donating blood is a good example of propaganda and psyops. Amazing people don't think twice about letting a stranger stick a needle in their arm and purposely bleed them..amazing. Glad I'm not brainwashed
The first time I donated blood I almost passed out, not from fear but because my blood pressure dropped low fast. But they laid me down put an ice pack on my head and I was fine within a few seconds. It was probably just my nerves getting the best of me. I am donating again tomorrow :D
@ubermisogynist I understand the personal reasons, but I see it as an opportunity to be selfless and think about other people who are in 10x worst positions that need the blood. I was working in the ER one night and a man needed a blood transfusion for an arterial burst in his colon. The other ER staff brought in donor blood, started a line, brought him up to the OR and saved his life. That is why donating blood is a great and selfless act to help other people.
@Master11782 it's insane. think about it. you are letting a stranger *stab* you and then *bleed* you..i don't see how people can allow that without a second thought. Reminds me of that game Lemmings. The save a life argument is mute. it's one thing to donatate to save someone you know but to save strangers doesn't mean anything to me. I've never know anyone who needed blood. So it's not the common.
@ubermisogynist That doesn't mean a damn thing. Just because you never met a person who needed a blood transfusion doesn't mean it isn't common. People that lose significant amounts of blood due to trauma need blood transfusion, hemophiliacs need blood transfusions, internal bleeding, people with anemia, and many more. Statistics show someone needs blood every two seconds in the U.S., 30million transfusions are done each year, and 38,000 donations are needed daily. Get the idea?
So I'f someone pokes a big hole into the blood collecting bag and the person leaves the needle in will the blood just keep on pouring out until she bleeds to death?
@hap1meal Maybe? Seeing as the collection can take several minutes (I had a friend who took 20 minutes), I would guess you would loose a critical amount of blood if the needle was left in. Of course, some people clot when trying to donate....So It probably depends on the person.
I usually faint every time I have blood drawn or get vaccinates. I had a morbid curiosity to be brave and watch the part of this video where the needle goes in and starts drawing blood. I almost fainted. Simply from watching it. O.O
@PercussivePercussion I didn't even realize such a condition existed. At least now I know I'm not losing it. Thank you for pointing that out. I've always passed out upon having a needle penetrate my skin or even from the mere sight of it happening to another. It's quite a relief to know that there are others who experience the same thing and that I'm not alone.
My blood type is the kind where I can take any type of blood, so there really isnt a use for donating mine. I would love to though, but I just don't see the point.
@twilightpony223 If you are type AB+, the universal recipient, there most definitely IS a need for your blood! Even though there may not be a huge demand for your blood type, people who are AB+ like you, DO need your blood. Donate for them. TWO: You are a universal plasma donor. Plasma, roughly half your blood, can be given to people of ALL blood types. When you donate whole blood (the way people usually donate) your blood is separated out and the plasma can be given to anyone! So donate! :-)
@SouthTexasRich AB is not the universal type O is my dad donates all the time AB+ is needed but not as much as O i was just curious as to why you said AB is the universal type if you could tell me why that would be great
@twilightfanedward199 Blood type AB is a potential universal PLASMA donor, not red cells. O is universal for red cells but not for plasma. Both plasma and red cells are blood components (parts of your blood). The entire explanation is too complex for this post but info is available online.
I've never donated blood in my life mainly because they don't pay you anymore, and also I have a very rare blood type (AB-) so i want it to be worth my while to donate, so I don't see myself donating blood unless I get some sort of incentive.
Your nurse looks like a lovely lady, I really want to give blood so I'm hoping I have a person I'm comfortable with. I just get nervous with needles in my arms for a long while, but I don't want to let that stop me. I'm going to have a needle in my arm for a few minutes compared to a potential hospitalized person without a choice of having needles and tubes sticking out of them :/ its an amazing thing to do.
I'm 16 and have donated every two months since I could (almost to one gallon! yay!) Gee, they barely put the needle in your arm! With me, they have to stick like the whole thing in. I was surprised when I saw your video. It looks like they just poked you...lol
I remember the first time I donated blood. I really felt like I did a good thing afterward and I was proud of myself, so now I donate whenever I can. It doesn't really hurt all that much. It's a little uncomfortable having the needle in your arm for that long, but it's not bad at all.
Donated mine for the first time on Wednesday. There was hardly any pain. I didn't feel light headed afterwards at all. Everything went perfect. I just have a real nice bruise on my arm now. I was really really tired afterwards but that's normal. Some people also get cold afterwards but I did not. They played really good music too so that was a plus. I guess I was a good bleeder because it only took me about 5 minutes. haha It just depends on the person.
I did it for the 1st time today, and it was nowhere near as exciting as I thought it'd be lol :P We were just sat waiting for a while, then it was over in a flash. Didn't hurt, and I didn't faint (I actually kind of wanted to as I never have, and want to see what it's like lol). Funny thing was, while we were waiting, all the songs playing in the trailer seemed to be blood related..... keep bleeding, keep keep bleeding... you only get one shot, so make it count...... freaky :|
I wish I could donate blood again...it was really worth it. But after what happened the first (and only!) time I ever donated, I can't donate any more =(
@Snowflake4906 As they were taking the needle out, I started to feel light-headed, which they told me was normal, so I didn't think much of it. But then I passed out for a while, and threw up when I came to. They had to keep me on he chair for three hours to observe me. About three weeks later I got a letter from them saying it was because of my height and body weight (which was exactly the minimum). So my names been red flagged so that doesn't happen again
Great Video!! Thanks for making this!! I've given Many times I'm at 7 1/2 gallons now, and I am going to show this to my students when they have questions!~ Thanks again!!

does it hurts? Of course getting your blood drawn hurts.
Feels like a white hot needle going into your skin, then a sharp sting following the needle. As the blood is drawn, you will lose feeling in your arm. This is the good part. When you get feeling back in your arm, you must get ready for the most painful experience in your life.
does it hurts?? i want to donate blood for my former teacher who's lyk a mom to me... and shes in the ICU atm needing blood donor, any type.. im thinkin of donating blood but im afraid it hurts?? :(( sum1 pls msg me..
