well i like helmut lotti's version of this song. tho i would love to see the holy cross choir sing this song! SA rocks and the ppl are great too.. thnx all jou afrikaanse peepz for being the bestest friends i ever had!! i do miss you mal koppies so much!!
I've lived in SA and Zimbabwe too and not long moved from Zimbabwe in 2001 which isn't that long but it is really scary...im only 16 now and i remember when we moved back then it was even scary. "springbokk4life" i agree...it is scary to stay in places like that...Always praying for folk back home and hope that bloke Mugabe gets some sense knocked into him or just steps down or something but the situation is ridiculous there...God Bless you all :D
Man I feel your PAIN. I visited Zimbabwe in 2000 when the political and economic situation was starting to decline and it ANGERS me what Mugabe has done to that Beautiful country, God Bless wherever you are, Blessings from Uganda.
The africans peoples must to be proud even if you are come to the north or south.I think this song could be symbolize the unity of african people. Each time i heard this song i'm feel proud to be an african man. i was born in comoros is the litlle island between madagascar and mozambic and i'm so proud of this country. In african you didn't need to have money. If you have it it's good but if you havent got it deosn't matter.God Bless africa.
yes i like the way we are not run by money like america. doesnt matter how bad its gone for u (has for me at times) always proud just to be in africa. feel same way
are you on drugs pixel? have you been to new york and other big crime areas in america? america has just as much crime involving murders as any other country. why do you think you guys have all the detective and polices forces? for robbing convenient stores? uour comment was one of the dumbest things ive seen all week. ive lived in both countries and americans are right up there in the murder rates.
my country is run over with racism whcih results in the unfortunate crimes im aware of that and not denying it. im simply commenting on the ignorance of your statement of how americans dont kill each other. but im also guessing you havnt lived in SA. from my experience its just as scary to live in the US as it is in SA, and i lived in a very dangerous part of SA too, my dad once owning a security company and being a target...may god be with you too
lol....at what point did you think i cared of your opinion? have you ever lived in BOTH countries? dont think so. what was so wrong about my comment? its true. you said "i dont see americans killing americans." so why are is USA among the top murder rates of the world along with SA? you cannot judge the ideals of a nation by their crime rates. its like me saying america is fatest nation in the world, bad ideals to live by....yet the country is not all like that...
Lovely, really enjoyed this version. There's something so moving in this song, the rhythm with the Djembe and the melody. I like what he does with it but not really the orchestra bit.
by the way, this song was originally sang by Zimbabwean/Rhodesian(at that time) mine workers. It was originally sung in isiNdebele, a Nguni language spoken in Zimbabwe, a very close cousin to Zulu. The original lyrics went "Stimela s'phume Rhodesia" It has evolved.
A beautiful song indeed. Makes me proud to be part of it's history.
I'm half white and half black. Tell me, why can't a white person sing this song? This song can be sang by everyone. read the lyrics before being all racial!!!
im a white african and this means just as much to me as it does to any african. im no hippie but i dont get why whites and blacks cant get along. i have black friends and white friends. i lived with blacks and whites in africa for years and we all got along. why cant it be like this in the us.
flamink if you don't like my comment it's not my problem this is the truth and you have to accept it, and a public place like youtube is not a place for fights, americans are worthless for me already you show what you are in middle east
Wow... Helmut Lotti is Belgian too (not that we're proud of that), in case you didn't know. And it's my impression that the average Belgian is a tad more worldwise than the average monolingual Brit who gets everything from Anglo sources.
also me i had live in philippines in asia that also those people they are so good and so open, only the white race europeans and americans are the race that only problems bring to the other races, forgive me if i am insulting any one for that but that is the truth
Great, I stayed in Swaziland for 5 years in a place called Bulembu I loved it and the people are great. I now live in Australia but my hart is still in Africa where i lived for 30 years. thanks for the memories.

The song was written in Ndebele, an offshoot of the Zulu nation. There's not much differences between the two languages.

A rough translation: Move fast on those mountains train from South Africa. You are running away on those mountains train from South Africa.
