I have followed Frankie Miller since the middle 70s and he was one of the best live acts around. He was forever arguing with his record company over musical differences and this contributed to less exposure. One of his best albums was High Life which was produced by the great Allen Toussaint and his version of Brickyard blues (play something sweet) is great.
Prachtig, waar is deze man gebleven.
@johnmckinlay67 Thanks, mate. It's clear from the viewing stats that lots of people are finding this video and enjoying it, so I'm happy. 8 thumbs ups now!
Unbelievable--this guy is one of the best soul singers Britain has ever produced *(and the best one for Scotland!) and no one knows who he is. He is to Stax/Volt style soul what Peter Green was to Chicago blues--the real thing, no fakery, no posing. Otis Redding is applauding in heaven.
Thanks for this vegetubleman. I had a copy of this years ago, now thanks to modern technology & guys like yourself ,it's out here for folks to enjoy. I can't believe it's only got the thumbs up 6 times, including my own. Obviously not many people know Frankie covered this...and it beats Ferrys version hands down.
@madaxemanbeer It takes a great arrainger to re-do a Beatles song, Joe Cocker ( Help From My Friends and Bathroom Window) was dam good and I would have to say that Frankie is the only other one, and both Joe and Frankie are GREAT R&B Vocalist. Frankie took this song and made it his, if it's good enough for Lennon I'm fine with it LOL. Frankie gone to soon.
You're more than welcome, bigpiot. I only remember it 'cos Peelie used to play it and always said it was the best version of Lennon's song. I was quite surprised to find it wasn't on Youtube, but there you go!
Great version!

Just found the John Peel session version of this - which is the one I really remember from then. It's incomplete, sadly. Anyone want me to upload it?

I've been trying to find this for 10 years. My vinyl version snapped in the corner of a cupboard. Thank you. Still sends a tingle up the spine.
