  • Thank you Friendship is Witchcraft! :D

  • A masterful display by a musical genius. Brian May emulating a Dixieland jazzband with just his guitar. Love the broken record section at around 2:36. Simply superb.

  • There's a whole jazz band playing at the end? No, it's just Brian May. I would've like to see George Harrison doing that. Beatles are great, influent, the most important band ever, etc etc. But they're not the BEST.

  • This video gets it right. VERY well done!!

  • Brian should have heeded his own lesson; Anita Dobson from Eastenders doesn't seem to make Brian that happy.

  • gran tema y video curioso!

  • George Formby hehe! I love a night at the opera, old favourite :)

  • nice!!

  • I would have mistook this for a Beatle's song had I not known any better.

  • @phillipo yes, Roger Taylor himself said they were partly influenced by the Beatles, and he described the way their music sound as very eclectic just like the Beatles' were

  • @phillipo also, Brian May sounds like Paul McCartney :))

  • @grecasophia That's the biggest catch for me. Sounds like a dead ringer for Paul. :P

  • @phillipo im not sure if thats a compliment or an insult phillipo. queen were 10 times better than the beatles

  • @Tinker8177 The Beatles were also 10x more different from Queen. I don't dare compare the two.

All I know is that between Queen and The Beatles, they make one kickass music playlist.

  • @phillipo the beatles were shite basically, queen wrote far more intelligent songs than they did, especially in queens early years

and all the beatles wrote were love songs mainly, at least freddie and the boys could write a vairety of different songs, other than love, matey

  • @Tinker8177 thanks to the beatles, queen wrote far more intelligent songs than they did...

    there, I fixed your comment.

  • @Martykun36 il say again the beatles are shite and wrote far more intelligent songs than they ever did

  • Great clip!

  • Great video!!!

  • greath song

  • anyone knows in which concert Queen played this song? Please help me, I really want to listen a live version of this great song.

  • @gdomotiz They never play this song live. All the instruments that same to sound were played by Brian with his Ukelele-banjo and the Red Special with the help of the mixing table. Was totaly imposible that we play it live.

  • Brian May: the wonderful, talented man who wrote this WICKED song. My favourite Queen member with an amazing guitar and even better hair. To this day, he keeps Queen alive alongside Roger Taylor; both deserve to be knighted for all their efforts. Brian has written some of my favourite Queen songs (this, '39, Who Want To Live Forever, White Queen, the list goes on).

In celebration of Dr. May's achievements, I want to wish him a very happy 64th birthday today, and may God bless him.

    QUEEN <3

  • Brian May played this entire song either on his Ukele or using his electric guitar. No other instruments were used other than drums. Quite Brilliant.

  • @peterdsalmon don't forget the bass!

  • Is that John Pertwee on 1;24??? Great tune though!

  • this is just too amazing

  • la mejor de todas

  • 0:07-0:10 i think he sang about the time when he was young, coz his family were poor.

  • ...His humble trade...yeah...;)

  • @dead4fun It is just a song.

  • @runwayblond I know that. I was being facetious.

  • my favorite members of queen are roger taylor, john deacon, brian may, farrokh bulsara, eddie howell, tim staffell, and paul rodgers. (yes i know thats all the members)

  • @Epic0Studios eddie howell and tim staffell are no longer MEMBERS of queen as you put it matey

  • @Tinker8177 neither are Freddie Mercury or John Deacon, but I'm sure you know what I mean.

  • Had to come and listen to this to see if the repeat at 2:36 was actually in the song, or a scratch on my record. I'm content now :)

  • ah yes this song shows the true brilliance of Brian May

  • Great video and song of course, thanks for posting x

  • 1:09

    it's a mandolin!

  • @TheYabanzik wrong all there is is his fathers old banjolele and his red special

  • Absolutely incredible

  • I just love this. Really captures the spirit of what is, for me, Queen's most "British" song. The shots toward the end of Queen on stage are brilliant and fit in seamlessly. Well done!

  • hmmmmmmm, its a banjolele, not a ukelele

  • Audio quality is excellent!

  • Ok to the genius that said eagles, etc. are better than Queen. Ok, the only musicians with more recognizable hite are probably Elvis and Michael Jackson. As for the Eagles, all I can recall is Hotel California. Fleetwood Mac? Really? REALLY? As for Queen, take most people off the street, and they have heard Bohemian Rhapsody, Another One Bites The Dust, We Will Rock You, and We Are The Champions. That's FOUR songs almost anyone knows of Queen.

  • @yryriza "i fucking hate the eagles" - the dude

  • How many bands have a every member with a college degree, and one of their members with a doctorate? Only one. QUEEN! There can be only ONE!

  • @yryriza YES

  • HAHAHAHHA i made my gamertag for xbox live it is GoodxCompany lol

  • GREAT JOB!!!

  • Wonderful!!!!

  • Great job with the video capturing the feel and story of the song.

  • Who is the wanker who dared compare the mighty Queen with The Evils? Queen had class written all over...The Evils is just cheese, man!

  • The gtr orchestrations and counterpoint of this song are truly amazing! Geniuses at work!

  • A masterpiece!

  • The best part about Night at the Opera is that none of them needed drugs in order to come up with these ideas. It was just all creativity. THAT is what I love about Queen.

  • This is literally a gay ol time

  • Great Asian women for you ***lushfmlk.info***

  • Queen=Happy=awsome! :)

  • Real profiles and thousands of Russian women gettop5.info

  • i wonder if the woman at 1.13 is still alive nowdays... JAJAJAJA!!! she was BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • I first heard this song back when the album came out.... IT'S SO TRUE!!!! dammit!

  • I hate how underrated most of Queen songs are.

When they hear you talking about Queen all they think of is We wil rock you, Bohemian rhapsody, etc.

  • @Angieyt that has been their legacy, even from when they first came out. they were always underrated by others, except true fans and musicians. at the same time when they were fresh on the scene, unlike today, they weren't alone as far as talent goes. there were lots of great bands and musicians running around then. In Queen's day they were competing with bands like Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Foreigner, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, etc. Unlike today with one sell-out competing with another.

  • @HermitintheRain You´re trying to say that Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Foreigner, Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles are in the same level as Queen? NO WAY! This is the band who made the first videoclip, this is one of the first bands to make heavy metal music, this is the first band to play in south american stadiums, this band has the biggest selling album in Britain and the biggest selling single in America, This band is considered the best live band of all time and Freddie Mercury the best voice

  • @TheJumpyPopcorn you are right, The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac don't belong in this same group. Both are head and shoulders above them all. The Eagles in fact are the sphere of Michael Jackson and Pink Floyd when it comes to actual album sales. What people afterall are buying, even decades after their release, is a telling story of which bands truly are among the greatest. No one is like Pink Floyd, and no one has been as prolific or as influential in the music business as The Eagles.

  • @TheJumpyPopcorn the music of Queen, while it had some great moments, didn't have any staying power. having been a teen in the 80s when Queen was making its way in the rock and roll world, it is remembered how Queen pretty much began to nose dive with the release of such silly songs as Radio Gaga. The great days of Night at the Opera, Day at the Races, etc were fading. The Game might be said to be the last respectable studio album put out by them.

  • @HermitintheRain Queen is the band that dared to put on a 6 minute length song with an opera section , at the time releasing such a song would fail but Queen succeeded! A Nigh At The Opera is one of the best albums of all time, the band created its own style, with Freddie´s amazing piano skills, amazing chorus, Brians magnificent guitar and of course The Sonic Vulcano by Roger and John.

  • @HermitintheRain Really? Is that why you are here commenting on a song 3 months ago that was realeased 35 years ago? Of course Queen has staying power. That's also a title of one of their songs!

  • @TheJumpyPopcorn Unlike Queen, which had a short period of releasing great music, The Eagles in contrast had been putting out great music from the beginning. This is a band whose members, when they went their own ways, usually had just as influential a career as when they were together with musical greats like Joe Walsh, Don Henley, Randy Meisner, Glenn Fry, etc. As good as Queen was, the same can not be said for them.

  • @HermitintheRain Unlike The Eagles, Queen is a band who have released 12 different albums. Queen is a band that made all kinds of music, opera, hard rock, pop, funk, punk, metal, gospel, blues, jazz, rock n roll, psychedelic rock.... what about the eagles? Unlike many bands, Queen only began to use shyntetizers in 1980 for The Game, til then, their music was all based on Brian´s magnific guitar skills, ( Not even The Eagles can top that).

  • @HermitintheRain The only band in the world that has all its members with a nº1 top chart. 35 years after its release, Bohemian Rhapsody is still voted the best song of all time. Queen best band of all time. Freddie Mercury best band of all time oh and of course, Queen one of the best songwriting group of all time that made one of the first heavy metal songs, Stone Cold Crazy. Queen sold more tha 300 million worldide and still sells nowaday cause by making " silly" songs they gained the world.

  • @TheJumpyPopcorn * voice

  • @HermitintheRain end of discussion for me. Your opinion is your opinion. We dont change opinions.

  • That was a very, VERY good video and I sure appreciate it. Queen provided the soundtrack for my life. God blessed us with QUEEN!!!!!!!!!

  • Brian May is my favorite guitarist ever.

  • Who is the man with the ukulele at 0:08?

  • @julianmuniz George Formby. Do a search for him here on youtube and you'll find a lot of him. I believe he was at least part of the inspiration for this song.

  • What a talent, wish I could meet Brian in person: I would like to ask him a few questions, but mostly, I would like to thank him for his gift to mankind.

Thanks Brian! Or should I say Baby B?

    :)

  • The stock footage is kinda like nightmare fuel...

  • The 'Jazz Band' section in this...PURE GENIUS!

  • What a FAB funny video to a great song! Made me laff.

  • sounds like a beatles song haha

  • @nmzanie please...the beatles (love them!!!) couldn't get jobs as Queens roadies.

  • aww look at those ducks

  • Love the video, love the lyrics, love the song! What an incredible album!

  • Just to correct the description... It was a Genuine George Formby Banjo-Ukulele brain played this song on... it was his father's and the instrument he learnt to play as a child before moving onto guitar!...

  • Awesome guitar???? solo

    Brian is very versatile

  • What a cheerful way to throw in your face such life's tragic. Brian May is a genius.

  • Brian does the sound of trompet, sax (and probably even tuba) just with one guitar!!! And there are people that say hes, at the least, one of the best. Great song, godlike guitarrist and pretty good singer. A pure genious that changed my life alongside with queen

  • Awesome song!

  • one of those songs that is great but not that popular :S

  • All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain...

  • I love this song!!I love Queen!!S2

  • brilliant freakin brilliant

  • great song... ive been listening to Night At The Opera and its awesome

  • It's the best album ever. Every song is great, more than a half are incredible, 3 are master pieces and 1 is the best song of history.

  • @Maxesar Hmmm, the best song Bohemian Rhapsody. 3 are master pieces. hmmm Bohemian Rhapsody, Love of my life, The prophets song. Half are incredible. hmm the 3 I mentioned also death on two legs I'm in love with my car, and good company? Are those your picks or should I just pick my nose?

  • @yryriza

  • @yryriza What a sucky attitude. Don't forget that people of ALL ages are into Queen which is a testament to their talent.......I was listening to Queen while I was having a relaionship with my now husband of almowt 35 years;;; I have an aunt how is 80 friggin cool and loves Queen. You're barking up the wrong tree..Talent is talent and reaches across centuries. Kiss my ass.

  • There are no horns or synthesizers on this track.Just incredible.

  • Actually Brian did all the jazz band and the bells on the guitar.

  • @kutzbill

which is quite amazing, come to think of it

  • I love this song and this video! This album is incredibly good!

  • i want to hear a mandolin version, anyone got one? :D

  • its great indeeed, but i personally think that Freddie would sing this MUCH , MUCH better.

  • Brian May is my favourite Queen member :)

  • Many people only isten the music but they don't notice that this song says many beatiful things altough the music is great

i love this song and the video is iincredible

  • "Take care of those you call your own and keep good company." Queen rocks even when giving useful advice! Freddie, RIP.

  • This record has one masterpiece after another... It is incredible just to think that before this song comes Love of my life, and right after, well, the best song of all times. And this song is just madly perfect.

  • Hold Those true in your heart. Even if you've never met them. I will stay true to my sister Moe. I Will stay true to Farookh, Brian, Roger and Deacon. I Love Queen. "We'll Stay together till we Fuckin' well die, I'm sure of it."

  • ONE OF BEST BRIAN'S SONGS

    LOVEEE ITT

  • 0:56...OWNED! LAWLZ

  • ukelele wins!! go brian may!!! you rock :)

  • thordoggie, it's NO SYNTHESISERS!

  • The most powerful line and one of the most philosophic lines in any musical piece is the line where Brian says "all through the years in the end it appears, there was never really anyone but me" showing that in your life it is only you as a constant from birth to death. Parents, friends and wives come and go, but you are the only one there from beginning to end and for every moment.

  • @yryriza 'Any Music Piece' is quite an assumption, but it is awesome.

  • @yryriza I don't know what Brian intended, but I interpreted it slightly differently. I've tended to hear the song as the tale of a person turning progressively inwards- losing his network of friends by focusing solely on the smaller domain of his marriage and then losing his wife by focusing solely on his work. The final two lines seem to suggest a belated understanding of his father's advice.

  • Oh wow, I only JUST realised that there's a pun in "limited company." Talk about slow.

  • @Flinklehurst Agreed with u here i think its about how the guy has failed in relationships.

  • @yryriza And I love the way they recorded that line, musically. :oD#

  • @yryriza Unless of course you believe in God, who is there all along the way as well. But not everyone has that pleasure.

  • @thejimmyzshow oh brother.

  • @thejimmyzshow Did I offend you and your imaginary friend? aww now you are on ignore catholic taliban.

  • @yryriza, you cannot offend me. But clearly MY faith disturbs thee so much, you are offended by it. That is the cross that the atheist must carry.

  • @yryriza i rather think that line was meant to show that he was alone because the subjectnever fought to keep the "Good company" he recommends...

  • @yryriza You said it.

  • @drumgold23 It's funny, I was just thinking about this song and how life sucks about a half hour ago, and you respond to my satements from a year ago. Amazing timing.

  • Fucking amazing cool video! jejeje excellent and great work!

  • NO SYNTHESIZERS!!

  • This is one of my favourite song ever...

    I love it :)

  • HAHA!

    SO FUNNY! 1:51

  • One of my Queen's favourite ever alongside with "One year of love".

Very funny song, perfect to sing and dance. Ukelele rules!

  • Must have been extremely difficult to make all those guitar sounds in 1974, without digital effects...

  • well thats Brian May for ya..

  • that's all his own guitar, the Red Special

  • I love how beautifully it sings...

  • Great video!

  • I love those oldschool videos.

    Best band ever.

  • what a great montage, to go along with the song... nicely done!

  • This is spiffingly very British. Great vid, song and Band!

  • I do not think it is about anyone's voice being good enough. It was the blend of unique voices and songwriting skills that made Queen so successful. None of them could have achived what they did without the band.

  • Very fine song :) Rhytm transferred from banjo to guitar :)

  • just keep good company! ;-)

  • greath video !!!!!!

  • i adore this song :)

its so unique, just like queen are!

    amazing.

  • This is such a sweet song :) I always feel some of his compassion whenever I hear this song.

What I like about Brian's voice is that even though it's nasally, it never gets that whiny quality like Lennon's voice sometimes had- he keeps his soft palette arched and actually supports his tone. Lovely.

  • I think the thing about Brians voice is it was good enough to lead a band but Freddies was absolutely exceptional.

Listen to "who wants to live forever" and Brian starts off, which is "good enough" then Freddy comes in and... wow!!!!!!!!

another case was when I heard Brian doing "to much love will kill you" I thought it was great then I heard Freddies version (I didnt know he had recorded it so it was a BIG shock to hear him.
