can get sound working for you. if theres no music, try iATKOS.

  • Hi HotOnYourTrail,

Which ISO did u use? so i can follow your way to get it work with your kext files, also, where did u find the kext files??? and did u manage to get the sound and the internet working??

    Thanks

    Waiting for your reply.

  • i used iATKOS v1.0i and manually updated from 10.5 to 10.5.2. iATKOS v2.0i was just released thats an instant 10.5.2 update, though im not sure if any drivers have changed. i suggest trying v1.0i first, making sure sound works the first time you boot the system, then try 2.0i and check again. as for my kexts, i edited them all myself. as you can see, sound works fine, and internet, both ethernet and wifi, work just as well if not better than if i was running Windows.

  • Just curious, when you say manually updated did you use apple update? I'm just wondering if your using one of the EFI bootloaders and that's why your sound/ethernet is working.

  • i use the same laptop too. still trying to find the kexts for the Wifi and the audio. i don't know what the manufactures are. could u kindly walk me thru too? i'm very appreciate!!! u can PM my thru youtube messenger. and i'm working on the insanemac too, trying to get the solution. still couldn't find any thing about the drivers and have no idea about how to install kext files. please help!!!!! thank you so much!!!!!

  • Hey,

How did you get OSX Leopard running on the Acer Aspire 3680? I have the same laptop, originally came with VistaBasic but I run XP now.. Could I put OSX on it?

    Thanks

  • absolutely. so far the only trouble ive run into is the internal mic doesnt work, the memory card reader doesnt work, the PCMCIA card slot doesnt work, and the S-Video output doesnt work. everything else works perfectly after patching drivers. in fact, if you wants to install it on your laptop, i could probably give you a dump of all my kext's

  • Hello!

Well, I don't use the PCMCIA slot anymore.. And hardly use the SD Slot either so I don't mind about them..

Haha, I don't actually know what "Kext's" are.. So..

Also, I don't suppose you could tell me how to do it..

    Thanks again!

    K

  • i dont use my PCMCIA slot either, or my SD slot. kext's are drivers for OS X. its a package with support for certain hardware configurations. but seeing we're running non-Apple hardware, you have to patch them so that it recognizes your hardware and lets you use it correctly. so far, Ethernet, wifi, USB, touchpad, keyboard, monitor, VGA-output, sound, DVD drive. they all work for me. as for telling you how to do it, i could walk you through some of the things and give you kexts ;)

  • Hello again,

Oh right I see. Yes! I'd be very greatful for a 'walkthrough', and some of you help! I'm an avid Computer User, so you don't have to think of me as a Basic User! I work within IT, so I do know the basics and some of the more advance things.. :) But like I said, I'd be very greatful on your help installing Mac OS X on my Laptop.

Also, once it's on, can you install Native OS X software, like Adobe Photoshop etc.?

    Thanks again,

    K.

  • no problem. first i'd suggest downloading a version of OSX named "iATKOS v1.0i" which you can find on google, or any major torrent site. as for OSX Native software, of course ;) what else would be the point of installing OSX. i have the Adobe CS3 Suite installed right now. runs flawlessly. the Ps icon is actually in my dock on this video if you look closely. when i zoom in on the Aspire 3680 symbol, lok to the very far left. let me know if you have any other questions

  • I downloaded kalyway 10.5.2. Will it work? I've seen some posts on insanelymac detailing how to get it working, and I don't want to have to download it all over again.

  • if you want, go ahead and post your AppleHDA.kext's Info.plist over at insanelymac forums. my nick over there is Reign Of Terror. ive helped a few people try to get their sound working. theres actually a whole thread about getting sound working on Acer laptops in the Hardware & Drivers section > Sound

  • Let me know if you wouldn't mind sending it. I really want to play with your kext

  • is your model 3680-2022? and are you running Leopard 10.5.2?

  • It's a 3680-2682, which is virtually identical. It uses ALC883 audio. Yes, I'm running 10.5.2 efi/vanilla.

  • did your sound work when you first installed Leopard? before you installed a driver i mean. like, did the music play through your speakers while you went through the setup screen the first time you booted?

  • I've always installed w/the azailia out driver, so audio out of the speakers always works on the first boot. W/O the driver I get no sound. I've tried every release of leopard w/the some results. I like your kext since it would let me use the headphone jack or the speaker.

  • its a custom kext i whipped up. it sort of mixes the ALC883 driver, and the Azalia driver together into 1 kext.

  • Is there any way I could get a copy? I've been trying to get both outputs working at the same time for months!

  • Can you tell me what kext you used? I also have a 3680 but the generic azalia audio driver just gives me internal speakers. Thanks!
