one of the first routines i ever saw back in the days was galina's ball routine and it had me glued to the TV, i recorded the competition and watched her over and over, it was magic and it still is

i cant believe back then they had someone playing the piano for the routine music. that must have beem stressful for the piano player to come to every practice having to play the same song over and over again 3 hrs or more a day.

thats nothing caompared to the elements we do now. rg is so much harder now.

...reality check... it was pretty back then, the gymnasts were smarter and didn't focus as much on fitting lots of elements into a minute 30 and being as skinny as possible. they tried to match thier routines to the music. it was actually art...

but rg nowadays lacks: apparatus handling, expression, precision, perhaps even technique as not everybody has decent pirouettes or balances.

How do the floor areas differ betwwen RG and Artisitc gymnastics? Are the RG floors sprung?

@KDJY4 not the rg floor is just a carpet so the gymnasts have to create their heightness by themselves, in my opinion that's why the have better leaps than AG

This is rhythmic gymnastics in it's essence. Very beautiful. Hopefully, there can be a nice mix in the future with this level of artistry with the technical direcetion of the early '90s. I look forward to seeing more of this competition posted. ~twlboy
