In the god gifted islamic castle the terms like "pakistan ideology", "pakistan national culture" and "pakistan nation" are used by the ruling class of pakistan to decieve its people just like the same ugly argument that a fashion show in a five star hotel will promote the "soft image of pakistan". two side of the same coin.

I am not a great fan of fashion shows. But in the context of today's Pakistan, gestures like this acquire immense importance, not only to show the international community that Pakistan is not just about Taliban but, more importantly, to shock the mullahs inside Pakistan that they can't take the country for a ride.

I disagree. There was hardly anything obscene in this show. Yes few attires were bold according to Islamic culture. If you compare Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey and rich Arabian countries, they are far more "bold" than Pakistan. Coz these countries r more integrated to the world.

Ashu, I think there has been a serious misunderstanding! I DIDN'T create the video but merely uploaded it to highlight my native Pakistan's identity crisis. I strongly disagree with the video creator's message that fashion shows are illustrative of Western decadence and and are a threat to Pakistan's "unique" Islamic identity and ideology. In my opinion, it is precisely such warped thinking that prevents Pak from fostering a tolerant domestic atmosphere and embracing globalization.
