  • can i use any water bottle? and do i have to use salt?

  • @594JLP Yes, you can basically use any bottle and you must use salt (otherwise it will hurt--really!). The water needs to be distilled water or water that you've boiled---but don't use it when it's boiling hot. Warm the salt water before using it. Good luck.

  • @594JLP you should use a mix of salt ( idoine free) and baking soda..check the web for the correct mix...in Europe every doctor first prescribes a nasel douche-you can buy the salt premixed in the correct dose next to the many different types of nael douche contraptions....

  • Check out my cool trick to treat an itchy throat and tingly nose...

  • Ross, I've been flushing my sinuses with salt water for at least 10 years. I don't go a day without ... no kidding! I just stick my nose in a Tupperware container filled with warm salt water and suck in the water one nostril at a time. I just hold one nostril closed with my index finger. I've had one cold in the last ten years and it didn't last very long. And I don't suffer from allergies anymore either. My sister on the other hand can't bring herself to do this and always has sniffles.

  • Press 5 repeatedly hes saying hit like. lol

  • Make sure you use distilled water or water that has been boiled to kill things found in drinking water! Do not use straight tap water. Look it up yourself; person died from introducing a "brain eating" amoeba into their nose from tap water in a Neti pot. Rare I'm sure but still... Boil water for 3 min. first, let cool to warm, then use.

  • I cannot wait to post my next sinus rinse after a sinus infection!!! I had sinus surgery and the things that come out now would blow your mind! Sinus rinsing is NOT gross, i'll show u gross.. :)

  • 132 people have done their research about neti pots, WELL DONE!!!

  • How is it gross? It's clean water used to clean your sinuses.

  • I've been using a neti-pot to help cleanse my severe sinus infection, and it HELPED.

As a long-time sufferer of sinusitis (deviated septum) the neti-pot gave me a significant amount of relief.

  • Why wait for your doctor to do it? People in India have been doing this naturally for 400 years.

  • i had to do this everyday cause my sinuses are bad in winter ;p

but it feels so relaxing once ur used to it idk if thats weired..

  • dude's pretty easily grossed out imo

  • @lainzilla Totally, it's not like he's giving himself an enema or anything.

  • @Thesmoofenator How unfortunate, the qinter season can be quite difficult.

  • @Thesmoofenator Glad it works for you. It's no big deal to me now either. But when i first had to do it, it just seemed so freaky.

  • lol..."yogic" I'd be like: Yogic dat shit outta my nose, Yo!!

  • Um...well you can tell who is from North America or has no European connection. My Mother and Father are Estonian...and I have been using the Netti pot and nasal irrigation for years. it has allowed me to have a minimal of colds. Remember you get colds by touching your germ covered hands to your nose, picking your nose...and infect your sinuses .... healthy people rarely get colds Also do not kiss strangers...why do you think they check to check the kiss...or air kiss. better than shaking hands.

  • pause at 0:05... o.o

  • @AlienEffigy ?????? Huh???

  • @boinnng ur lol face xD

  • @AlienEffigy ............oooooooooookay?

  • @fetymann wow im gettin so much coverage

  • @AlienEffigy haha true

  • does anyone know if I could do this with just salty water? I'm dead sick with sinus infection for about a month now, and I'm running out of ideas on how to help myself. Will this help my pain ?

  • @twinmama0505 You could try it. But ther water needs to be warm (not hot). Cold salty water (and it needs to be salty---un salted water is painful) is NOT comfortable at all. Trust me. But if you have a sinus infection--try to get some antibiotics. When I started using this, I had a sinus infection and it helped...but a few months later I got some antibiotics and that took care of the problem. Now I only rinse during certain bad allergy seasons. Good luck to you.

  • @boinnng You need to use NON IODIZED SALT, and BAKING SODA, mixed into DISTILLED WATER ONLY to avoid burning of the sensitive nasal mucosa. 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized salt, to 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda, to 1 cup of distilled water. Be sure to heat and mix thoroughly; 20 secs in a Pyrex glass measuring cup, then TEST the water by placing one drop or two at the nasal opening. If too cold, warm for another 5 seconds, if too hot, add a bit more room temperature distilled water.

  • @twinmama0505 If you have non iodized salt you can use regular salt. The iodine is and irritant

  • @twinmama0505 You need to use pickling salt and baking soda. Regular salt has impuities in it.

  • @Nedspodos what about sea salt? Any ideas?

  • @2late4me2care No sea salt has even more impurites in it. You can find pickling salt in the canning/baking section of any department store.

  • @Nedspodos Thanks a lot. I do a lot of canning so I always have plenty of pickling salt.

  • @twinmama0505 Mix 2 or 3 teaspoons of canning salt (the kind you use for canning fruit, in the south its with the mason jars in the grocery stores) with about a teaspoon and a half of baking soda (helps from stinging and helps boil the tough mucus out ( i think) with about a quart of warm water( not to warm) that's all the solution they sell you is. And use a baby snot sucker thing to apply it. I think it works great for me, some cant handle the water up their nose.

  • @twinmama0505 Sea salt is reccomended over regular table salt - but either way it's only about 1/4 tsp salt to 8 oz of water.

  • @twinmama0505 Sea salt is reccomended over regular table salt - but either way it's only about 1/4 tsp salt to 8 oz of water.

  • @twinmama0505 Oh god I hope you didnt do that, you need to ad another product in, or it wod have been extremely painful/burning... i think it was baking soda or something... an easy google search.

  • @twinmama0505

I am sure you found your answer but I make my own homemade cleaner. Sea Salt 1/4 tsp and 1/4 tsp baking soda in 8oz of water. 4oz per side and so far its been fantastic.

  • @twinmama0505 Best to use sea salt, and a bit less than half a teaspoon of it in lukewarm water. You can't use non-salted water, you'll know right away why. If you do it properly, it'll ease your sinuses. The pain is caused by pressure in your sinus.

  • @annib00 It is addicting once you get used to it... it's soothing. Glad you are on the mend. Is it still coming out bloody? Cheers!

  • @annib00 Ouch! How was the surgery? Successful, I hope. Cheers!

  • The only reason i'm doing this is because my doctor told me to do it........So I put it on Youtube! I need attention!

  • @1997LT1Camaro Actually, no--I did it to show to my friends (most of whom are out of town) what I had to do. If you look at any of my other videos, you will see they're just little videos of what I'm doing--again sharing for my friends. I never realized my sinus rinsing (when I put it on 3 years ago, these are some of my earliest videos) would be viewed so much. Why anyone who doesn't know me would want to watch it is beyond me--but... I don't care, but it was certainly NOT done for attention.

  • Bah, it ain't so bad. And it's very good for you. You're rinsing out a lot of pollutants you've breathed in. Still think it's bad? In the old, old days, sailors used to clean out their sinuses with very salty seawater. I once tried using heavily salted water to irrigate my sinuses. It burned like hell. What you're doing is easy, and once you do it for awhile, and once you learn how healthy it is for you, you'll eventually look forward to it. It's a regular ritual for me.

  • You don't do anything.

  • @talladys124 Sorry--this was one of my first videos. I didn't know how to edit them together---but there are 2 others where I spray up my nose...

  • @rypat34 I wish I understood what you wrote. I hope you have happy, healthy sinuses! Cheers!

  • pls make sure to try this rinse with extra care though because you can do a lot of damage if you are not well informed on it. u can infect your sinus with water loving bacteria-pseudomonas(not exactly sure of the spelling) n viruses.have to use clean water(filtered or distilled) n the bottle should be properly cleaned with disinfectant...

  • Dial 1 800 WAHHHHH -- a sinus rinse is no big deal.

  • @cmokon I know that NOW...but when I first got it, the idea seemed gross. Doing it the first few times was strange and uncomfortable. Now it's old hat.

  • hey guys i just did this with plain water in a water bottle now my ears are popping and my nose is clogged what the fuck did i just do??!?!?!?

  • @WHOxDEY09 OUCH! I hope you at least warmed the water... No saline/salt??? Ooooo i'll bet that was NOT fun. Really, try it again with warm salt water (NOT HOT). It may help. It took me several times of doing it to get used to it---and my sinuses used to it (I think my ears popped a few times as well). Good luck!

  • @boinnng Actually after about 10 minutes I feel alot better! And will simple table salt do the trick?

  • @WHOxDEY09 YEP

  • @WHOxDEY09 You should use non-iodized salt, as table salt is typically iodized.

  • @WHOxDEY09

Careful if you're using table salt, as it usually contains anti-caking agents.

Having them up your nose really isn't good.

I'd suggest sticking with pure 100% sea or rock salt.

They're natural, better for you, and don't contain anti-caking agents.

  • gross, this is far from gross...it's awesome

  • @Extragiligant I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • So this is what Neil Fox does in his spare time...

  • why is it gross? The sinus rinse feels amazing... Everyone should do the rinse every now and again. It's basically an ancient yogic practice to clear the sinus' in such a way.

  • It's "gross" if you are new to it or unfamiliar to it. Afterwards, once you've gotten used to it, it really is no big deal and rather soothing.

  • @thejugglenaut91 Why does everyone bring up yoga and other earthy semi religious stuff when something feels good? Sorry but I'm noticing that and it's starting to get on my nerves truthfully. But don't freak out. I understand it's your thing and none of my business.

  • @Drake14161337 Maybe because sinus cleaning is an ancient yoga practice like the jugglenaut said...

  • I thought you where talking about sex at first... BUT! its about sinus....

  • Ha! Sinus Sex! I guess you'd need really WIDE nostrils for that!

  • You are cute, remind me of Dr. Drew.

  • It is really not that gross, you are being VERY OVER DRAMATIC! Neti pot works better anyway.

  • VERY OVER DRAMATIC * 2 my friend

  • actually the neti pot doesn't work better because it relies on gravity. The NeilMed is better because you can squeeze it which will helps bust through a total blockage. Using the Neti pot will just dam up in your nose if you're totally plugged up.

  • This works, and saved my sinuses from years of irritation.

  • I actully works.

take some buckleys to burn the big stuff then do it. it goes in your mouth sometimes... but just keep breathing!

  • BUCKLEYS FOR THE WIN

  • It is also common in Berlin (don't know about the rest of Germany).

  • neti pot corrected my bad sinus problems.i am really not sick with sinus trouble anymore.been using the neti pot for a long time.

  • BEWARE of sinus rinsing! It could make you even worse. I've been rinsing for about three months. I did get a good relief the for couple of months but than things got even worst than ever before. I am not sure why, perhaps not all of the fluid always drained out and caused infection, maybe some damage, I don't know. it's been a year since I've stopped rinsing and my sinuses are still not back to normal.

it might work for some but here is my experience with it so be careful.

  • Perhaps you should start again. Or even better, thoroughly clean your house, replace your carpets, change your sheets more often, get rid of your pets which are bringing in filth from the outside, or don't allow them inside ever again. And/or maybe you have a mold problem in your home and don't know it. It's more common that one would think. Mold can cause all sorts of health problems.

  • I'd been nasal douching for about three months, fucked up my eustachian tubes. I wouldn't recommend this nasal lavage to ANYONE.

  • nasal douching!! hahah!!!!

  • Question, have you had any ear infections in the past? Had tubes in your ears as a kid? Do you get nasal infections easily? Catch colds that don't go away soon? Sorry, I'm just trying to get a better understanding of your situation. Please tell me everything else that goes wrong in your head/throat/sinuses. Thanks

  • I do this every night. It helps massively.. it isn't gross..

  • So it's okay to shove salt water in your nose every night of the week, right? Because it's natural, right?

  • Dude, grow up.

The Neti pot has been used for thousands of years without incident, like cannabis (Run From The Cure) . If it was uncomfortable AT ALL you got the salt mix wrong, also, get a real neti pot, not the big pharma water squirter you have now. Leave it to the 'medical' community to mess up something simple. Kids can do it for Gods' sake.

If you need to check with a quack FDA quoting 'doctor' before doing this....you better ask his permission before peeing or blowing your nose too.

  • I always ask my doctor's permission before peeing.

  • Me too.

  • LOL

  • The doctor always asks TEAM DRAGONFORCE before peeing

  • yeah.. your right

    too much salt

the amount of salt in the pot... shouldnt be at any discomfort, because its the same amount taht we carry in our bodies

    meh

  • I have extra big boogers 'cause I'm an extra big man, so I need that pharma water squirter. No wussy neti pot can clear the builder boogers I produce

  • hoho, the constant flow which you can achieve with the Neti pot is sure to flush out even the brownest (Yes, brownest!) of boogers!

  • @newfieronin agree with everything you said, except about weed lol. don't bring weed into this. it might not kill you, but it fucks up your brain. it gave me anxiety.

  • @3silvergold It didnt give you anxiety, it just made you realize you're a scare little piss ant... quit being a little bitch. You don't know what anxiety is until you've had a fucking cougar trying to rip your face off.

  • @ACLogikel it's common knowledge drugs affect you mentally. i'm not even going to argue with you, tough guy.

  • @3silvergold Yes, common knowledge drugs fuck you up mentally... it's common knowledge that Jesus is god too right? The fact that you are trying to use "common knowledge" to debate is silly, there are actual scientific studies done on marijuana and not a single one of them concludes "it fucks up your brain".

The fact is when introducing something new to a person, whether it be school, a new boyfriend/girlfriend, a new job, etc.. Involves the CNS and anxiety ensues, you're just a weak kid.

  • @ACLogikel fair enough. you win

  • i love my neti pot, my parents told me about it after trying it themselves. to anyone feeling hesitant about the neti pot, don't worry, it's easy, safe and feels great. as long as you don't snort or breathe with your nose while performing the treatment, you'll be fine. just read the directions and you'll be on your way! it really is a fantastic way to clean out your nose.

  • I've never used a neti pot, but I use a spray called Saline Solution xD It sprays up your nose and tickles a lot hahaha

Despite that, it works like a charm! I use it whenever I have a cold, and I have no problem with stuffy noses!

It is a kinda gross feeling though!

  • I love my neti pot, no one needs to ask their doctor about it. It's totally safe and works great!

  • Yeah, it's a kind of traditional therapy here in Japan too. Eastern medicine, basically.

  • It's common in India. Nothing wrong with it. Good for overall health and the immune system as it cleans out the crap we are exposed to in everyday life. Prevention is better than the cure as they say. ;)

  • I had surgery on my nose to correct problems like this.

  • You SOUND like you have sinus problems.

  • these things are great.

  • you dont need a doctors Advice to use a Nasal Irrigator , i have allergies and i bought myself one.

  • I'm doing it too, it's kinda gross but not that bad. Try using too packets and you will scream in pain!

  • haha i have to do it to, its not that bad...i kinda like it lol
