I think he means that we lost another amazing drummer to the musical style "fusion." For example, dave weckl and dennis chambers are amazing drummers and their solos are mind boggling. But the musical style they play mostly is fusion. Fusion has amazing musicians but the songs in my opinion suck and have no feeling. I think thats what hes trying to get at. That these amazing drummers are too good to be playing something like fusion and that they should use their skills for other types of music.

Your inability to feel the music doesn't mean the music lacks feeling. I'm sure you'd say the same thing to someone telling you the music YOU like sucks and lacks feeling. Obviously these drummers love fusion or their solo projects wouldn't be FUSION. You not liking it doesn't give you the say on if it's good or not. There is lots of fusion that sounds cheesy to ME, but that doesn't mean it sucks (and it wins points for the high level of musicianship needed to play it).

Love it, those two first grooves starting with the 2/3 clave and on are like the essential latin-esque grooves for gospel drumming (from my perspective lol), I love where it goes from there as well. Love to see this with a full band. And tracks, although almost always cheesy sounding, usually sound very Chick Corea like.
