I think the problem lies in 2 areas, the first being that the tape speed is two thirds of a compact cassette and second that the alignment of the head and tape isn't as precise. Think what Nakamichi did for the compact cassette, there just isn't enough space inside the micro cassette to achieve better results.
I never understood why microcassettes had to have worse sound quality.
I mean, the magnetic tape has the same width like normal cassettes. So why they could not make the tape speed greater, as to match the tape speed of the normal cassette, and even greater possibly and thus achieving greater sound quality? Was the lack of good stereo heads for the microcassette?
Why one cannot use the electronics of a high quality standart cassette player, with the microcassette mechanical construction?

Cool to listen to see what it sounded like, but a lot of tape hiss compared to a standard cassette with Dolby.
