  • I have the chaos titan full quad on my S12 with the HK style sights, and they are great. However i wouldn's say the stock rear sight is worthless. I think the stock rear sight is good, by far not the best or the worse. All this consider I am more than satisfied with my chaos parts they are amazing, and I prefer them to the stock rear.

  • the second you said grinding off the back sight to put on a rail i lost all intrest in that rail there is no way in hell im doing that the back rail isnt bad compaired to a mossburg 500 with one gold dot .

  • @lostboys111 - it's the number one best modification I did to my S12. a rear sight that cannot be drifted for windage is worthless, unless your going trap shooting, and an S12 is the worst choice for that. the crappy factory sight was replaced with a burris Fastfire co-witnessed between true front and rear sights. now there is no question about being able to hit the target with birdshot, buckshot, or slug.

  • @weaponeer I just purchased my Saiga 12 and they now apparently can be drifted for windage, so I should just be able to tap it out and see if it will fit. Just looking for my 922R upgrades now.

  • @OIFV0608 - the prior models all looked like they could be drifted, but the rear sight could not be moved without damaging the receiver (including by 5 lb sledge).

which is why in the past you needed to cut the sight out (big pain in the butt)

  • Do you have a video to clean and lubricate a saiga 12?

  • @The727evolution - not yet, but I can add that video idea to my list.

  • Actually the iron sights on the S12 are pretty good, better than my Mossberg 930's since it doesnt have a rear sight just a dump bead in front.

  • Do you like that thumbhole? I live in NY and was thinking of getting it or moving the trigger group foward and putting a thumbhole ak stock on it

  • @Noobpatty - I would not really class it as a thumbhole (like post ban chinese AK's), but having said that, it's a comfortable stock to use

  • @weaponeer thanks, what kind of stock is it then? :P

  • @Noobpatty - I don't class it as a true thumbhole stock, because it lacks a thumbhole. I do class it as a non pistol grip stock. the stock above is an original SVD stock, but I have replaced it with the new US made wood stock of the identical type (listed on our website)

  • I don't think any man has enough holes or enough gas in this world. ;)

  • Would this rail fit a Bulgarian AK-74???

  • @DropC09 - this model only fits the Saiga 12 shotgun, but they do make a model for AK's

  • @weaponeer They do? Can you send me a link? I can't seem to find it on their website. And I'm also looking for their full rail version.

  • @DropC09 - it's incorrectly listed as Romanian AK47 Quad Rail on the chaosus website.

  • @weaponeer Thanks so much!

  • What the hell is that popping noise during the entire video... I couldn't finish watching it

  • Glad I found this, I was hammering the crap out of the rear sight. What a POS!

  • Does the forearm touch the barrel?

  • Weaponeer, Your video is the main reason that I got the Chaos quad rail for my Saiga 12. I had a question, I don't gunsmith so I'm a little skeptical. I was told not to hammer the rear sight on th saiga 2 b/c that it will loosen the gas block, also I believe I ran into your website where you have a DIY that you can saw off about 95% of the sight to where you don't have to hammer so hard on the rear sight to get it off. Do I have anything to worry about loosening the gas block?

  • @juvi77 - those rear sites don't budge if you try to drift them, so the only means of removing them is by cutting them 90% through, and then it just takes a light tap to remove the rear sight at that point. then you can install the Chaos rail.. you will love it.

  • @weaponeer what about the gas block problem that my friend mentioned? Do I have anything to worry about? Also I went with the Magpul flip up sights. What red dot do you recommend for that set up? I also got the magpul angled fore grip on that baby, just waiting for the install of the top rail and I'm set. Also, keep up the great work brother!!

  • @juvi77 - the gas block and trunion is pretty solid, and should be fine (I had tried a small sledge hammer and the sight never moved, so it can take some abuse, but I don't recommend it), but you would need a shop press and a jig to remove that rear sight without damaging the shotgun, which is why everyone states to cut the sight off. the sight is worthless, and not worth saving

  • Does the dust cover come off without removing the rail?

  • @DAChiappe - Yes

  • I like this video,thanks for Sharun

  • I just ordered mine can't wait for it to come in. Tks for the vid.

  • Hey, be careful !!! Number of holes in gas tube depens on barrel lengh!!! It has nothing to do with quality of Izhmash!!!!!

  • @DeadCat81 - actually it does, and it was a well known problem. A friend of mine had an S12 identical to mine, including the aftermarket gas plug, and barrel length, and his was missing a hole, and did not like low brass at all, mine never had a problem. the issue was his was under gassed, and low brass didn't have enough gas to reliably work the action. (he was a C2/SOT). They did state they would correct the quality control, but you can still buy one that's missing holes.

  • @DeadCat81 Yup i agree. The longer 'goose barrel' Saiga 12s have less holes than do the 19 inchers. Some of the older versions have different set ups as well I've seen. They have changed designs a few times, its not a quality control deal so much, I don't think they "forgot to drill a hole".

  • @TiborasaurusRex - I know a number of people with 19 inch barrels who were missing the correct number of holes, which is why there was a buyer beware notice posted all over the net. it's likely that they grabbed the wrong parts for assembly of the 19 inch. in fact I know more people who had the wrong number of holes for the 19 inch then the correct number of holes. it was quality control for not verifying the parts prior to shipping,

  • @weaponeer - I didn't know that. I read in the manual that the Saiga12 is under constant developement and upgrading. Is it possible the hole number differences are due to different production runs of various gas configuartions? I know they changes designs a few times.

    Thanks for the info.

  • @TiborasaurusRex They never explained the the problem, just stated it would be corrected in the future, which is why there were so many warnings about purchasing at that time (you had to check the port and count the holes prior to buying). The S12 was never really made for low brass (cheap shot shells), so they didn't see that as an issue. thats how the aftermarket gas plugs were introduced to the market. The biggest problem with S12 is the non-removable barrel, and thats why it may be banned.

  • @weaponeer Thanks for the good info. I like the review. You answered my question. Fine was fussy with low brass ammo at first, but after I polished up the mating surfaces along the reciever rails and bolt carrier it runs like a champ. Just a little bit of special attention and they eat that cheap crap up like the Cookie Monster.

Where can a guy check to learn more about that Saiga 12 banning debate?

  • @TiborasaurusRex - likely NRA-ILA would be a good start. the non-removable barrel and the high cap mags are under fire (non-sporting). Obama has already banned a million rifles, and high cap shotguns are on the chopping block (they want to stop importation) which is how they banned the first million.

  • @RantinAndRavin Your just an inbreed queer troll with no balls or brains.... by by little man

  • LOL at a drum sight on a shotgun!!

    Hahahahah

  • @damarei - considering most have a BB for a sight, and the stock S12 sight is garbage, the HK Diopter style site for todays modern Sabot Slugs is a great idea, and the fact it co-witnesses with the red dot makes it even better

  • @weaponeer

Don't get me wrong; I love my ghost ring, but I just bring my narrow mind around :)

  • How much was the whole setup, I just recently purchased a factory saiga 12 a bout couple weeks ago and I feel like spoiling the gun and myself.

  • Nice saiga. Needs a pistol grip conversion and new trigger.

  • that muzzle break just oozes badassery

  • Do you have to remove the forend to open the dust cover to clean the weapon?

If so how easy is that operation to do? Tools or tool-less?

    Many thanks.

  • @wye4379 - dust cover removes without any tools, forearm removal would need an allen wrench

  • Great video, but you should really convert this Saiga 12 to its original pistol grip and stock configuration. It will balance and handle sooo much nicer. That is of course, if you are not behind enemy lines in states that require the back asswards combo stock and hand grip stocks that you currently have on the weapon.

  • That is a sweet shotgun. Looks like it is from a Sci-fi movie.

  • A friend told me that the ATF wanted to ban the Saiga.. I guess it looks too scary for them lol.. This shotgun is definitely #1 of my list of firearms to get, i just hope it is still available by the time i get one.. I think that i want to get a pistol grip one for mine

  • @Thirsty4stalin - they will likley classify it as a DD, and the reason is due to the number of high cap drums you can buy for it. the Striker and all the other high cap shotguns were treated the same way. if you have one it's grandfathered so it's legal, but those that don't will have to get them via the NFA paperwork. will it happen? well, we do have the most antigun president in US history, and he did just ban half a million rifles that held 8 rounds max. who you going to trust?

  • @weaponeer How can they classify a shotgun as a DD just because it can hold a lot of rounds? That does not fit their definition of a DD at all. Ugg, they are so annoying, making up there own definitions as they go along.

  • @Jesses001 - thats the problem, they had no rules. The Drum Fed Striker shotgun and a few others ended up being classified as DD's by the ATF. but what do you expect? for many years they classified a looped shoelace as a machine gun, so everyone was walking around with 2 machine guns attached to your shoes. They may not be known for their Intelligence, but they are know to aggressively punish legal citizens and not gangs for crimes. Sadly its the US version of Gestapo

  • wtf where it says Uploader Comments the username is ironhaas503 :s

  • wow the whole first minute is like gun-porn

  • Good job, man. Love the saiga!

  • Looks mean.

  • @SONOFAHGUN - got a mean bite too... lol

  • Always love the zombie references. That is a sweet looking shotgun. I usually hate how shotguns look but this one is beautiful.

  • Great video!

  • Its fine for me too

  • Your videos are amazing, i absolutely love your editing, hopefully your allowed partnership, its well deserved.

  • @SocomElite187 - I was a partner in 2009, it's not worth the trouble, plus now I don't have to worry about doing videos for any reason but the enjoyment of sharing with others, unlike many who do it just for money.

  • i think i know how i want to rig my saiga now. where did you get that stock?

  • @ironhaas503 - the stock is an SVD stock (direct bolt on)

  • I think the audio is off. I hear the background music fine through out the whole video but your voice track is garbled.

  • @midwestiowashooter - it plays fine for me. for some reason YouTube messes up the audio when you use high quality sound systems for audion capture. around 5% have issues and I think it's due to the codec YouTube is using. I have the proper codec so it sounds fine even on cheap speakers (Windows XP, IE 8.0.6)
