a quick question...how much space (in feet or meters) does this kit take up?? i'm hoping to get this kit soon and need to know how much room to clear XD
@SflicP umm about 5 feet wide maybe 2 feet deep at a minimium. You can adjust the spread of the legs at the bottom to some degree. Of course it can take up more space if you space things out. Good luck and thanks for watching.
well I got my dm5 for around 225, extra cymbal was 40 or so, the kickpad and pedal another 65, and the drum rocker IONs for 300. There is an upgrade kit for the drum rocker that has all of this for 200 except it uses a different brain. not including the drums themself.
With the DM5, and most drum brains they have a headphone jack. Some brains (not the dm5) have an audio input to play mp3s so you can play along. I take the audio from the DM5 and feed it into an audio mixer and mix it with my mp3 player and listen usually via the headphone jack on the audio mixer.
Hmm, Short answer is probably no. or maybe. Guess thats pretty subjective. The heads are pretty much the same (except) the snare which often has a mesh head. I think they are good e-drums. Certainly not as good as the more expensive Roland. Eventually I will get a dual zone snare which will pretty much make them comparable to "real" e-drums.
Well it doesnt really get much better for rock band...As E-drums go they are good. Heads are not as good as mesh heads but satisfactory for playing thats for sure. And the response (bounce) is much better than the standard RB set. I got these because I could play RB and drum on them. Of course the DM5 was extra, but pretty much any brain will work with them. I.E TD3.
Thats a good question. I just thru it up there. Since it isnt dual zone it doesnt really matter where I hit it. I am getting the surge cymbal hi hat someday, I might try moving it. I dont think it will help my playing much tho.. LOL, Thanks for viewing.
I havent really had any problems with that. I had some crosstalk. Have you tried setting the sensitivity and velocity threshold? If not you might want to play with that. Also make sure they are relatively tight. I did have a problem with the high hat the wire came off inside and I had to resolder it.
Absolutely. The trigger levels are adjustable to an individuals playing style. I suspect the ION cymbals probably aren't as "good" as roland but they sure are cheaper.
well the vid pretty much show how big it is. You can move the arms and stuff to change the shape somewhat and position of the pads. You can loosen it up and kinda fold it up for moving but its not really playable that way.
My hi-hat was off of ebay a alesis dm5 pro kit cymbal. You dont have to have 3 cymbals but you really want a hi hat , a crash and a ride. For some music you might want 2 crashes... but you can just move the cables and plug the ride into the crash2 position...try that with "real drums" lol
i already an eletronic drum....with many pad's. What do i have to buy to connect my pad's into xbox360? i see picture of ion drum rocker...that have a drum controller like a xbox360 joystick with the same buttons. Where can i found this controller?! thanks
The ion controller for the xbox 360 came with the Drum set. The ionaudio website states that they are not going to sell it seperatly. They initially said they would. I would like to buy a ps3 controller someday so I can use the same set for both games. Dont know what to tell you. You could contact them and ask...
The hihat is from an Alesis dm5 pro kit I believe. I got it on Ebay thats what the description said.... It is thicker and alittle firmer. More bounce on it than the stock cymbals, but not like a metal cymbal. It does seem have better sensitivity all over its surface. I am thinking of getting the metal surge cymbals for looks and feel. Despite the fact that a DM5 won't support a chokable cymbal. I can at least get a dual zone ride.
Do you have a kick pad? once you get the DM5 you can use the kick peddle that came with the ION for the high hat, but you will then need a kick pad/peddle. I got mine from Sigler Music off of ebay.
I bought a couple of 1/4 inch to rca phono adapters, then plug the rca cable into the aux input of a stereo/mixer.
I would use the main output not the aux outputs from the DM5 unless you want to go into the panel and adjust them. I havent done that an mine usually have no output.
Also remember that the volume control on the front controls the headphones AND the main output. Hope this helps..
is your alesis dm5 free standing? or sort of clamped on and how ive just bought the ion drum rocker and the alesis dm5, also what kick trigger you using?
My DM5 is clamped on. I bought it on EBAY, the guy I bought it from also had the mounting hardware (at extra charge) for it. The kick pad came from a company Sigler Music, they sell an upgrade kit for the ION a different brain etc, but also sold the kickpads seperate dont recall the price but it was like 75 for the pad and peddle together.
Its one from Alesis, got it on ebay for 30 bucks. It works with the xbox brain also for rock band. I am uploading another video you should be able to see the cymbal alittle better in it.
Actually It came with a clamp and bracket. But .. Thats because the guy I bought it from had one... I suspect you can find em on ebay still. I really want to get a couple of the Alesis surge cymbals at least they look like cymbals.....
hey man would you learn the charcters before? its bad...

do you need a kick trigger
hulk101101 2 years ago
the pads are velocity sensitive (they respond to how hard you hit them) but i don't think that the cymbals are choakeable
BrianWilson720 2 years ago
how much was the brain?
and is that all i need to play them in real/
Rapicalz 2 years ago
350 new and 308 used at Guitar Center

couple questions:
Are the pads sensitive to how hard you hit them.
can you choke the symbols.
and lastly do I need a kickbox for the bass pedal to work. so like I could use a rock or destroyer pedal with them.

just wondering how good this is because I'm wanting to get a electric drum kit, and i need a new RB drum set so is this worth it?

hi, i have a problem with my ion cymbals, i have to hit them really hard to get them to respond, if you had this problem please tell me how to fix it

Thats assuming you have a DM5. Do you or are you taking about with rock band?
BacardeSan 2 years ago
With rockband they are slightly less sensitive. Meaning yes I have to hit them alittle harder.
BacardeSan 2 years ago
so it is all normal when you use it with a drum brain?

Absolutely. The trigger levels are adjustable to an individuals playing style. I suspect the ION cymbals probably aren't as "good" as roland but they sure are cheaper.

I'm about to get the DM5 but i dont know where to buy a kick/bass pedal after i put the roadie on the hi hat.
Can anyone please tell me where to get a bass pedal that is compatible with the DM5? Thanks!
MasterSighlis555 2 years ago
Any trigger pad should work. I got mine from Sigler Music on Ebay.

Is that the roadie hihat? If so, how is the quality versus the stock ion cymbals? better, worse, same?
