  • As a former Naval Officer I know.....SOMEBODY was "voilently" fired for this mishap!

  • Comment removed

  • They were just straightening the bird so it can be pulled into the hangar. The way the boat was rocking, they should have stopped the evolution and chained it down until calmer seas.

  • Couple days in the shop and it'll be ready

  • heli was tired and needed a nap

  • LOL guess someone was tired of flight quarters

  • No RAST, uh? They obviously needed some H-2 veterans around who actually know how to manage a bird on a flight deck.

  • @raytrygstad Funny! (In the proper context of course)! I deployed with "Hookey Twos" in 1986 with HSL-35, Det. 5 on board the Reasoner then rolled over to shore duty with a LAMPS MK III squadron. Thought SH-60Bs only deployed aboard ships equipped with RAST! I wonder if this wasn't a landing on another ship (without an airdet) for whatever reason and they just were not knowledgable? Seems that the pilots and aircrew would've properly instructed them though!

  • guess this is how they crashed a helicopter during osama bin laden operation.

  • More likely they were prepping for a flight and had removed the tie downs. I noticed a crewman inside. It appears that no one was injured.

  • chuck norris tries to hold it steady

  • Deck chains weren't securely tightened nor was the deck clamp enguaged under the fusalge.

  • WHERE ARE THE DECK CHAINS. HOLLY SHIT THIS MUST HAVE BEEN COAST GUARD.

  • What squadron?

  • project reality style!

  • no, i know the lead guy. the ship turned while the deck crew was getting ready to put the bird in the hanger. while they do this the ship is not supposed to turn, but in this case they did.

  • that was by wind? omg...

  • Chuck Norris was just whistling...

  • badly drunk helicopter

  • @killerbug881 - Hahaha, nice!

  • @patmagroin20 That was drink & Fly , then the shit happen.

  • sea -1, america - 0

  • WTF Personell on military boats never seem to learn have to prepare for rough sea. They should have strapped it down -.- And i mean long before the rollover.

  • omfg.... FAIL in so many ways...

  • The WORLD STRONGEST Man At

    0.25

    0:25

  • WTF? How did it roll over?

  • @adam1611 i think it was one hell of a strong wind

  • @Airsoftsouth11 I see now when I look more carefully :P

  • @adam1611 i'm just thinking what they are thinking .. No NO! quick put it back up .. ahhh OH NO NO NO NO . We are in a lot of trouble. :S lol

  • @Airsoftsouth11 There wasn't enything they could do, hehe :D

  • PLEASE dont tell me this was on the USS Nicholas... :D

  • Love how the guy push it back up like if he was superman :)

  • @64CSAR LOL

  • @64CSAR i think that's a 'natural' reaction to something like this for the inexperienced...? see how the other guy almost pulls him back and is prolly yelling "STOP you fool!"

  • @steeltown98 lol i know its still funny though

  • Well, that's coming out of your pay...for the next 40 years.

  • @Cubes001 It's a 15 million dollar helicopter that need it's blades replaced. That will be replaced by the American taxpayers combined in an hour from a single state while only charging a couple cents extra given most damages are covered by the budget.

  • play dead (crunch) good boy!

  • it wasn't the swells that tipped the bird over it looks like something went wrong either with the cable system or the helo itself during the straightening of the helo to bring it in to the hangar

  • it wasnt the swells that tipped this bird over something went wrong with the cable system that straightens the helo out to bring it into the barn if you look close enough you can see the cables back by the tail section

  • ohhhhh money for those blades

  • @lookatmegofly hey dickneck he was eating on the flight deck. My friend was the det chief

On that deployment and he was caught by the xo.

  • @Mrstrongisland01 I was on that det.

  • @lookatmegofly I wasnt eating, why does everyone always know what happend when they wernt even there???

  • Comment removed

  • @Mrstrongisland01 check you inbox too.

  • @lookstmegofly hey dickneck he's eating on the flight deck. My friend was the det chief on that deployment and that boat chuck was caught by the xo.

  • @Mrstrongisland01 and he wasn't a boat guy, he was an AT3

  • Chain the damn thing... Do your shit later on...

  • I wonder have the winds managed to turn the heli on its side, yet not blow the people away...

  • 1. Are there people in there?

    2. Fail...

    3. Waste of about $250,000 Maybe more

  • WTF that dudes eating on the flight deck

  • @Mrstrongisland01 he is not eating, he is talking into a microphone you idiot.

  • description's funny

  • Dude that guy who tried to help the heli felt like it wuz a special thing to him

  • @e081194eng it actually was flying 3 months later.

  • @e081194eng check your inbox.

  • @e081194eng It wasn't that bad.

  • @e081194eng Tie down straps would not have been used as the aircraft was in the process of being moved.

  • If Black hawk down and starfox 64 had a baby

  • dont think that will fly again

  • @planecool1 it is flying now.

  • Helocopter command's do so much ass fucking among themselves; when it's time to work the brain don't work.

  • dont quite understand why he was still in the cockpit

  • It doesn't like you. It was trying to fly away!!

  • That's got to suck.

  • Anybody on a naval vessel has procedures they're charged with following. Failure to do so results in this. Chains chains and more chains!

  • I like how that guy tries to catch it.

  • shhhh, dont tell the CO, he doesn't need to know about this allright. Now take this tube of superglue and stick those blades back on ok....

  • lol they make tie-downs for a reason

  • Yeah something was being done at the time this happened because there is clearly a crew member still at the controls wile this happens... I'm going with what neosonic66 said.. Most likely what happened

  • @DaLoner88

You can't really notice it, but the swells that night were 6-9 feet, which for a Frigate is pretty significant when we were taking them on the beam. The reason we maneuvered was to give them a more steady deck to finish up on, and since the Air Boss called up to say that they had chained it down, our OOD thought we were clear to go.

  • @DaLoner88 that's just the brake-rider inside the bird... a brake-rider must always be present in the aircraft during straightening and traversing evolutions to quickly apply the brakes in case of emergency

  • @neosonic66 To bad there's no " OH SHIT I'M TIPPING OVER" Breaks..Lol...Must have been one hell of a ride

  • Its not easy moving these birds in the barn in heavy seas...I had the tiller on the tail wheel on my last deployment and once you start getting it in there isn't much room on the sides either...HSL - 36

  • must not of had it chocked and chained verry well

  • or at all....

  • wen it was about 2 roll the first time, da we retarted man tried 2 push it bak over lol y na

  • S70

  • LOL! the wind made it look like it was made of cardboard!

  • i was in hs-14 and we did a ult on the lassen and this evolution scared the hell out of me on the first time. everybody else that had done it befor was laughing there ass off

  • You're all a bunch of idiots. The brid was from 42, east coast. It had to be craned off due to structural damage. You cannot see the horizon becuase its pitch dark on the ocean, there is no reference whatosever; it was an extremely rough night and the aircraft had to be straightened. If you're not an aviator, shut the hell up, if you're not an HSL bubba, then shut the hell up too, you knw absolutely nothing as to what this evolution entails or how its performed.

  • C'mon now navyavi, officers handle themselves a bit better than that, don't they? They did when I was in. Remember, this is YouTube, not the ready room. Everybody here is an expert. Just ask them.

  • you get the idea and im no dumb ass ? ass whole lol hey look at that ? i know how to spell your name "ass whole " wow i do know how to spell lol

  • They probably had that helicopter up and running in 2 days...

  • No way in hell.. I work on them.. Maybe a week if they are lucky and there was no airframe damage. The biggest hurdle is the investigations an the Dog and Pony show for the big wigs to show them how stupid all their subordinates were.. I'm betting a week to three weeks..

  • learn how to spell.... if your smart... you should be able to spell... dumb ass

  • irac and billons hun? wow buddy your super smart. What if you were stranded in a storm and these guys were going to launch to save your ass. If your going to take out your taxpayer money crap talk to the Lawmakers that pay 8 percent of their salaries into their pension system, although this only compensates for about 1/5 of the typical lifetime benefit. The rest is payed by.... guess who? Thats right

  • I find your lack of periods disturbing. That goes for everyone on this page.

  • That was the dumbest comment I've seen in a long time. I got an idea don't like this country then leave perfect solution for you damn hippies!

  • they dont care just order anotherone what the hell it isnt our money anyways its the taxpayers money thats the way the goverment thinks order ten more so we have a fue extras wow great country bring home the troops stop the killing now end the war now please

  • Shut up!

  • Alright here's some answere's for the questions being asked first off the reason the aircraft was not tied to the flight deck was because they where doing what was called a straghtening evolution bassically the flight deck has two tracks on it the crew has to line the bird up with one of the tracks via two cables one on each side of the bird. To straighten the bird it has to free of chocks and chains.

  • its just tired, it wants a nap

  • yeah hes like"IM TIRED OF FLYING AROUND SHIT IM TIRED FUCK!!"and they flipped him back over then he was like"ok!! *FLIP* BAM good NIGHT!!!"lol

  • i like how hercules puts his hand on it as if he could do anything but look stupid trying to hold it.

  • why?

  • how stupid they were standing there watching it go over why didnt they lash it down real quick so it wouldnt roll over ? there was people in it i seen them thrue the window thats a shame to just let that happen whatta mess

  • They where doing everything right in this evolution. Nobody is allowed around the aircraft when ther are in a straightening evolution. There was one person inside the aircraft he is the brake rider and he is the only person alowed inside. In a situation like this one we are trained to let it go it's not worth risking your life over. To straighten the aircraft it had to be out of chocks and chains that is why it wasnt secured to the flight deck.

  • Someone told me that in theory, a bumblebee and a helicopter aren't suppose to be able to fly..and I guess they can't stand still either!

  • It seems like ther would have some sort of system for harboring those to the deck.

Is there any reason that wouldn't work?

  • There are padeyes on the flight deck they where in a straightening evolution. Small ships have tracks on the flight deck that lead into the hanger. The crew had to straighten the aircraft via two cables one on each side of the aircraft. When a straightening evolution is in play the aircraft will be free of chocks and chains. The bird flopped on its side because the ship turned and with the aircraft not secured it whent over. There was nothing the crew could have done.

  • The reason why I was not able to point a ship to in the wind?

  • there is where your taxis go

  • taxis?

  • I think he meant "Taxes"?

  • @patmagroin20 taxys

  • Damn...No wonder I can never get a taxi when I want one!!

  • @michaelhammike

Looks like the taxes that were used on your education went to waste.

  • @Wags182494 hahaha maan i laughed so bad to your comment :)))

  • My TAXES paid for your education....

  • @mvrk15, If you are in Amercia you dont HAVE to pay for tax. You can if you choose, by signing the tax form.

  • @mvrk15 America*

  • CALL EXORCIST !!!!

  • Yeah too many times I've been in straightning evolutions and they decide to turn the ship. Fucking idiots up in the bridge don't give a damn and they always got there asses chewed by our air boss. We where lucky this never happened to us but we've came close a couple times. I feel sorry for the brake rider haha. You should see the after pictures too pretty wicked.

  • They weren't turning though. The ship has to remain a red deck when the helo isn't tied down with the trap set during a straighting evolution. You can tell the swells were rocking the ship and that's what caused the helo to overturn. I like how ADCS tried to flip it back over though ha. The officers up in the pilot house are fucking retarded though I'll give you that much.

  • Well I agree with every thing you said and I could see the boat rockin but I've personally been on the flight deck doing these evolutions with the bridge informed and they still turned on us. It's kinda dark so you can't really see what's goin on there was probably too much pitch and roll and the maintainers should have just left it on deck and put the full 18 on er. How could that be an ADCS He's wearing a flight suit???

  • lol...you guys are the first ones to kind of actully know what your talking about! Besides.....its my airboss thats trying to catch the helo. Idiots in the pilot house manuvered during are straighting and the RSD failed. Funny thing is I was always on the side it rolled over on to watch the tail probe line up and just so happen to not be there at the time.....lucky me!

  • HAHAHA Yeah that woulda sucked but I'm thinkin that brake rider probably shit himself eh? Yeah I'm currently in HSL-45 and recently got back from a deployement so I kinda know this feeling. We never had one roll on us but we've had a main mount come up off the deck. Those junior officers just don't give a damn when we're back there. You should feel pretty special we watched this video a little while after it happened for some class I took.

  • dude... JustinAshley? AM3 or hopfully AM2 by now? its me... AD2(AW) Duong. When you said 45 i lol! i was watching this video and brought back so much memoires. How goes life at 45?

  • @shotrod80

The idiots in the pilot house? Your air boss called up to us and said that you had the freakin' thing chalked down. Which is what the NCIS investigation that they conducted in Rota concluded as well.

  • oops

  • obviously american

  • at least the main r blades saved it a bit

  • ups iv lust found out ther is a poilet sos

  • 1: ther is no poilet

2:shouldent the tie it down or somthing

  • [note to pilot: distribute your shopping bags either side next time...lol]

  • woulda been scary for the pilot, no control over what happened...could pontentially have been blown off the side!

  • The first time it started to go, it looked like he just touched it and it fell right back down lol - too funny, but an expensive mistake.

  • They were in the middle of a straightening and traversing evolution, the helo had to be unchained... the use cables and the trap on the deck to twist the helo and pull it into the hangar... the reason it rolled is because the geniuses driving the ship maneuvered during the straightening evolution, which is a HUGE no-no...

  • about time somone new what they were talking about

  • Once again I'm not defending the dipshits in the pilot house because they're young ignorant ensigns and jg's but it was inclemment weather conditions causing enough pitch and roll for the helo to topple over like that. You have to be a red deck during those evolutions which means the ship will matain a safe speed and course until the evolution is complete. There was nothing anybody could have done. I would have just left the thing on deck until the weather improved.

  • @neosonic66

"The Geniuses" driving the ship were told by the Air Boss that it was chained down. That guy you see running out there to use his super human strength to save the helicopter was the air boss.

  • @neosonic66 does anyone else feel sorry forthe poor bastard in the cock pit

  • Wow... Ineptitude. I'm so embarassed.

  • Each on of the blades costs $110,000.

  • Yep, and throw in the cost of a Stab. Looks like it got bent too....

  • i think that is a 3 million dollar helo

  • @patmagroin20 so 220,000 just for the blades? that sucks

  • @patmagroin20 im not sure if its for helicopters too but if an airplane prop hits the ground you have to get the whole engine inspected and sometimes replaced

  • @marble97c - Yeah, we have a myriad of checks to do in this case, although our blades aren't connected as directly to the engines as yours are

  • @patmagroin20 i cant fly yet im not old enough i just know because i know lots of pilots and have flown with them a couple times i cant wait till i get to fly though.

  • What do those dickheads care, its taxpayers money they are wasting.

  • Dammit, I know those bungee cords would not work. SHIT!

  • err jim what was that bang?

err did u tie the chopper down?

    oh buger not again!!!!

    lol

  • you know a sea hawk has a anti submarine missile on the other side if it crashed on that side...

  • I'm pretty sure they were off-loaded before traversing.

  • it had nothing to do with the conditions. The FDD is an idiot. yeah lets try pushing the 16 ton helo...when you are twisting the bird...you need to be moving forward too. The pilot in the shack should have known that too. East coast HSL guys are retarded...lol

  • Uh -- HSL-45 bird -- that would be LEFT coast! Who's retarded now??

  • What are you talking about? Nobody said this was an HSL-45 bird and who the fuck says left coast dumbass? I said I'm in HSL-45 I didn't say that this was a video from my command.
